Your video and instructions not only clear but easy to follow. I purchased a 2012 Mazda CX-9 with a factory remote, once I press to start the dash lights flash on/off and you can hear a clicking like the car is trying to do something but it doesn't start, not till I get into the vehicle and close the door THEN IT STARTS. I replaced the remote batteries, followed the remote start instruction that came with the vehicle, the dealership is no help & other shops wouldn't touch it cause it's factory. I'm thinking disconnect the NEG for 5 or so mins the try again, but I've called the local Mazda service & they said to bring it in and they'll look at it🤑💸🤑. Do you have any ideas? thanks..... MJ
Sorry Medic, I don't have any experience with the factory remote set up. In fact I got the start-x myself because it seemed to be the simplest one I could find
Hi, thanks for this very helpful video. Wondering if I install this and go to remote start my vehicle, will it automatically apply the previous climate control settings? Example is hearted seats and temp that was previously used when parking, or AC in the summer. Using a 2019 Mazda CX-5 Thanks!
Correct! You have to set your climate settings to what you want in anticipation for starting it up. So in winter time when I remote start my car, if I had forgotten to leave the heat on full blast prior to shutting it off then I would get in without it having gotten warm 🥶
After watching the video and installing the remote start successfully the driver's mirror doesn't fully fold after locking the car. I found out how to reset it but is still not working. Do you have any inputs on this? CX 5 2019

@@radieyevanov are you sure? I saw after starting the car with the remote and if you then press on the unlock button it shuts down car.. they said it's a safety feature.
@@naushadmahomed6919 well mine does not. The safety feature is that you can not take control of the car or put it in gear unless you enter with the key fob inside the car and press and hold the brake pedal to initiate normal vehicle operation. I bought mine a long time ago though. If the company has changed the programming I don't know. You can reach out to them directly but for the one that is currently installed and functioning in my car it does not do that. When you say you saw that it shuts off what do you mean? You saw a comment by somebody or you witnessed it do this on your own car after having the remote start installed?
hey, when you exit the remote start by pressing brake pedal for 3 seconds, did you notice the AC stops blowing for like 1 second or so and then comes back?
I do not know why that may be! Does the key fob work for everything else? PS when you say won't open at all, do you mean even with the latch inside the car? Because if that's the case then it won't have anything to do with the key fob
@radi eye vanov I've only seen recommendations for the compustar system and not this one, but this video convinced me to get this. Thank you for the extra tips. Do you know if there any way to have it auto turn on heated seats + steering wheel when remote starting?
It's a nice starter in that it's so easy to install and can do it yourself. It's not advanced like some other vehicles or abilities to control certain things like what you mention. So the way to do it with this kit is to make sure you leave the desired settings before you shut the vehicle off so that they turn on when you remote start it. ie in winter make sure to leave the heat on and heated seats on and in summer the ac on
@@radieyevanov thanks. As far as I'm aware Heated seats/wheel reset each time the car starts up but I'll look to see if there's a setting for that. Also there shouldn't be any installation difference between this model and the unlock-lock-unlock model, right?
@@dinman correct! No difference at all. When I got mine only the 3x lock was available but I'm guessing they came out with the lock-unlock-lock because some people have the tendency to click lock multiple times sometimes to make sure the car is locked. I plugged the three cables into the remote module and see the solid red LED light up . But when I push the car"s start button twice, the red blinks and I don't see green. Are we supposed to connect all the cables into the remote module? Am I missing something??
Hey Sambit. Yes, all three plug into the module. Try the reset procedure. Should see it in the pamphlet that came with it. There is a button on the module to hold and reset it and then you do the programming procedure all over.
Did the reset. Orange light came in briefly, followed by blue and solid red. But pressing start button twice only makes the red light blink. Waited for a long time, the electronics keep humming, but nothing happened. Have taken everything out so that I can use the car. 2019 cx5

Hmm...no trick. Should be like any other auto electrical plug. There should be a spot to push down while pulling them apart to separate. I'm sorry, I don't remember if there was anything different about them as I did this install a while ago.
@@richardgoodfellow3239 watching through the video again you should be pushing up on the white plastic clip area in the middle and then they need to slide out towards the front of the vehicle.

I actually purposely chose one that uses the car key fob instead of smartphone app. Personal preference but for me there's a lot of things in life where I don't want to rely on having my phone for. It certainly is cool technology though! Where did you pick up the start-x from?! Seems it's been out of stock and nobody the comments section has been able to find one!
@@radieyevanov okay thanks for the quick response! I wanted to use the phone as a primary way to start it and have the fob as a secondary. I checked this morning and it was $219 so I quick purchased it.
They use to sell directly through their webpage but aren't at the moment. They sell on Amazon but they went out of stock recently. Probably because of winter and them getting sold out. Hope they will get more soon.
This particular starter is a plug and play and only for 2016 and up cx9. You would have to purchase a different one for a 2015 that would require to be wired in as opposed to plug and play.
Yes they do but the 2006 kit is not a plug-and-play kit. It requires wire splicing and the install is much more complicated. The plug-and-play kits are typically not available for older vehicles.

