Yes, please do a video on the LIT LOGS!!! I would love to see how it has helped your kiddos over the years. I plan on doing read-aloud unit studies with my three girls this year. I purchased about 13 book studies off of TPT and bought the books to go along with them.
What do you recommend for teaching reading? Have you used gather round for that? I can’t decide…. I’m in between gather round and all about reading….. which is better?
Hi I see that you have them doing a Spanish elective. I am currently looking to an American Sign Language elective, or course for my elementary school children for this upcoming school year. Do you have an suggestions or advice?
Yes please do an unboxing and flip through of happy cheetah level 4 would love to see it!!! Also just wanted to share that I attempted to use song school Spanish with my kiddos and they were not very interested and I also felt that they weren't learning much Spanish. We found Homeschool Spanish Academy and they love it! It's online one on one classes with native Spanish speakers you can try a free class. my kiddos love it and use their new Spanish phrases daily.
How do you stick with it? My son will be in 3rd grade this year. Each year I try but end up putting him in school and feeling like a complete failure. To my embarrassment I’m going to admit I want to try again. I have him, a 2 year old and a 6mo old. Along with all the kids that are in and out of our house…I just want to be dedicated and have a purpose. I want to stop jumping him around. 😢
I'm working on my choices for this coming school year.... my oldest, a boy is going into 3rd grade, but he's not 3rd grade level - and it's my fault. K - I did okay, not great. 1st grade I didn't do that great and tried to stick with a LA curriculum that although it's a very good curriculum wasn't good for ME to teach and I was inconsistent. 2nd grade (and my daughter in 1st) my husband decided we'd do an all inclusive curriculum with lesson plans and even support - but we started "late", the reading and spelling were too far above his level the math didn't jive for him, we both came discouraged and we didn't even finish half a year of the curriculum. So I'm trying to figure our where/how to go from here. I'm familiar with a lot of your picks and it really resonated with me when you said, just meet the hold where they are, no matter the grade. I soooo feel like I need to rush this reading and writing that I too often show frustration. Any suggestions would be appreciated! 🙂 thanks for a great video.
I would love to talk about this with you in detail! Please feel free to email me. For now I would encourage you to take some time to really assess where your kids are in their different subjects (not where they “should” be or where you want them to be, but where they actually are). From there I would try to select curriculum that is not age/grade labeled, but skill based. It’s so difficult to get out of the public school mindset. I try to always remind myself that it is about progress and improvement (no matter how slow and small) not about what other kids/schools are doing!
would love more DITL homeschool videos 😊 you are now my spine when it comes to curriculum choices as I feel that we have similar goals when it comes to educating.
I tried Math U See (Pre-algebra) for my daughter and it wasn’t a good fit. Nothing was wrong with the program just didn’t fit her well. We tried two more and still wasn’t a fit. This coming semester we are trying No Nonsense Algebra. I hope it works.
I did not know that Artistic Pursuits had a newer version with DVDs. Might have to pick this up. I’m terrible about incorporating art. 😩 My daughter is an Art lover!

So great that you are meeting your child where they are and not where she is “expected” to be 🙌🏻 Love it!

Would love to see a flip through of Spelling you see.
The Nature one seems so cool but printing is such a huge expense. Close to $150 at Staples. Is there a cheaper way ?
I print at home very inexpensively. We purchased a brother ink tank printer several years back and it was definitely worth the investment!
Yes, please do a flip through of the new level C of Spelling You See :)
For Gather Round Science units. My daughter LOVED Inventions and Botany this past year (3rd grade)
Would love to see Lit Logs!!!

Aw that’s awesome! Yes I’m planning to do way more DITL/Vlog videos in the future.
Yeah IEW!!! We just started this with my 9 year old and she’s doing so great! It’s such a gentle approach!!
