6:20 Sondre: when driving wedges don't have your leg up against the tree as someone else is making the backcut. If the tree isn't round the bar might poke back through or they might move the power head too a different position to reach the far side and hit your leg.
It's Sondre. Sandra is a female name. Sondre is from the Old Norse name Sundri, which is possibly derived from the Norse word for South. In contrast, Sandra is from the Italian/Greek Alessandra/Alexandra.
Great job as always guys!!! Liked seeing Gordy show Sandra how to use that axe jk lol That many wedges, you know she was a big girl!!! Stay safe crew!!! Just wish Jed was still with us!!!
Hey Jake how are you buddy good to see you my buddy he met you a while back he's a good friend of mine I forget where he met you at but we're from the Pittsburgh area he passed away this week he's also a tree guy like I am we've been cutting timber for many many years and it's just broke my heart man I'm at a loss for words I know you went through the same thing it's tough buddy God bless you Jake stay safe my friend
The 394xp and 395xp saws are legendary. I've got a couple of them and they just run and run without fail. Super reliable, they run like a banshee, and love to go wide open. I run 32" bars on mine in NorCal. Fantastic saws. It's awesome to see your Norwegian buddy in the States too. Very cool.
What a treat! I woke up to this brand new GoT video this morning. I have my coffee and I'm settling in to watch. It's great to see Sondre from your Norwegian Wood series again, and Gordy is always fun. He met his face cut on that Humboldt like a homing pigeon. What a great cutter he is! It's gonna be a GOOD DAY!
They gave him a hard time at customs, but others just flood across. Sorry, but that kinda stood out for me. Welcome to the US sir…really hope you enjoy your visit with Jake! Really enjoy this channel
Great Video, really enjoy watching you guys. We cut plenty trees of all shapes and sizes down here in New Orleans and surrounding rural areas. Thanks for taking the time to video, we rarely have time or the extra set of hands to make good videos so the footage is nice to see. You guys look like us, but way younger. One thing I always make sure that we do for safety.......cut anything that can stab a kid who may go poking around after you leave, like the remaining hinge on the stump especially. I see guys leaving those daggers sticking up all the time. Great video, thanks and keep up the great work
This video was missing one thing but I can’t quite put my finger on it ….huh good job nicely done but I can’t help but feel something is wrong here like there’s a puzzle piece gone guess it’s just a feeling I have that’s all hats off to you guys great job
great job getting them down safely! and on the mark. just amazing taking down such large trees and not having issues EXCEPT FOR THE NAILS! how did they get that deep, and oriented in the vertical. always the last tree! it did not look as he hit them, still rusty with no chain marks! wonderful video!
I thought the Norwegian’s technique looked a little…odd… when he was hitting those wedges. It was funny to see that Gordy agreed and stepped in to show him how it’s done on these big trees.
The 395 came out in 1996. It has few changes other than the cylinder and intake boot (vs block), to its predecessor, the 394, which came out in ‘91. So damn near 35 years of the same platform. It’s really impressive. Kinda like following the 044-046-440-460-461 Stihl saws. That 1128 series had some serious staying power too.
I've got an 046 from the 80's (bought it from an old logger friend). One of my favorite saws. Had to have the top end rebuilt. With a sharp chain and 32 or 36 in. bar, makes short work of fir or pine the width of the bar! Also bought an 084 from the same guy, about as old, also rebuilt it and it is a great saw, but heavy. He's got a Germany made 090, but wants too much for it. Just wondering -- do those old saws (stock) have a better power to weight ratio than the newer saws (with touchier carbs), or just more power? The logger said run the big saws with full skip, square cut chain --- which I've done; however, its unforgiving because once I hand file it a few times, it won't cut straight! I'm pretty good at hand-filing round chain (on smaller saws). Yea, I know its because the teeth aren't all the same length -- but when you cut through some fencing or and/or nails in the tree (seems to happen to me often) you get some bad teeth and you tend to shorten them relative to the rest when hand sharpening; seems to be more of a problem with square cut vs. round file. So I send my square cut chains out to a shop. Loggers know to high stump trees with fencing (even if just see a wire or two is showing), but I ran a tree service and those had to come all the way down.
