  • In this video I am reviewing the Hanwag TatraII GTX. A great trekking shoe which has been my go-to shoe for quite some time.

Hanwags zijn top. Loop zelf momenteel op het broertje van de Tara, de Lhasa II, heerlijke schoenen zijn dat.

This new model of Tatra II is really downgrade from the older Tatra II. Taking out the pair of locking hooks was really bad move and made these boots just plain ordinary, you just cant get perfect adjustment without those.

These still have locking hooks! If they don't lock, try lacing them from above and then downwards.

@@starthiking2871 no, they are not locking hooks. Just hooks. This change has been stated by Hanwag also. Maybe if i wax the laces i can get enough friction there, should try that. Have had old model for 5 years, excellent boots but the gtx is gone and wanted to try plain leather version, but really disapointed with the changes hanwag made.

@@perttulehikoinen3094 oh, I had both version 1 and 2 and the seam similar. Maybe lacing from above downwards, they provide more friction? They are not real locking hooks like found on other hanwag shoes, but version 1 didn't have those either.

@@starthiking2871 i try that, thanks for advice. I still have my old tatras, maybe a some shoerepairer could change those hooks from them to new pair. I really didnt know how much i preciated those small hooks until i was missing them. The idea of having different thightness in the upper and lower parts of lacing is just pure gold.

@@starthiking2871 there is a locking hook in your tatra I, you can see the one wider hook on your video at 0:55. It's just small change, but it really changes how the boot fits especially on longer treks. I really cant understand why Hanwag changed that.
