My first house guests in ages just left and I'm feeling your vibes of loving having them but so glad to have a quiet home again. I just recently got a couch bed, plus other friends nearby have always had better setups for guests. So was really great to reciprocate for friends who have hosted me many times since they moved from down the street to a few hours away. But now it's quiet and I kind need a nap before being able to properly focus on work!

How fun is that! Our neighbour has a crocheted santa hat and has been wearing it every day walking past our window. Definitely adds some christmas cheer.
Par boiled potatoes, left to steam dry and then shaken in the pot to bash up the edges. Oil in the tray in the oven until it gets to smoking point, turn them over every 20 mins and cook for an hour! They're so so so good.

100% this! It was so nice to have then and SO nice to host people in our house and feel like quasi-adults. But the quiet afterwards was also lovely.
