Drill it in the middle how? I didn't get it.. And it's not a lot of work, we took longer only cuz of the video and talking otherwise it's quick. And thank you for sharing your advise really appreciate it!
I was wondering too but it's probably because it have a angled rectangular hole right in the middle to put your fingers when your open the trunk (you can see it at 4:55). My guess is the camera need to be on a flat surface for the correct view

Middle has an angle where you can pull up the trunk, that's why we drilled on the side
