The first word I said after watching this video was "WOW !" Iwas looking for a detailed method of putting a liner in a purse, and, I found this one. You make it seem very easy to do. I hope I can get this method to work out with the liner I need to make for a macrame bag I have made. TY for sharing this technique.
Thank you, Lisa Lam! I really appreciate seeing both methods of lining here. Even more importantly, I love that you shared the reasons why we might want to choose one method over another. Here I sit with a heavily-embellished exterior of a Christmas stocking (rather comically skinny-legged, though,) wondering how to best get my satin lining into it. My next project (already begun) is a new book bag, designed for heavy duty. You've helped tremendously for both, thank you so much!
Thank you for this video. You are such a good teacher. I really enjoyed how easy you made this look. You did it slow enough so I could actually see what you are doing. Also, your voice is very calming which also calms the viewer and takes all the stress out of learning. I really enjoyed watching the video because you make it look so easy. Thank you again.
I’m new to bag making and I couldn’t work out the second technique and it’s driven me mad thank you so much for your explanation and excellent tutorial ❤❤
OLD LEATHER SMITH here, I like it. I have 2 bags on the finish table, since I only work in Leather this video did help me. Thank you. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
YOU KNOW WHAT? YOU JUST SOLVED MY DELIMMA! I LOVED THAT METHOD! OKAY! AND I WAS HOPING YOU PUT THE HANDLE IN THE INSIDE OF THE LINING AND FABRIC. PERFECTION!!! THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH!! LOVE THIS!!!
Thank you very much! I finally see how the whole bag comes together. I like that you show two ways to line a bag and when one might want to use one or the other. 😊
Thank you for a very clear and simple tutorial. I made a little pouch bag and then realised it would look better and be more durable with a lining so I’m going to follow the second method. Thanks!
This video is most informative &,easy to understand. I'm making a laundry bag for clean clothes & wanted to line it. I now know two options to choose from. Thank you!
Excellent presentation and clear instructions and visuals. I just finished a bag that I had put off for too long...questions about the corner box technique...thank you for the easy method of assembling the out and inner bags...and the handles. So good!
Definitely the best tutorial I’ve seen regarding this sewing project. Very clear and easy to follow. Thank you so much for that, I will try my first bag in the coming week!
This was so so helpful, thank you! I was following a pattern and had no idea what it meant for me to do. I don’t think I would have figured it out without this video!
Thanks for sharing. Was following a pattern that called for a turned lining and couldn’t get my head around how the lining was inside but started on the outside. Now I know I missed the part about the opening! Also sooo getting clips now
Love your instructions--always clear and concise. I've made 4 bags from one of your designs for Christmas gifts thanks to your Structured Bags class! Easy Peasy...pun intended!
I recently made a bag and the instructions were a little confusing. You made it sooooo easy to follow you. Thank you. I'm going to make them your way from now on.
I love your clear instructions with no annoying music to distract me! One question...I prefer the turned method also, but how do I do the turned method with a fusible interfacing?
Thanks 🙏 I have wondered about why ? So often the linings are not very well thought out in the bag making plans I bought. And often they don’t explain very well.
I have recently made a few bags, but make them pockets on the inside and on the outside. Either way, I just love all bags of different colors and sizes. Now I need to learn how to make an insert for my tote bags as having pockets of some sort keep my things organized and easier to find. Have you made a video on making inserts for tote bags? Thanks for the 'easy to follow' video!
An excellent tutorial, but I still dont understand why you cant just stitch the lining to the main fabric right at the beginning, in effect sandwiching the interfacing between lining and outer fabric? That's what I did when I made my first bag, cut all pieces to the same size, and attached a lining and interfacing to every outer piece. Then proceeded to make the bag. Why doesnt anybody do it that way?
thank you, that was easy and quick. What about if I want with a zipper, can you show me the techniques in drop in lining if there is any please or the easy way . Thank you.
Freda Wade haha I did one bag this way and I didn’t leave a large enough opening and when I finally delivered I said to myself “man that was painful I should have asked for an epidural” 😂
Hi craftsy,do have any tutorial about the bag behind you?Im looking for making lining like that.Especially at down corner of triangle. So,dificulted to me.Please make a ttorial about granny square bag like that.Tq.
I wish I could find a tutorial where you could add a regular zipper to the top (not the recessed zipper with the flap hanging out). If anyone has a link, please share, thanks.
I like both methods...it is 6 of one...and half dozen of another with regard to end product...when you topstitch around the top of the bag to finish, the handles are extra secured anyways....either method, you end up with almost identical bags, right?
I want an outer bag has a flat bottom with an inner bag demonstrated like this but the outer bag is flat, pls someone help me because I am making a multi functional bag in school
I hope someone can help me here. A friend of mine bought a very inexpensive dress from a place called Ocean State Job Lot. Sleeveless. Gauzy. Tie dyed pattern that had white sequins attatched. She washed it once, the sequins broke and most fell off! No surprise. I removed the rest and used 3&4mm glass beads to embellish the design. Came out beautiful. The problem? I don't want the knots to rub against her skin and also, the fabric is quite sheer in the sun. The dress is quite full, has a v shaped small yoke in front but just hangs straight. There is no waist. If I measured an inch or two down from the arm holes, is there any way to make a simple lining and what would be the best, least noticeable stitch to attach it with. I am a newbie but reasonably intelligent and ready to try anything. Should it be in two separate pieces? Cut front and back leaving an inch to fold in half with 2 -1/2" turns to make a neat seam? Same with bottom and top. I used Czech Fire crystals and want to spend the time to do justice to an $8 dress. Very grateful for advice.

