- Pittsburgh vs. Wake Forest: Pittsburgh defeated ake Forest 45-21 to win the 2021 ACC Football Championship Game. This is Pitt's first-ever ACC Football Championship. The Panthers' defense picked off Sam Hartman four times and held the Demon Deacons scoreless in the second half. Kenny Pickett completed 20 of 31 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns, plus he ran in the opening touchdown of the game from 58 yards out. Wide receiver Jordan Addison caught eight passes for 126 yards. Defensive back Erick Hallett II had two interceptions, including one he ran back for a touchdown and was named the 2021 Subway ACC Football Championship Game MVP. For Wake Forest, Sam Hartman was 22-46 for 312 yards and two touchdowns. Wide Receiver Taylor Morin caught for passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.

I’m so damn happy, after the 45-44 loss to Cincinnati in 2009, I never thought I would see my Pitt Panthers as conference champions. 12 years later, it’s a reality. So proud of this team and I’ll remember them for as long as I live. Hail to Pitt!

I thought of that same thing. Today is the 12 year anniversary of that gut wrenching 45-44 lost to Cincinnati in 2009 at Heinz Field. Last night's game for me, was Pitt exorcising all those past demons of let down and disappointment to finally win a championship and go to a major bowl game.
RG III is an outstanding broadcaster.
I think everyone from both sides agrees that he made the game fun to watch. His singing of "fake slide" will be a meme no doubt.

For those of y'all that don't understand how huge this it for Pitt fans. Let me give you some background. Prior to tonight, they've only had 10 in a season ONCE in the last 40 YEARS. This fan base has been through ABSOLUTE HELL!! Horrific leadership in the athletic department and BOT. They've made horrific hires thought the athletic department. The one really good football coach they had in Dave Wannstedt was forced out back in 2010. That lead to a big run on head coaches. Mike Haywood, Tood Graham, Paul Chryst then Narduzzi in a span of 5 years. It wasn't until Pitt extended him when Pitt Finally got stability in the football program. After that he recruiting gradually improved.
A lot of people thought it this would happen last year but Covid and Pitt losing brutal back to back 1 points games vs NC State and Boston college really derailed the season.
Everyone wondered if Pickett would ever take the next step. This season he finally did and look what happened.
Right now Pittsburgh sports is a dumpster fire. Pitt basketball and Pirates baseball are complete embarrassments right now. The Penguins are a borderline playoff team. They may miss the playoffs for the 1st tme since 2006. Ever since the Steelers went 11-0 they've been absolutely feeling backwards and have been awful as of late. Penn State has been down the last two years. West Virginia has been mediocre the past 3-4 years. The one shining light this year is Pitt football. The city very badly was looking for good to get behind. Pitt football this week has gotten more buzz then the Steelers! The City of Pittsburgh needed this in the worst way. Thank you Pitt football!!!!!

Human interest stories are wonderful, but while the play is going on, just call the game. Announcer going on and on about the resiliency of Wake's QB as he throws an interception, and keeps going on about it even as the INT is being run back. LOL

It's nice to see Clemson and or FSU (albeit to a smaller extent lately) not in the acc champ game AND this past year was two good acc teams not named those two. Pitt was great and wake Forest has been good for so long now but not great until this year. Excellent seasons and it was a good season for both

I was at this game, and Wake Forest Fans started leaving WAY to early. Though they still lost, the fans all started leaving when there was still over 13 minutes in the 4th quarter. The WF fanbase has no commitment or faith in their team whatsoever.

Can someone explain why Pickett is going to the Heisman and Kenneth Walker isn't? You take away the horrible play by Hartman in the second half and it's at most a 7 pt win. 28-21. I'm watching Pickett play all these lousy teams, meanwhile Walker ran at least 100 yards every game except OSU where he was injured. He had 5 TDS against #2 Michigan. Had by far the most yards of any back while playing in the B1G against the likes of Purdue, Michigan, OSU, Nebraska, Penn State. And even beat Miami. While Pickett can't even beat Western Michigan.

Pickett threw for 382 yards and 6 touchdowns in that western Michigan game. That loss was hardly his fault. You’ll see why he should be the heisman finalist in the Peach bowl though.
Okay, I am a Pickett fan, as he is absolutely the best QB in the ACC, and maybe the country. BUT - his fake slide should be banned. The ball should have been brought back to where he started that fake slide. That is just wrong. If I were on the opposing team, and he tried to slide the next time, I would have lit him up with targeting. Like I said, I am a fan, but that was wrong. The NCAA needs to fix that ASAP before someone gets hurt trying that crap.
That being said, congrats to Pitt from a Clemson alum. I just wish Pitt could get into the CFP instead of UGA. Pitt beat Clemson worse than overrated UGA did. Too bad Pitt blew those 2 games. This was your chance and you blew it.
