A mirage would win that fight in real life aswell. The Tomcat would win if it was a prolonged rate fight at the bottom. But if you deplete all the height you have to survive about 2 circles against a Mirage for it to loose enough energy. If you let her get too close in that time you are dead
@@keineahnung1567 Ehhhh, yes and no. The mirage has a great capacity to pull aoa, which is great for a one-circle fight. The tomcat is really pretty good at it too, but the mirage is considerably superior because it's a delta wing. However, the tomcat should absolutely destroy it in the two circle, or rate fight. At the end of the day, the better pilot always wins, always. The tomcat pilot failed to maximize his aircraft's strengths and lost as a result of it. Overall, I would say the tomcat is a better aircraft, just because it can do both one circle, and two-circle fights in a fairly dominant way.
I tested this recently in a custom match and the mirage will win a prolonged 2 circle at any altitude against the f-14. Both planes were min fuel and clean. I was using the F-14 with 0% wing sweep + flaps on and off and there was no chance against the mirage. This was with mouse aim, idk if joystick would be different. As it stands right now, the mirage 2000 is the better dogfighter ingame with very strong missiles, followed by the mig23. You can't flare rear launched missiles in the f-14 unless you go 0% throttle for 1 or 2 seconds and pull hard while dropping a bunch of flares which puts you in a low energy state and unable to leave a dogfight. That being said, the f-14 is still very good in the current meta because it's a missile truck with good agility and good energy retention. But if mirage and mig23 players care to notch your missiles and know what they are doing, you simply can't win.
@@HighRiskV Well, can't argue with the ingame physics, but I promise you, it's not the case in real life, with real physics. The f14 was known to even win dogfights against f15s, and pretty much any other foreign competitor at the time.
