At a special and limited capacity Thursday Night show to celebrate the start of the 2016 Eaux Claires festival, Phil Cook and his band The Guitarheels will be performing a set of music from and in the spirit of his latest release Southland Mission at The Lismore Hotel in downtown Eau Claire. Phil Cook is a Chippewa Valley native also known for his contributions in Megafaun and The Shouting Matches. He has produced, composed, written for, and recorded on dozens of critically acclaimed releases including albums by The Blind Boys of Alabama, Hiss Golden Messenger, Matthew E. White, Amy Ray, and Alice Gerrard's Grammy-nominated “Follow The Music.” With support from the talented local artist, Elsa Jensen, this performance will be a kicking-off point for an impressive weekend of performances and collaborations at Eaux Claires, this Aug. 12th and 13th along the banks of The Chippewa River. Expect surprises and come downtown early to partake in the free Sounds Like Summer Concert series hosted by Volume One in the nearby Phoenix Park. You won’t want to miss the beginning of it all.
