I absolutely loved this album, not only the whole disco substyle with pop-folk narration that worked so well for this story or incorporating more of different genres in different songs, but also the whole vulnerability sense to it - after all the songs of the emails i can’t send were actually written based on the emails she wrote and never sent out (just like write and burn the letter coping mechanism - that what she used to do before she got a therapist, you know, the one she later on lied to 😅). Plus, all those little Sabrina’s jokes like “you used a fork once - it turns out forks are f everywhere” or “I’m so sorry for your loss”, the whole Nonsense song. It’s the first album she has written uninfluenced by the record label, where she had to unlearn and than re-learn how to write music and could for the first time express her voice without overcompensating or being pushed into certain style. And I’m absolutely proud of her and amazed by the final result. I only wish the I’m Fine and Wife could make it to the deluxe, so sad that she scrapped them because they were leaked (as if it’s our fault). I truly believe the I’m Fine is the best song, it just hits similar to the way because i liked a boy did. Top five in the chaotic order: Emails i can’t send; because i liked a boy; bad for business (the whole dissociative vibe to it); Bet u wanna; Things i wish you said Special place for Nonsense, and Opposite, and Skinny Dipping though. Forever holding a torch for I’m Fine
Wow! I didn't even know about half of what you mentioned here! Thanks for sharing this! Especially the part about Sabrina not being influenced by the record label with this album. I think this explains why her other music always felt off to me; it wasn't her voice fully!!
October 13 1307 is the day when the Knights Templar were arrested by the King of France, which was a friday, forever giving a bad reputation to "friday the 13th". October 13 is the original friday the 13th.
HAPPY EASTER!! I'm so glad I FINALLY got to film this reaction! What did you think of "emails i can't send fwd"?
