I bought one of these saws yesterday. I live in an area where I'm probably not going to deal with a lot of trees, but still have to deal with branches that are more than I really want to cut with a bow saw. I didn't want to buy a gas saw simply because it wouldn't be used for 8 or 10 months and would just sit there with (stale) gas in it. This saw seems to fit the bill. I did some ice storm cleanup, mostly cutting 4-8" limbs and it had no problem. It's not the same as the saw I learned with, but it also doesn't require the fiddling a 2 stroke needs.
I have an MS 250, went out for fire wood this past week, used the 250 to drop and buck the trees, used the 140 to trim and prune. worked it hard for 2 days. Just put the battery on to charge, still has 1.25 bars left on the battery when I put it in the charger. Much nicer using it to [prune, more safe in my opinion
I have had this saw for over a year and think it's a dam fine tool. I use it for chainsaw carveing mostly and the chainsaw groups i follow have many members with this saw and have not heard a complaint! I have many saws and have been useing them for 35 plus years so i feel confident enough to give this saw a big thumbs up👍 And ffs get over the red sneakers guys. It's a good simple demonstration of the saws capabilities😁
I think I may feel sorry for you my friend, you need try the Stihl 161T and the MSA300. I don't meaning this one is bad, I have the 220C witch is just little more powerful than the 140, but after i buy the other 2 I very much not use anymore the 220C.
@@sirvozelo1 Don't need to feel sorry for me lol Do you even own a 140? I don't need anything bigger for doing a bit of carveing as it comes stock with 1/4 pitch .043 guage chain and uses the same batteries as my leaf blower and weed wacker. Saw arrived yesterday th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and today I cut about 3/4 cord of wood with it. Make sure you get an extension chord that is at least 12 gauge wire, minimum. This is my first electric in about 10 years, and things sure have improved. The self-sharpener works great, and it just kept cutting through some pretty decent logs. Wear your eye protection, and ear protection. Excellent saw.
peterpan9988 your stupid protective shit. I have been cutting for over 30 years never worn any of it still cutting not wearing any of it. All that protection is for idiots that should not be cutting
i have MSA 140 almost one year and despite i file the chain and replaced it, the saw feels that lost its power/torque to 50%. Any dead magnets? Have you heard of something?
Vasileios, it wouldn’t be dead magnets because it has a brushless motor. It seems as if one of the phases of the motor has died but the electronics in the chainsaw should stop it from working to protect the motor. The only other cause could be the battery.
I was thinking about buying another battery chainsaw and was looking at this Stihl MSA 140 but the chain speed seems a bit slow, especially compared to my Makita whose chain runs at 20m/sec. Do you know the exact speed of this chain. Also this model comes with a AK 20 battery but Stihl has some weird rating system for its batteries. The manufacturer says that AK 20 has 144Wh.. WTF? Everybody else rates their batteries in Ah but Stihl doesn't. DO you know how many Ah this battery has? Is it 3,4 or even 5Ah? Any info would be much appreciated.
Thumbs up this video if you're like, "TENNIS SHOES!!??" But still, thanks for the video. I think STIHL will be great for my farm... (I don't want a gas saw.) STIHL - Go big or go home. Brendan Moran I just bought one and find the dogs really hard to use without binding the saw up too much. I could see the dogs being really handing on an 8 or 9 inch log.
I agree with what you are saying. I just finished cutting logs from new gas line right of way for firewood. Many were too large (>30 inches), but I found enough 12 to 25 inch smaller logs for 10 cords. I used a battery saw that had metal dogs and a 16 inch bar. If you engage the dogs at the top and pivot the saw into the wood past vertical then quickly saw down to midway, pivot on the dogs again, then finish the bottom you get a smooth single cut all the way through and seldom need to go to the other side of the log. It's like one smooth cut. I notice in the video, on the last large log, wasted double cutting on the end of the log and the piece that he cut. When bucking, you should not be sawing the log twice, staying in the same grove all the way through makes faster more efficient use of batteries. I see people rocking and pulling on the saw in videos. It is much more efficient to use the dogs and perform a continuous pivot into the wood. Contrary to popular thinking the dogs are not for applying leverage excessive pressure. Makita XCU03 with 16" bar, full chisel chain and 6Ah 216 watt-hour batteries. During recharge my watt meter indicate 500 to 650 watt-hours (changed batteries twice) per load of rounds. My wagon would be equivalent of culling a pick-up load.