Hey where can I get a remote starter that works with a 2012 Mazda 3?
Using a 2019 Mazda CX-5
Thanks!
Correct! You have to set your climate settings to what you want in anticipation for starting it up. So in winter time when I remote start my car, if I had forgotten to leave the heat on full blast prior to shutting it off then I would get in without it having gotten warm 🥶
I presume this is only for automatic transmission. You wouldn't want to remote start a car with MT that is parked in 1st gear :)
Hahaha absolutely right!
What about remote turning it back off?
@@LordKidd-m4w this one turns off on its own after 15 minutes if car hasn't been entered and stays locked.
After watching the video and installing the remote start successfully the driver's mirror doesn't fully fold after locking the car. I found out how to reset it but is still not working.
Do you have any inputs on this?
CX 5 2019
It happened to mine as well. Watch the very end of my video for the window reset procedure that I used. It worked for me, hope it works for you also.
I mean the folding driver's side mirror. I fixed the window issue right the way
@@Momo-ej9th oh oh sorry didn't understand that at first.
I wish I could be of help, I do not know the answer to that question though I'm sorry.
No problem. Will try to figure it out or just cancel the automatic folding.
Great video though. Greetings!

Great Video .. it’s working and I followed your instructions.. qq thou .. the remote key module in your video it does seems like it fit right into fuse box .. the one I got i couldn’t figure out a way
I believe I fed the wires in through the back and then the module through the front, connected them and tucked it all in
As of know I just placed right next to fuse box .. what happens if I take out connections and re connect it and tuck it under dash .. do I have to re sync the module ??
@@durgaprasad-mr4ld I would assume so.... Only one way to find out 🙃

Can I use this on a 2012 Mazda 3 or will it not work at all
Won't work for 2012
Has anybody tried to install on the 2022 Mazda CX-9?
Do you need both key fobs to program it? (I only have one fob). And I am assuming it works on all 2014 Mazda 3 trims? I have a GT

Hi! I have a 2016 Mazda6 sport, and wanted to see if you knew of a way to make all the windows go down before actually entering the car? I see some other models have that function
I do not know if a way sorry
Does the car turn off after you press on the unlock button?
@@naushadmahomed6919 no
@@radieyevanov are you sure?
Yes, that's because the electric power is reset for a moment when the car takes over vs the remote. Normal
@@radieyevanov thank you for your quick response ! great video btw.
@@MarekMarciniak no problem! And thank you 🙂
can it be programmed on a mazda 2 2017?
As far as I know This product does not work for Mazda 2
Some poor sap is going to be overjoyed when he buys this kit and finds this video!
You cant even take a bad take.. that flub at the end was scripted 😉
Hahaha it most definitely was not scripted! 😅
Hi I was wondering if you would know why my lift gate now won’t open at all?
I do not know why that may be! Does the key fob work for everything else? PS when you say won't open at all, do you mean even with the latch inside the car? Because if that's the case then it won't have anything to do with the key fob
can you push the buttons faster?
You can push them faster than what I show in the demonstration but if you go too fast it may not register properly.
Cool video bro
Great video
Thanks 😊
Though this is only my guess. Either way: links to both versions are in the description.
thank you. I'm hoping the unlock version will be less annoying for my neighbors haha
@@dinman haha yeah good point actually, I didn't even think of that 👍
I recently installed one on my 2016 Mazda6 Sport and it intermittently doesn’t let me use all the “infotainment” options that I did before.
Hmm...that's strange! What exactly doesn't it let you do?! Like your infotainment system isn't working properly or all your presents are gone after disconnecting the battery?!
I have the same car and I'm thinking about doing this, did it ever return to normal?
does it keep the car locked ?
Yes!
Hi need help on my start x for my 2019 cx9
After i reconnect the negative terminal the led light on the module is solid red i push the start button twice it flashes green and after i waited for sometime it turns red😅 please help thankyou
I'd recommend following the reset procedure in the pamphlet or restart/redo all. If you still have issues. Reach out to startx directly (email in pamphlet or website). Their customer support is usually quick to respond.
Can I start the car the normal usual way after installing it? (Hold down the break and push start button)
Ofcourse 🙂
What's the range like? I keep reading complaints online that it doesn't reach far
It uses the factory keyfob so it doesn't extend the range at all. Whatever your factory keyfob is that's it
Thanks!
👍
Do you have the link where you got this kit from. I looking to purchase one for my Mazda6

Whats the point of starting the car by remote
Heat up the inside during winter time before walking out to it 🙃 same during hot summer months with cooling it down
I plugged the three cables into the remote module and see the solid red LED light up .
2019 cx5
@@sambition hmm interesting. I was gonna say to try disconnecting the battery and trying it again to see if that does the trick. Any issues after long term for you?
So far, 2 years since I installed mine. Zero issues during this time.
Great to hear! Thanks for the quick reply
Is there a trick to getting the two white connectors unhooked. I can’t get them off. Thanks
Hmm...no trick. Should be like any other auto electrical plug. There should be a spot to push down while pulling them apart to separate. I'm sorry, I don't remember if there was anything different about them as I did this install a while ago.
I don’t see anything to push down but I will look tomorrow
@@richardgoodfellow3239 watching through the video again you should be pushing up on the white plastic clip area in the middle and then they need to slide out towards the front of the vehicle.
Thanks will try it.
@@richardgoodfellow3239 no problem, good luck 👍
Could I start the car from a block away?
Probably not. It's the same as what ever the factory keyfob range is. You are using the same keyfob obviously so it doesn't change anything in terms of the range. If you can lock and unlock your car from a block away at the moment with the keyfob then it should work.
Aw my Mazda is 2012 CX5, there wrote 2013+ so I guess i cant get it..
Planning on installing this on my 2017 mazda6. Does the car shut off after you open your door?
No sir, has secure takeover. Once door is unlocked you have 45 seconds I think to hold down the brake pedal to take over. Must have your key fob inside the car.

I actually purposely chose one that uses the car key fob instead of smartphone app. Personal preference but for me there's a lot of things in life where I don't want to rely on having my phone for. It certainly is cool technology though!