Have you ever cut balsam fir? I just had one snap the hinge, spin on the stump and hang up. I had probably 15% hinge as I was trying to drop it slower. It just broke off, I faced it into the lean too.
jeez, hearing someone describe something made in mid 2000's as 'old' makes me feel ancient! That sound at 8:00 fantastic. That 'cow cam' made me laugh. XD
Everytime you cut a big tree next to a house like that, I think of your "Idiots with chainsaws!!! My first tree as a business owner" video. Amazing video to watch if you haven't watched it; life is a learning experience
WHAT a LIFE!!!! Make money...Make Friends all over the world!!....Travel!!...do what you Love and are good at it!!! Did that in my 20's in Oil Exploration. MADE A SHIT TON OF MONEY!!! After 5 years of college as a Geophysicist. And yes, worked with Norwegians in North Sea. Not nearly as bad as Bering Sea off Alaska, but as a Client Rep for BP, they gave me a Swedish blonde with large melons as my roommate!! 😍 The plan is to ALWAYS KEEP the Client Rep HAPPY!!! BEST trip I ever did!! Better than a room full of beer and liquor...which is normally how US companies treat you. Much prefer women at sea!!! Never saw the Norwegian Fjords....but wanted to ski Norway. But Norwegian women will do for my adventure as a young man!!! 😛😍
When you were having issues with the motor in Arizona was it a big altitude change to where you typically use that saw? The altitude change could affect the air fuel ratio in the carburetor settings for your saw.
Yeah I was looking at Gordy go hard on the safety squints and the safety wince like isn't there a helmet out there with something you can drop down like a *shield* to protect your face and eyes from debris coming off the saw 😂
I have a couple 592XP saws. Great potential, but imho Husqvarna over rushed the R&D and released too soon. Particularly the first one I got, I’ve had nothing but problems. The 2nd one was 15 months later and even sounds completely different.
Husky some years ago, bought Jonsered,,, for the engineering team. The saws produces by Jonsered and Husky 20 years ago are absolutely the best. On the second tree the sawyer stayed much too long cutting. Once the tree starts to go walk or run away. Especially because of the rotted core, a barber chair will kill you dead.
Funny how they gave Sondre a hard time at customs but yet we let 1k's run across the boarder then pay them to stay 😂😂. Awesome video cant wait for the jext one!!!
I saw some K+H wedges in this vid. A friend of mine lives about a mile away from me in a house that he bought from the people who started the K+H Grass Valley wedge company in their garage. The landscaping in their yard was all edged with 7 1/2" wedges. I once had about 50 of those wedges from that yard.
Gordy once again demonstrating why he is the MF man, and at the top of his game. I would pay to come learn from you for a week, keep up the great work!
Brilliant video Jacob as ever. Super quality on the picture really stands out. Do you guys not like using high lift wedges? Are they commonly used over in the states?
Jake- why do you do so shallow a face cut, then beat on wedges to fall? I know that this is common practice, but it’s a hell of a lot of work! What is wrong with 50-55% face and 40-45% back cuts?
Jacob, A long time viewer. I simply don't understand why you & Gordy are so good using hearing protection, but neglect any eye protection. Be safe please!
Bit puzzled as the tree is older than the house by the looks of it... Why build it there, and/or not take the tree down before building? Or is it a very slow-growing long-lived species they expected to outlive the house (which still seems a gamble)?
Loved the video guys and have followed you for quite some time. I note that you don't wear protective eyewear that would stop sawdust coming from the saws getting into your eyes. - is there a reason for this or just a personal preference when working? Cheers from Australia :)
Jacob, you may not read this but thank you for using the word "rippin'" to mean cutting through wood well. I got accosted on my channel for saying that and not meaning in the context noodling. Anyway, love to do a collab (I'm in Snohomish county) and/or having you on my firewood addicts podcast. Keep cuttin'!! (Go pinkway!)
Great video Jacob 👍 I really like the parts with me in them 😆 I
😂
You couldnt find a bigger tree for that little saw? Holy shit man 😂
😂😂
You should change your channel name to Gordy of TreeSon
Me too 😅😅
Gordy always delivers the best zingers without being a real prick, ya know! He's my kind of guy!! Seems like a fun dude!

