People drive drunk without getting in car accidents.
Just because you can get away with it for a time doesn't mean it's a wise or ok practice. It's bound to eventually lead to despair.
Why would you take a risk like that with your own house?

Very creative! I would however, have gone for an inward right swing door, as to avoid potential contact with the full sized, adjacent inward swing door. That can still be fixed.

Took off one too many supports, your stairs aint safe

It looks fine to me. The stairs are supported via the upper landing so no support is needed directly under the stringer.

@@jamesmorris1888Nah dude, the stringers on wooden staircases need to be supported by more than the upper landing. Also as I'm sure you didn't notice, those are L shaped stairs, they require more support beams than a straight staircase. You should refrain from giving false information out just to please yourself with the sound of your own advice my boy

@@farkmuckerzerg634 I don’t know what city or country you live in just like you don’t know where I am. But in my country the stringers are engineered to code allowing them to span the length of floor to upper landing without any support underneath. The bigger the span the wider the stringer. There are an abundance of houses with this exact cellar under them even with the L shape stairs you condescendingly said I missed. What passes in one place may not pass in another and vice versa. It’s a shame instead of seeing that and learning from each other we instead say my way is best way and tear each other down. Sounds like you know your stuff which I respect. It’s a shame instead of passing that knowledge on you choose to be a know it all even though your experience is limited to the jobs you’ve done. Rising tide raises all ships bud.

@@jamesmorris1888 There was nothing to learn from what you've said, even if the building inspectors in your area are unaware of the building code, which I don't doubt at all considering your response, the stringers are not considered supported without additional studs to brace. You're thinking of metal staircases, they are rigid enough that additional supports are not required, but wooden staircases do in fact require additional support. Instead of just opening your mouth to speak on something you believe you know because somebody told you to belive it, research on your own. Nobody is keeping knowledge from you that you couldn't seek out on your own. You sound like you're a carpenter, you should task yourself with learning your trade and not rely on others to always steer you in the right direction because at the end of the day their experience was limited to the jobs they've done and have never proactively made their jobs into a career. They don't go home from work and envelope themselves in information regarding their trade, they just show up to put in 8 hours and then go home and forget everything about what they did that day.
