I love how missy beckons him with her finger like he did during the dance and how much that pissed him off. Also she has a mole around the side of her rib cage! What detail! The colors and snappy motion looks eye catching and I've seen so many artists and animators leave out wrinkles that are very important for expression for the sake of esthetic which I appreciate! And I'm a sucker for fight scenes where women are shown taking a punch, not a lot of people are willing to show that and it just made Missy look like a force to be reckoned with! They looked like they had a great time, they needed this in a very twisted way. Their dynamic is so fun and their motives are shrouded with a pinch of mystery, but make sense.

Actually it is a well known psychological phenomenon. If someone who seems perfect to people( like actresses or leaders...and Missi is a super vampire Girl) makes mistake, it makes him more human and we feel closer to him/her. But it has to be done by someone strong, who isnt lame all the time. In that case People judge it as cute. Also dominant man is more attractive for women so Dukes smiling looks he is confinent which makes him more cool.

I don't know... maybe the song was inspiration for that specific moment, but there's just too many parts of the lyrics that allude to a married couple. The darn chorus has them saying bows. Wouldn't make much sense story-wise unless you chop the lyrics a bit, which would result on a very short video. Then again, it's for Daria to decide and I'd be down with whatever she has in store.

I think that also, both of them knows that they hate the other enough that they can’t afford to give up to stick to the other, because the one holding the stick will try to fuck them up. I feel especially bad for Missi in that regard. It’s an interesting conflict. Duke will kick her ass as a human if he gets the stick, but if Missi keeps it then her vengeful nature will keep the conflict going.

That is a really good concept. We already know it's cursed, because it changed Missy. Maybe there was a point when Duke was as Missy used to be, and then he got corrupted by the staff.
Okay, but Duke's expression at 1:05 when Missi does the trust fall move is so amazing. Shock into irritation into hope that no one saw that into realization that we, the viewers, saw that into a conniving smirk as he sees his opportunity to grab the staff. It's such a range of emotions on a really small/distant model and I love it. Also the fact that they were both genuinely losing themselves to the fun of their dance and just flat out _enjoying_ each other before they both ruined it is a tiny but fascinating introspective to both their characters. I think this might be my favorite chapter of the series thus far.

I fucking love this artist because every time I watch her videos I find something new she's so detailed that literally I just noticed that Missy has a beauty mark on her left torso side and at first I thought it was a mistake or that I was seeing things but it's consistent in every frame like she only has one on her left torso side like that's the attention to detail
Missi and Duke are such interesting characters! Someone pointed out that trust is required to dance with each other in that way, and it is such an interesting part of their relationship. It's one of the aspects this very deep connection the two of them have, whether they like it or not, that I really enjoy. They hate each other, but there is also trust in that hatred because they know each other so well, to the point of obsession, and they're almost completely in sync because they can trust the other to betray them. Missi can trust Duke to want to take the staff from her, Duke can trust Missi to want to make his life hell, and thus they can play around with each other, both knowing that they're each other's prey.

How i've never seen this until today, this is genuinely one of my favorite animations ever. The mix of the music and the way the character interact with each other is amazing, great animation.
You know how Morticia and Gomez Addams loved each other so much and knew each other so well that they were able to dance flawlessly? This is that but the opposite. These two hate each other so much that they memorized the moves of their enemy which allows them to be practically in sync with one another.
Even now I enjoy this animation, how much grace, how many smirks in which there is a hidden meaning for the viewer.... it remains only to continue to love this animation...•́ ‿ ,•̀
I just caught something, Missi doesn't need the cane anymore to stay a vampire. I'm sure she still wants to keep it because it is a massive power boost, but it is no longer mandatory. I guess in episode 4 the Silent when she gave herself over to the dark power she is no longer human at all.
I have a theory that the only reason Missi hasn't left the mansion and hasn't given up the cane is because she wants to keep punishing Duke for turning her into a vampire. She's furious with him. I mean, she had already killed him in part 1, but then she resurrected him just to sing a diss track to his face, embarrass him, and kick him out of his home. Then she agrees to do a dance battle with him so she can further shit on his ego. She's playing the long con and I am here for it lmaoooo
Not being turned into a Vampire, that happened due to the Duke’s cane itself. It was for what he was about to do to her, while also giving an ongoing n daring chase, that’s why she wants revenge & vengeance, like said; just to beat him down even more.
What I really enjoy about these animations is the type of music you use for both characters: Duke's songs are always suave and confident--he's been a vampire for a lot longer than Missi and has grown to truly and fully embrace that part of himself. He's knows what he is and is 100% comfortable with it, so his singing is just as confident. We don't know how he became a vampire (or at least I don't know how, I'm not entirely sure if you fleshed out these characters more), but to him it doesn't matter. Even in death ("Land of The Dead") he's still perfectly happy with what he has and who he is. Missi, however, is always downright manic--we saw her become a vampire on accident/in sheer desperation. Her being new to the life as well as the circumstances leading up to it makes her panicky and almost completely out of control ("The Silent" practically spells it out for us). She's being driven to insanity, but she can't let it go because she wants to make Duke *suffer.* She brought him back to life and took the cane back up solely so she could get revenge on what he did to her. Missi's mania is partially what helps her keep her bit of leverage over Duke (as seen with her mostly controlling the dance in this animation), but she's losing it. Fast. Duke seems to just be trying to take back the cane and mansion more for pride's sake than anything, but Missi's entire identity as a vampire is centered around one giant fuck you (no pun intended) to what he made her do. I always look forward to your animations, they're absolutely fantastic!

