Thank you for posting this amazing presentation. It was very educational and interesting! I was a criminal justice major in college several years ago and I still want to learn. My great uncle was actually one of the KBI Agents on the Clutter case and a huge influence in my life. Thanks again!

How much did he really “ love or care” about his wife & children?? To put them thru all that he did???!! And he was smart enough to realize what would happen to them, after he was caught!! Horrible
ADD {don`t read anything into this}..... I`ve often wondered if it`s common for killers, thieves, rapists to be "on the spectrum" / Autistic ..... only because so many of them lack normal human emotions and some don`t understand the reason why their crime was wrong. I`ve watched several interviews and have noticed that it`s common for them to believe that they haven`t hurt the victim {or else they`re unable to care}, for them to not know how to read face expressions of victims, for them to perform actions solely because they believe that trouble will come their way if they don`t do it {such as hiding a victim`s body just because they don`t want specific adults [those they consider to be authority figures] to find out that the killing happened}. again: DON`T READ INTO THAT........................ I`m only just thinking about this, and do NOT believe that Autism in general is the reason why people murder or rape or otherwise do wrong things to others. I don`t see the same thing in "thrill-killers" who murder and dispose of bodies for the adrenaline rush that they get from it all, or in cases of people committing robberies because they`re desperate to feed their family, or in crimes committed for the "power trip", or in situations where someone has dealt with stress for a long time before just "losing it".
It is true; no need to backtrack or apologize... there have been several killers who are acknowledged as being on the spectrum in the past three years or so. Our awareness about this is just coming out of the shadows.
No one SK is the same. Some have families, have education, involved in community activities. Some are loners, awkward with the opposite sex, not educated. Some plan and surveil, some are just opportunistic. Some break into homes, others attack outside. I don’t think putting them on a spectrum makes sense. Anti-social, narcissistic, and sadistic fantasies, yes.

And she said he wasn't "just this dastardly monstrous person." But after reading Kerri's book, I can see that he was only ok if he was getting his way. He was really terrible - all the time. He had to control everyone.
I'm certain (after he'd bound his victim's) Rader would have derived much pleasure from inflicting psychological torture on them by telling them exactly what he's planning to do to them and by prolonging their suffering (physical torture) He'd require this as he's a sexual sadist. I didn't watch much of this video and so I missed the part you cited here.
He said his first memory of being aroused due to stress or some form of a woman being held down or in place was when he was a child. I don't remember the age. Around 6? Definitely under 8. Anyway, his mom had lost her ring in the couch and was looking for it. And she got her hand stuck in the couch. She called to Dennis to help her, and he said the image of helplessness and fear in her eyes always stuck with him and did arouse him at the time. Of course I'm not quoting verbatim, but im in the ballpark. Lol. Hope this helped.
I am very curious about Rader's religious beliefs. Did he ever believe? Does he believe now? Did he stop believing? The Lutheran church is always conscious of Martin Luther's founding principle of "Saved by grace alone". This means salvation in the afterlife is a gift from God because of Jesus sacrificing his life, atoning for everyone's sins and becoming the resurrected Christ. What does Rader believe about the afterlife now, or ever in his life? Does he believe in hell? Has he asked for Christ's forgiveness & if so, does he believe he is forgiven? Where does he think his soul will go when he dies? Has he bargained with God? Does he compare his "sins" to other sins? Might he think or say that what he did was bad but it wasn't as bad as.....say.....Dahmer who was a cannibal? Does he justify his acts by objectifying the victims? (Apparently so.) But does he ever feel the world didn't miss his victims or that they were lesser human beings so it was OK to remove them from this life? That his needs were more justified than the sanctity of the lives of others? In Lutheran belief, he can confess his sins to God, one on one, and be forgiven by the grace of God. Martin Luther emphasized that works were not needed to receive this grace. The other side of that equation is to repent, to turn one's back upon the sins and to not repeat them. Rader is locked up so he cannot commit his favourite crimes. However, he does not seem to be repentant in mind and seems to glory in his horrific history. It is not for us to judge and I am not making a religious statement here. I am asking what Rader himself believes based upon his background as a Lutheran who attended church often and was elected president of his congregation. I do understand what Dr. Ramsland was saying about the cubed personality. Church could be one facet of the cube but as we get older, we all must think about what will or will not happen at our deaths. Rader is about 78 now and in a more recent interview, Dr. Ramsland said he has physical issues which prevent him from going outside for recreation. He must be thinking about his necessarily limited lifespan.
