I would caution you guys don’t get too “woe is me” on the pod. You will tend to sound like so many other wings podcasts right now. You need to remember that in the middle of a rebuild things are ALWAYS more complex than they appear. Sickness, injuries, the “kids” rookie mistakes, salary cap, rigorous schedule, new team members, families in transition, lines in transition, and more. It’s only 10 games and they are still viable after a schedule that could have sunk them. The goal-tending has been excellent and looks pretty solid so far. The power play shows signs of life. The top pair on defense is looking formidable.periods have shown some defensive strength (1-0 shutout of the preds). They have shown they are a much better team than the jets game performance. Do some real analysis from a high level, not just the eye test stuff. Love having George on with you guys.
I don't think you can build a good team very effectively with free agents. Good players don't make it to free agency until they are on the back side of their careers. So you are left with mediocre players and we got quite a few of them. Also, we literally have 4 rookies on the team right now. (I know Bergers has a bunch of games, but that was 2 years ago.) Which is good, because of the need for them to get experience. There are going to be a lot of growing pains. The fact that Gustafson hasn't worked out well hurts bad. I know LaLonde is under fire right now, but this roster is not a playoff team, unless the young guys take some huge steps forward.
Keep Cossa cooking. Don’t rush him this year. Next year put him in the mix and be the backup and gauge his transition. The high draft picks have been hitting which is good. The cupboard was so bare. Thought they should have swung more on offense with the three second rounders (love the Augustine pick) . Thought there were some centers/wingers available that could’ve had a big impact potentially. Trading Gibson for Kiskannen and the pick may be good if Kiskannen can keep showing promise.
Agree with a lot of things that you guys said but I don't think its 10 games - it is game to game . He has taken this group as far as he can. Devin mentioned the collapse last year when Larkin got hurt . And what is important about that - is he was / is the only player that can carry the puck into the offensive zone on entry . So they had to rely on dump ins - and this team is not able to succeed at that . This year it looks like Larkin has lost some speed and is not able to transport the puck as well as he has in the past.
I knew this year was going to be a rough year. Paying out 16 mil to get two players extended (which was the right move) would mean there would less money for everyone else. I am not sure if we'll make the playoffs but I do think that we'll be a batter team at the end of the team than we are were at the beginning of the season.
Petry has a no trade clause so that’s not going to happen any time soon if at all. The only scenario that might happen is at the deadline if the stars align.
Doesn’t surprise me that it’s a quiet lockeroom with the coach they have. Have a look in the mirror Newsy! Don’t give Cossa his first nhl start until this team gets it’s act together and is playing some sound hockey.

Well said! 👍
Great show as always.
Change the whole coaching staff and that will make all the difference.

Audio is crap. Tinny. Unlistenable