Being a nice guy so how I see it. She only enticed him forward so that she could have a chance and burn him. As for her bringing him back, like the top commentator said, it's all a big fuck you from Missi to Duke.

still think personally what set the Duke off the most was that it was Twighlight in the first place that she trespassed(People like to omit this part) and vampires have a long history in legends and myths of absolutely loathing those that trespass on their lands

Okay, but Duke's expression at 1:05 when Missi does the trust fall move is so amazing. Shock into irritation into hope that no one saw that into realization that we, the viewers, saw that into a conniving smirk as he sees his opportunity to grab the staff. It's such a range of emotions on a really small/distant model and I love it. Also the fact that they were both genuinely losing themselves to the fun of their dance and just flat out _enjoying_ each other before they both ruined it is a tiny but fascinating introspective to both their characters.
I think this might be my favorite chapter of the series thus far.

I fucking love this artist because every time I watch her videos I find something new she's so detailed that literally I just noticed that Missy has a beauty mark on her left torso side and at first I thought it was a mistake or that I was seeing things but it's consistent in every frame like she only has one on her left torso side like that's the attention to detail

Missi and Duke are such interesting characters! Someone pointed out that trust is required to dance with each other in that way, and it is such an interesting part of their relationship. It's one of the aspects this very deep connection the two of them have, whether they like it or not, that I really enjoy. They hate each other, but there is also trust in that hatred because they know each other so well, to the point of obsession, and they're almost completely in sync because they can trust the other to betray them. Missi can trust Duke to want to take the staff from her, Duke can trust Missi to want to make his life hell, and thus they can play around with each other, both knowing that they're each other's prey.

How i've never seen this until today, this is genuinely one of my favorite animations ever.
The mix of the music and the way the character interact with each other is amazing, great animation.
You know how Morticia and Gomez Addams loved each other so much and knew each other so well that they were able to dance flawlessly? This is that but the opposite. These two hate each other so much that they memorized the moves of their enemy which allows them to be practically in sync with one another.

I'm sure she still wants to keep it because it is a massive power boost, but it is no longer mandatory. I guess in episode 4 the Silent when she gave herself over to the dark power she is no longer human at all.

I have a theory that the only reason Missi hasn't left the mansion and hasn't given up the cane is because she wants to keep punishing Duke for turning her into a vampire. She's furious with him. Then she agrees to do a dance battle with him so she can further shit on his ego. She's playing the long con and I am here for it lmaoooo

What I really enjoy about these animations is the type of music you use for both characters:
Duke's songs are always suave and confident--he's been a vampire for a lot longer than Missi and has grown to truly and fully embrace that part of himself. He's knows what he is and is 100% comfortable with it, so his singing is just as confident. We don't know how he became a vampire (or at least I don't know how, I'm not entirely sure if you fleshed out these characters more), but to him it doesn't matter. Even in death ("Land of The Dead") he's still perfectly happy with what he has and who he is.
Missi, however, is always downright manic--we saw her become a vampire on accident/in sheer desperation. Her being new to the life as well as the circumstances leading up to it makes her panicky and almost completely out of control ("The Silent" practically spells it out for us). She's being driven to insanity, but she can't let it go because she wants to make Duke *suffer.* She brought him back to life and took the cane back up solely so she could get revenge on what he did to her.
Missi's mania is partially what helps her keep her bit of leverage over Duke (as seen with her mostly controlling the dance in this animation), but she's losing it. Fast. Duke seems to just be trying to take back the cane and mansion more for pride's sake than anything, but Missi's entire identity as a vampire is centered around one giant fuck you (no pun intended) to what he made her do.
I always look forward to your animations, they're absolutely fantastic!

@Fairfax ..... That isn't consent, that was just plain trickery. She never consented for it and in the entire song Duke was teasing, flirting and heck pulling along Missi like a toy. Being a nice guy so how I see it. She only enticed him forward so that she could have a chance and burn him. As for her bringing him back, like the top commentator said, it's all a big fuck you from Missi to Duke.
What surprises me is the fact that they both managed to do this in heels.
I must say, Daria made fighting scene better in like 1000 times just by adding this reference to Voltaire's "Stuck with you". It was a greatest thing I didn't even realized at first!

As I'm actually not familiar with that Voltaire song (that's now been remedied) , I didn't even catch the reference until someone pointed it out. Perhaps this is a setup to use the song later in the series?

But yeah, it's just great to have such little references, that you won't even realize at first, and even if you are not familiar with these references, it's still nice to know about something like that!

still think personally what set the Duke off the most was that it was Twighlight in the first place that she trespassed(People like to omit this part) and vampires have a long history in legends and myths of absolutely loathing those that trespass on their lands
