Visited in 1997. I can remember,my eyes directly was attracted to a A frame structure, covered with the most fantastic purple flowers. Yes,you might have guessed, the “ Purple Hyacinth runner bean! I bought seeds on the property that day,and have never went without the plant for years. I was also told that day ,that every seed sold today, comes from the Mother plant, from Jefferson’s Monticello.

I was blessed to be able to tour Monticello last month. I never thought I’d be able to visit so many wonderful historical sites. This garden was one of my favorite spots, it is beautiful. I loved the little brick garden structure. It is in the middle of the garden and Jefferson would sit in it and read. The windows of the structure open and close to catch the breeze. Wouldn’t we all love such a garden and such a structure! 🌷🌹🌷🌹🌷

The DEA confiscated Thomas Jefferson's poppy plants in 1987, in violation of the Natural Law upon which Jefferson founded America. That fact should be mentioned in any discussion of Jefferson's gardening.

I sat through this whole thing hoping they would show that brick building up close or even the plants....I appreciate her knowledge and dedication but enough talk, yep, that was me who gave the thumbs down!

Obviously the main skill the gardener must have is to stand with a stupid grin on her face.
