I love this kind of video. I don't think most artists get just how important it is to share how we craft what we do, not just the final results. In a day full of click-and-done content, these manual exercises need to be shared and preserved, taught and learned. Even though that probably wasn't the intent, I know a bunch of us were just inspired to try and experiment with the methods shown here, and maybe adapt them into our own skillset.
I think that you could do a bigger documentary about all of theses projects and the processes behind them: the creative process and its ups and downs and complications and technical requirements in terms of research and preparation and production, as well as how you feel at different points and in retrospect.
"Steamed Hams x Clutch Cargo" has to be my favorite video from you. All this time, I thought you must have cheated in making it somehow, maybe you did the """"animation"""" digitally or something like that. But no; Animated on paper, hand-traced onto animation cels, photographed on a home-made multiplane camera, I didn't think you'd be crazy enough to do it *that* accurately! If I could subscribe twice, I would in a heartbeat!
I’ve made several of my own painted cels, and man, it’s so finicky. You have to be careful about what ink you use and let it dry or else it’ll smudge everywhere, you have to keep dust and fingerprints off the plastic because it’ll show, and even when you put globs and globs of paint on there it’s still at least a little transparent. I think there’s only one website that still sells actual cel paint. My Holbein acrylic gouache did the best at recreating that look, but I’m sure as hell not gonna waste that expensive paint by pouring onto cels. Big props to you for sticking with it and doing it for real, even with the limited amount of assets I’m sure it was still a pain in the butt.
Man just an absurd amount of effort and it paid off handsomely with how wonderful it all looks, a true work of art, keep up the great work, and have a lovely day!
Man! You painted the backgrounds on paper? Major Respect man! even if it is really simple animation (which like makes sense cause it's clutch cargo) it's still pretty cool how did it tje authentic way instead of doing it digitally
Awesome! Cel animation will likely never be used again in commercial projects but it's nice to be kept alive in passion projects.
You put so much effort into something that could've been done completely digitally. Respect.
multiple times, in multiple forms!
it wouldn't be the same if completely digital. Maybe like 90% there but the subtle imperfections make it.
Egads, my day is improved
The glimpse behind the curtain here cements your status as one who can steam a good ham

Thanks.
thats actually pretty cool that you made the video with actual old school cel animation, huge props!
Clutch cargo was ahead of it's time because it was using after effects motion tweening long before computers were widely available.

Thanks. If I were to do it again, I’d probably use paper cutouts rather than painted cels… maybe for a future non-hams project.
this man is the only human with actual free will
You should do Steamed Hams as a workplace safety video.

I never would have guessed you did this all manually, this is mad! Well done!
You did an incredible job with this, but you always do. The Master.
This is just as entertaining as the actually animation itself. I love watching the process and seeing it all come together
I just love that you actually made the cels and how good it all turned out

this is gorgeous. i've never seen such a dedication to the source material and appreciation for it. tyrone, you've outdone yourself.
One never put too much effort into making humoristic high quality art and comedy. Feel proud!
It's too perfect!
i have no choice but to stan a herculean-effort shitposter
This is honestly one of my favorite steamed hams edits of all time
Your creations are awesome! Keep up the great passionate work!
Man!

I love everything about this. Thank you!
Thank you so much effort for such a silly video
Silly videos are serious business!
Wow. This looks absolutely amazing. My compliments! Cheers from the Netherlands :)
Thanks
Absolutely incredible.
This is insanely awesome.
This was so cool to watch!!
Well, at least you used a digital camera.
trad is rad
incredible!
I don't like how this only has 808 views
It came out only three days ago, give it time.
@@TheLugiaSong Response couldn't be any more late but yeah true. It's got 2.5K views now
Thank the Incredibles short that parodies this cheesy show. SpongeBob as well used the similar technique in some scenes.
What program and effects did you do for the audio, I've wanted to get a similar effect for awhile now but I haven't been able to get any good results?
Hell yeah
Will there be a making of the ussr one, i really wanna see that one being made
Unfortunately I didn’t document the process… but I do have all the original artwork, so I might do a quick video showing all of the assets I used.
@TyroneDeise too bad there's no behind the scenes footage, but i think showing the artwork for it will do just fine
