Product Review: Pro V1 RCT Ball vs Pro V1 on SkyTrak

- Titleist golf ball specialist worked with Trackman to create a ball that is designed to help Doppler based launch monitors read the ball flight more accurately. The test is if it will help photo based launch monitors work better as well. I’m testing the two ball designs on my SkyTrak to see what the results are.

I use pro v1’s (from 2018, I’ve been away from the game a while) on my recently purchased OG skytrak on my back yard deck NetReturn driving range. Still just doing GIR practice, no courses yet. Do have the occassional miss, but both direct connect and network connect seem to have same nominal number of misses. I’m just dragging the ball to the dot and hitting tho. When it does miss I have a lens cleaning brush (or canned air) that I clean the hitting mat dust off the camera window with, and things go back to normal. Great demonstration and proof of concept. The Skytrak has been losing connection for me as well, I HATE that. I thought it was just me so good to know others have same issue so that hopefully they will fix. Seems like it just started to happen when Golftec bought it. Looking forward to you putting out the big bucks for the "+" and do a review on that.
Yes. Super frustrating. I found I have to shut it off. Exit to the main screen and start over. Thus loosing the history on one screen especially doing comparisons. That is the exact timing it started for me. I look forward to that as well. Guessing early summer unless I come across extra funds somehow. I want to do a comparison of the two and see what the gains are. My style is reduced in price and I honestly think that’s enough for a majority. The extra data may just confuse some. But the real interest is to see if it runs TGC 2019 better. Thanks for the feedback.
Doesn’t ST+ use the camera as a sensor? If this is the case, rct balls won’t do anything.
My assumption is it won’t make a difference. I’m hoping ST+ has fixed the number of misreads regardless of the ball.
I don't have skytrack. I have no where to set it up. I use a Mevo + with the pro package. It's relatively quick and reliable. Can't speak to the difference in the Pro V1 balls.
How do you use Mevo? I got the SkyTrak because I didn't have room behind the ball.
@ChasingTheTour I either use it at the range or I have a net that I hit balls into at home. I setup on my patio and hit off of a mat. For using the pro package the setup needs to precise otherwise the club path and face numbers can be skewed.
That makes sense. I'm hoping to pick up the SkyTrak + for the swing path numbers.
@@ChasingTheTour I thought I would get a lot more out of the pro package. However, I'm not so sure of that. I need to use it more to get understand it's value. I think for the money the convenience of the more expensive units could be a better option. I think you can get a GC3 now in solid used condition fairly reasonably. Bushnell makes one too that is fairly close to a GC Quad for a fraction of the cost. I say those because from what I've seen they seem like turn them on plop them on the ground and hit the ball. Just like that you have your numbers. Portability is sooo convenient. The Mevo + is portable to an extent. It would be cumbersome to use on the course for practice. As with anything in time technology gets cheaper too.