Not a good habit
Came here to say this as well. What a gong show. Huge NO.
I found that so hard to watch!! 😱
great to see sondre doing well in life. i remember his story from the old video, a good dude who has paved his own way
Good to see sandre for sure
another great video brought to us by G & J. Great to see Sandra from Norway - enjoy your visit

What can I say…really awesome to see Geordie and looking forward to seeing Sandre in the coming vlogs

Dang man I am sorry to hear that. God bless you too, thanks for all your kind words buddy
Great work! Open fields are a rare luxury! Thanks for the vid!

Dang Gordy, experience is a great value. That’s an impressive cut.
What a treat! I woke up to this brand new GoT video this morning. I have my coffee and I'm settling in to watch.

It's gonna be a GOOD DAY!
Also helps to knock the bark off where your wedges are going. The bark doesn't help lift the tree at all and it limits your travel with the wedge.
Excited to see you bringing new people! He's probably stoked to be here
God bless blue collar guys! Great video Jacob.
That's really cool that you brought Sondra over here. Really cool.
That was awesome dropping that 2 big ones....superb work.....stay safe and see you soon
They gave him a hard time at customs, but others just flood across. Sorry, but that kinda stood out for me. Welcome to the US sir…really hope you enjoy your visit with Jake! Really enjoy this channel
What?
Yeah it’s so backwards 💯
i guarantee nobody ever 'just floods across' usa customs and immigration.
I really enjoy the US, and i am already looking forward to more trips here! Except popping my panties at customs, that kinda sucked..
He flew to Mexico and walked across the border he could have gotten a free flight to Washington and a😅 debit card
Gordy reminds me of a real life Paul Bunyan! Great content. You guys do amazing work.
The cow cam gave me a good chuckle lolol
Nice to see a fellow Viking ;) Greetings from Sweden :) Love GoT!

You, Buckin’ on Vancouver Island, and August down in Grants Pass are my Big Tree PNW style guys. Love to all of you Pros.
Great job Jake...... keep em' coming.
This is so awesome! I remember watching that whole Norway video when it first came out!
Super smooth transition from the helmet to the phone at 9:06 very cool.
Gordy makes it look so effortless with that small bar!!!
I love this channel, could watch it 24/7
Always good videos keep posting 👍
Really good video!! Picture is awesome
Happy to know that Sondre is "studying" with you for a month! :)
Wow, those trees are truly magnificent!
gordy really is at the top of the league! fantastic work fellas 😁
Great video all the way around!❤❤❤
Love your videos! We had two firs that size and near our house taken down in March here in Maple Valley. We felt them when they hit the ground.
This video was missing one thing but I can’t quite put my finger on it ….huh good job nicely done but I can’t help but feel something is wrong here like there’s a puzzle piece gone guess it’s just a feeling I have that’s all hats off to you guys great job
love to watch and hear the big ones fall❤
That weather looks amazing
great job getting them down safely! and on the mark. just amazing taking down such large trees
and not having issues EXCEPT FOR THE NAILS! how did they get that deep, and oriented in the vertical.
always the last tree! it did not look as he hit them, still rusty with no chain marks! wonderful video!
love these kinds of videos thanks Jacob!!
Nice felling guys! And amazing video quality, must have been absolutely perfect lightning! 👍🔥
That was a good one & with Sondre.
Just watching the action. lol
Your name always gets my hopes up for America when I see your name pop up.❤
Your son did a good job with the sharpening! Gordy could do worse than ask him to fix up today's chain.
my 394 is a 1996 > Love seeing the 93cc saws eat. I just restored one on my channel. Happy cutting Jake !
Those big guys with full canopy make the most awesome sound. Impressive.
Nice work guys...
Another Great Video Thx Guilty of Treeson
Glad you enjoyed it
I thought the Norwegian’s technique looked a little…odd… when he was hitting those wedges. It was funny to see that Gordy agreed and stepped in to show him how it’s done on these big trees.
Gordie was so polite with asking to help
Love all your posts. Thanks for the entertainment.
Gordy showing who is Top Dog again…very nice work all of ya
Gotta get me thoseDogs for my 572
Excellent sound quality when the tree falls at the 8:00 min mark... Glad you killed the saw so we could hear it.. Thats like some ASMR stuff
Gord cuts like a surgeon, superb precision
Nice match up on that humbolt cut
Seeing dude rest his leg up against your back cut on the first tree gave me so much anxiety while you were cutting 😂

I don't know why they think IT Sounds Like that
Love the growl of a big Huski

The 394 came out in1997 , and the first run of the 395 was 2000 or 2001 somewhere in that time frame,

Sondra needs to take down a big one! That would be so awesome.
If he does, it won’t be on TH-cam…

6.20 screaming 'get your fricken leg off the tree'. Good of you not to edit it out Jacob, good learning point right there. Regards from Scotland.
Way to go need more content
Gordy once again demonstrating why he is the MF man, and at the top of his game. I would pay to come learn from you for a week, keep up the great work!
Gordy is just too dang cool.
Dude whaat I thought those nice looking shots were filmed on an expensive DSLR. So surprised they were shot on a phone! They look great.
Love the safety squint

We thank his ancestors for bringing the highly invasive Norway maple here, it keeps my house warm all night :)

Nice great to c bro from the north'
Bit puzzled as the tree is older than the house by the looks of it... Why build it there, and/or not take the tree down before building? Or is it a very slow-growing long-lived species they expected to outlive the house (which still seems a gamble)?

Great precise felling, nice job but why don't you guys use eye protection ?
Thats Crazy about that Tree beieg Rotton and have a Nail in it 😮
Gordy can bang a wedge. Flawless technique.
Man that big husky is really singing the blues lol.
Awesome job! I'm looks ng to buy a good Husqvarna 394XP do you guys know of one for sale? No luck here in GA so far
15:25 at first I thought the flat spot was to allow the bar to reach all the way in.
