    Can i apply seaweed in the wet soil or should i wait for soil to dry completely and then i will apply in the dry soil by drenching method...plus its a flowering plant (citronella gernaium and lavender)
    Because i have heard that let the soil completely dry and then v should apply seaweed in the evening because if the soil is still wet ,then root may not absorb the seaweed nutrients ...that y v should add fertilsers when the soil is completely dry....

    hi I was just wondering I have an avacado plant growing in a fairly large pot of around 75- 90 litre pot full of organic horse manure compost. I came account your TH-cam channel about using seaweed liquid fertilisers. My avacado plant which is now approximately 1.8 metres tall has leaves turning brown at the tips. I do not want to use harsh chemical fertilizers is there by any chance that seaweed liquid fertilisers are any good for avacado plants? I do live over in the UK so very windy and very frequently raining, but having grown my avacado plant from seed now around 2-3 years I do think it requires some sort of fertilisation as just watering the plant isn't doing very much just more leaves turning brown and crumbling off. If you have any kind advice or tips on growing avocado plants it would be very helpful and great.
    Thank you,

      @@organicgardening thank you very much for your quick response/ reply. I applied the organic horse manure compost just around I think 2 years now or slightly less than 2 years; as it was around early or late 2019 when I reported my avacado plant into the large 70- 90 litre plastic pot from the original small 20- 30 litre round pot. Ever since potting the avacado plant into the container out into my garden I have only watered the avacado plant. I have never given any type/ kind of fertilisers/ fertilizers since. Although recently I have added some new very cheap multipurpose compost to top up only as a top dressing on top of the pot as the soil level was getting quite low. As far as I know it is possibly organic multipurpose compost but with no added fertiliser/s; in fact very much like garden soil with some minor fragments of glass, bits of plastic waste; so possibly very cheap soil/ compost that has been has been seeved to get rid of any waste material in the compost as much as possible. As far as how frequently I water the plant is around once or twice every few weeks until the soil in the pot is dry enough and not too drowning. The large pot/ container has many free draining holes all the way around it at the side near the bottom of the pot and also there are as expected holes at the bottom of the pot. The pot/ container is around 48cm- 54cm in diameter, and approximately 58- 60cm tall/ high or possibly a bit taller. As far as I know since repotting the avacado into the large pot/ container it has been withstanding very well and was growing fine despite winter frost/ snow and gusty winds blowing recently of up to 40- 42mph as it is England/ UK here where I live. However recently in the last couple of weeks since around late April 2021 till now still more and more of the leaves/ petals are turning brown only at the tips as if it is burning and the leaves crumble apart when trying to pick the dead looking brownish leaves out. But there is certainly new growth still occurring at the top of the avacado plant (new petals/ leaves) popping out. The larger leaves on the plant in fact are looking rather quite healthy and green all around but starting to droop down possibly due to the wind and cold temperatures at night which drops to around 1- 3 degrees Celsius at night. As for the stem of the plant or as you may call the bark if talking about a tree nearest to the base nearest to the soil it is also turning a bit greyish/ brown as if it maybe rotting or possibly just withering away due to some cold temperatures and wind blowing at times; as obviously it is not always sunny here in the UK very much wet/ damp country. The large pot the avacado is in now is black in colour and circular in shape
      Anyway as I actually originally started to just experiment with growing an avacado plant from seed/ pit I actually never expected it to grow this fast and also so large. Considering that the largest petal is around 15- 20cm nearly in length. I am therefore completely new to growing fruits and vegetables especially avacado plants so thought someone could possibly help by giving some advice/ tips. I only thought of the seaweed liquid fertilisers as I saw your wonderful TH-cam channel but and as it is quite cheap fertiliser to buy but obviously I have no knowledge or experience in using fertilizers except possibly for growing palm trees which is a very different plant altogether.
      Thank you,
      Best regards,
      Tom.

      @@organicgardening also in fact the soil/ compost the avacado plant is planted in at the moment is looking very good as it never turned to a different colour such as greenish etc. Which obviously shows that is moss possibly growing due to over watering but I have never over watered my avacado plant and do still the soil is looking brownish/ dark black colour (which is original colour), to when I started also the roots I checked last time were very long and thick and looking quite healthy and white so no sign possibly of root rotting. But just the leaves/ petals which seem to be quite a strange stuff. But I suppose considering it is the UK so possibly withering away the leaves. But the browning on the tip of the leaves are only happening from the middle half of the plant to the bottom half of the avacado plant and it is not happening to every single leaf/ petal only just a few of the leaves.

    • @tomh8782
      @tomh8782 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@organicgardening main reason that I think of asking about using seaweed fertilizers is not just due to the price but I have heard very good reviews of it including from your TH-cam channel and other online sources. Also my avacado plant seems to be slowing down in terms of growth as well not just the leaves possibly withering away/ turning brown on the tips/ end of the leaves. But as it is Spring nearly getting into Summer time here in UK I thought it would be very useful and good for the plant to get some extra help by using some kind of fertiliser. The soil in the pot is free draining or at least as mentioned earlier above I leave it to dry before watering it again. But then again very frequently it rains here in the UK.

    Is neem oil good or seaweed!??

    • @organicgardening
      @organicgardening  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear ma'am,
      Thank you for your kind query.
      Ma'am, neem oil for plants is basically a bio pesticide which help plant to protect from insects.
      And Seaweed fertilizer is organic source of Micronutrients and plant harmones.
      Both are good and have different work.
      Thank you