This is so much easier than making a little hole and pulling it all through. I was like there has to be an easier way 😂
Excellent Tutorial. Thanks!
Thank you very much

Thanks exactly what I was looking for

Great video😃 Thx
Thank you for sharing your talent with others. I love the sheep fabric. Do you mind my asking where you purchased it from?
Thanks Lisa! 😁❤️
Thank you.
great teaching
Very nicely demonstrated.
"A bag giving birth to a bag" is just too funny to me in a matter-of-fact British accent. I love it.
so easy to understand. thank u
Nice job thank you👍do you have a camera man or what kind of camera do you use? I made one and I did top stitch the top for extra strength . well done
Great tutorial ¡! Thx.:)

I think I am following, but then how is the top of the bag finished?
The point is to NOT have any exposed seams. You will still have exposed seams this way..
I seem to make two separate bags then put one inside the other and sew, takes me ages to complete, got to be another way xx 3:29
thank you, that was easy and quick. What about if I want with a zipper, can you show me the techniques in drop in lining if there is any please or the easy way . Thank you.
I prefer the drop in lining method over the “give birth” method, as I call it. Personal preference. Thanks for a good tutorial.
Freda Wade haha I did one bag this way and I didn’t leave a large enough opening and when I finally delivered I said to myself “man that was painful I should have asked for an epidural” 😂
LOL!! Im currently sitting here debating om whether i should nip some seams here & then i see this! Hahahahahaha
Awesome

Great vid Lisa, very informative :-)
Beautiful voice!
Thank you! :)
Hi.. Thanks for your tutorial.
May I know what kind of type your sewing machine is?
I wish I could find a tutorial where you could add a regular zipper to the top (not the recessed zipper with the flap hanging out). If anyone has a link, please share, thanks.

got your book great
I made one bag with a purchased mesh bag with zipper. The lining seam shows.could you do a demo with one of those?
Hello Patsy,
Great question! Please use the link below to submit your questions to our experts: www.craftsy.com/contact
Thanks!
Where did you get the inside lining?
What if I have D rings in or out
very very useful tutorial! thank you:))) I want to do DIY tote bag tutorial for my channel, so this helped me a lot:)
Drop in linings are perfect for lunch bags in my opinion. You just take out the lining, clean it and replace it with a new one when it gets dirty!
How do you remove it after its sewn in?
I want an outer bag has a flat bottom with an inner bag demonstrated like this but the outer bag is flat, pls someone help me because I am making a multi functional bag in school
I love the first way better. I dont know why lining is not sewn with the exterior right from the start.
What is the fabric name for lining?
What machine is that?
Need see also how to add zip
My lining martial plastic i not to attched water batool linning attachment plz help easy method plz help
