    You try to have a fucking convo and you just get drowned out by how loud it is. There is also a strange humming noise that it makes when it climbs up. Guessing that is the motor?

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a BIG coaster in an enclosed space - not really a surprise that it's noisy - and the motor needs to drive a LOT of tyres to get the train up the lifthill - count them from the front seat POV, it needs a lot of power to do that.

    This was my very first roller coaster of this type. Was always way to terrified of the loops. Hanging upside down is so not my thing. My friend dragged me onto it when we were there after a Convention in August 2014. We ended up in the front row. So much fun though. Got me hooked, lol. Can't wait to go again this year. Also I don't mind the shoulder restraints that much, but I only went on it once. I felt secure with them there. Great video.

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HuntressEcho Thanks for your comments - it's always interesting to read others' experiences of the coasters I have ridden. I didn't like the restraints as it made the ride far more uncomfortable than it would have been with just lapbars. It's a powerful ride but an amazing experience. Glad you enjoyed the video.

    • @HuntressEcho
      @HuntressEcho 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll take being uncomfortable and feeling secure, lol. I went on another ride there, Solar Flare it think it was called, the big swinging arm one. Couldn't enjoy it cause I was sliding around so much in my seat. Can't wait to go back this year though

      +davidjellis What is the minimum height requirment for this ride and does it hurt more than the tornado at m&d's

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +AwesomeGamer 420 I not sure of the minimum height - you would need to check their website or email them. I am fortunate to not recall how painful Tornado was...all I can say with Mindbender is that you need to brace yourself as it can hurt if you catch yourself on the chin on the turns, but otherwise it's a great coaster (which Tornado never was)

    Well I'm looking forward to seeing your backwards video of this classic Schwarzkopf coaster. I rode the Racer at Kings Island backwards and it definitely was a very unique experience. I must say that this is the only place I've seen Schwarzkopf coaster trains made up of three front cars. I wonder why they chose that configuration.

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No idea on the trains...the red train has three front cars and the blue train has two front cars and one at the back facing backwards! The backwards POV is interesting...it was very disorientating to ride it without knowing where you were going next!

    • @Icantspellll
      @Icantspellll 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When this ride first opened it had 4 cars per train, but not for very long. They changed the configuration after the coaster derailed and killed 3 people in its early operation due to assembly problems. ( lost in translation I guess ).
      This ride is very intense. I can only imagine it with 4 car trains packed full.

      +Mateo Jara I cannot see any reason why a 12-year old couldn't ride and enjoy it. It will be a while before I head back to Edmonton - my main focus is getting POV on the coasters rather than the other rides....but would happily return and do more filming :-)

    • @stressing
      @stressing 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheArtyFarty i think they only put them on because of that time when people died on it

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +stressing The accident was mainly caused by the train derailing...and although the lapbars were criticised in the accident report, a coaster derailing would have been serious bad news with any type of restraint that had been fitted. I suspect the main reason the shoulder restraints have been retained is to prevent riders putting their hands in the air...there is very little clearance at the top of the ride.

    Is it a good ride other than the bizzare and painful restraints. Is it like unbearably painful or just like a bit uncomfortable?

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I expect it might depend on your height and physical build, but the sharp turns on the ride leads to you banging your jaw against the restraint...somewhat violently...it's like being in the ring with Mike Tyson. After a couple of rides I found a way to hold on that meant I avoided the jabs, and it became an amazing ride.

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      My jaw was still tender over a week after riding it...I think that says it all.

      @davidjellis  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Knexpert_of_Kansas I am 5 ft 8 and my wife is maybe 5 ft 3...but we both got knocked about by the restraints. There IS a way to hold on that can prevent being slammed but it takes a while to perfect. This was one of the rides I was most looking forward to on our trip, but the restraints were a disappointment...without the bangs it would be a terrific coaster and well worth travelling to.

    • @knexpert_of_kansas8127
      @knexpert_of_kansas8127 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      They should have what's like on the Montana infinitium coaster in Mexico. I believe it used to have over the shoulder restraints but those were replaced with seat belts that go on the shoulders and chest. The only purpose those shoulder restraints serve is to keep the body in a proper upright position due to the high geforces. Anyways is it worth the trip to Canada?

      Ryan Penrod It's a powerful coaster and very good, the problem is the restraints, which bash you about a bit...if you can work out how to ride without banging your jaw it's one of the best coasters around, but get a jab in the jaw and it hurts!

      @Gametest56 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I rode this today, may seem like a more advanced roller coaster but it is actually really fun and seems about average after the first two drops. The most g force you'll get out of it is probably around 6.2 and you may almost pass out after the double loop if it's your first time

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Adam Rida Tabet As Lindsey said...I emailed the park in advance and got permission to film with the GoPro on a chest harness...in that way it was not a 'loose article' . The filming on this ride was all done under the supervision of the rides manager. Don't try to film on rides with a handheld camera without express permission of the ride operator or supervisor, as it is not as easy as it looks, especially with such a powerful ride like this one.

      It was not the worst...although three tragically died on this ride 5 children were killed on the Big Dipper at Battersea Fun Fair in 1972

    Man, I left it on this video and never got back, now it's a whole year later!
    They certainty used all the space above them as much as they could, you were pretty close to the ceiling. The idea of having a coaster inside is pretty cool, especially alongside others so it just looks like a huge jumbled mess, haha.

      It's such a massive ride to fit into a building...you wanted to duck your heads at the top of the lifthill!
