    Awesome to see how many riders became more aware of and were able to change patterns of tension from this video. For more exercises to improve your riding routine, check out our "Stay in the Saddle: 67 Exercises for Horse and Rider" book here: www.horseclass.com/book/

    Great tips. My 3 would be 1) Breathe! Breathe out before you ask for halt, every time. 2) Slow your hands down. Ask slowly, give the horse time to respond. 3) Enjoy yourself. Never forget the thrill of actually being on a horse, even when you have goals to improve or things are difficult or you lose your nerve, don't let riding become a chore or something you kind of dread

    It's so cool that by just naming all the body parts, my awareness is immediately brought to that area and I am able to un-tense it.

      It is amazing what notices we find when we bring awareness to our body. Thank you for watching!

    I watched this on my couch and I did not expect to hold so much tension in all my body while theoretically relaxing. I did your exercice and it did so much good, I released a lot of tension, it felt amazing. I will try to scan my body on a horse soon, I might have some surprises ... Otherwise a riding tip that helped me a great deal to stop having too much tension in my legs was riding bareback, it finally helped me to let my legs "hang loose" instead of clinging and stiffening and it improved my foot in the stirrup position !

      Nicely done! It amazing what we can notice when we bring our awareness to our bodies.
      Riding bareback can really help us feel and be more aware of the the horse and our riding body position. Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Callie, a tip that has really helped me is the string position. It has helped me to become stronger in my core and more balanced. The book is fabulous thank you so much

    One tip to have a good connection with your horse is to be relaxed and have good posture! Good posture is having your shoulders back and sitting upright. If you do this, you will have a happy horse!😊

    Hello Callie, these exercises are simple to understand and do. I think they can be so useful for me since I started again classes. I 'm going to use the first one tomorrow, tighten my tense spine and nec and let it go. You can use it at home too ! :)
    I already knew the second one and used it for sitting trott and it helped good. I couldn't do sitting trott yet... Only posting trott. This idea of having a string above the head is used by physiotherapists too, to walk nicely like a model ! 😅😅👏🏻
    I think you 're really brave with your students !!! Put your fingers behind their feets on their stirrups... I hope you never have been squeezed by one of them. I' ll try too tomorrow.
    I wish I could do canter but the coach fears I could fall again too much. She insinuated I only should do ground work with horses due to age, when I saw here the other day. As I reacted saying no, I only desire horse riding , I love being on horses backs. ( I have nothing against ground working) She said I must not have the goal of cantering. I have not this thought. Only find again my good sit.😐 It 's so much good being back on a horse !!! 🐴😁😍😍
    Lots of love Callie and thanks for your so useful videos and precise informations. You look great ! 😊👍🏻💖💕

    Always a struggle to relax my shoulders. They tend to rise up when I'm in the canter.

    • @HorseClass
      @HorseClass  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shoulders are often a place where we hold tension and stress, so if we feel anxious in the saddle they might slowly lift upwards or bunch. Before you even transition into the canter, pretend you are holding an orange between your shoulder blades--squeezing and releasing it gently. As you do this, you'll find with each release it is easier to lower and relax your shoulders down and back. Then pick up your canter, and see if that makes a difference. If your shoulders rise up again, you can slow to repeat the exercise. Another important thing to remember to help with tension in the canter is to breathe into your transition. You can even push your belly out and fill that space with your breath if it helps you focus on it, and breathe into it again once you have picked up your lead. :) Hope this helps!

    I learned not to sit ridgid in the saddle. Move with the horse to not have tension in the back and hips

    • @HorseClass

      Excellent tip, Elke! Allowing our body to move with the horse helps us develop a dynamic and effective seat. Thank you for sharing!

    In the first section I realized my jaw was clenched, hands in fists, and shoulders raised up tight, gluts squeezed, toes curled! Tension everywhere 🤦🏻‍♀️

    Can I buy a thorough bred breed for my children 10 year old? mare or Gelding?

    • @mizroyalsan1351
      @mizroyalsan1351 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Probably not. Thoroughbreds are known for being head-strong and fiery. It depends on how long your 10 year old has been riding, how much confidence they have, and if they’ve ever rode a horse who is acting up. If everything checks out, get a gelding! They are known for being more calm than mares.

      I highly recommend you get advice from your child’s riding instructor, they will know your child’s riding abilities and if you don’t have a your child enrolled in a riding program I highly recommend you do that before buying a horse

      Hi Prabhu! We'd love to support you and your children in their learning about horses and riding, however we cannot give good advice about buying a particular horse without knowing your situation or the horse.
