I've almost given up wanting to have spiritual friends, let alone trying to date spiritual types. Lots of spiritual narcs running around these days too, they know how to take a beautiful spiritual message or idea and use it to manipulate and control others. I think there are a lot of messed up people who become spiritual as a way to genuinely work through pain, trauma etc... but then there are others who see it as the perfect way to find new targets and sources of narcissistic supply.
Unfortunately, most of new age spirituality is completely fake, therefore the people who are into it, also are. I found this out when I was a teenager after I read dozens, if not hundreds of New Age volumes. I then started reading the old stuff, the real heavy stuff (Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Puranas, Sutras, etc...) and learnt how to meditate properly. It still took me more than a decade to get anywhere with my spirituality. I'm actually allergic to your average New Age person, I can't abide them at all.

Spot on.... how i actually think.
Humour is so needed to point out the things that sometimes can't be said in others ways . But humour can also be quite cruel. I think its true that people who find it hard to fit into the world of work and mainstream life can tend towards a spiritual way of understanding life and themselves. i would argue that these 'spiritual types' as you are talking about are often highly sensitive people who are literally overwhelmed a lot by the pace and intensity of life. Maybe they do end up defining their life less by what they do at work and perhaps they need support from family to survive in a world they can find overwhelming. As you might guess, some of this is my story. We sure do need humour to cut through the crap... but I just want to acknowledge I can feel an 'ouch' in here too. I'm not saying not to do this kind of video.... really. I'm just saying it's can be a laugh at the expense of real people with real feelings trying to get by in a world that often doesn't make a lot of sense. Peace bro....;-)
Felt that 'ouch' too. Can relate to many of what was said. The thing is that people think spirituality means "love and light always and forever 24/7 with no negativity at all.

I get why it can be funny to some but I felt the lack of empathy in this as well. Having been thrust onto the spiritual path in a life-altering wtf instant and adjusting to the new reality is no joke. Its painful and isolating (along with the good stuff) and your diet and feelings about your work can change whether you like it or not. I haven't crawled out of the hermit hole enough to consider dating yet but the video title sounded fun. I guess it's like any other blanket generalization people make about a group, it doesn't account for the variations. But to those that felt the sting in it, I'd say they know not what they do and it doesn't matter. If they did, they wouldn't make light of it and they wouldn't feel right about putting others down or joking about the Dalai Lama in any way. The video and the laughter are serving those enjoying it, but I just wanted to say "I hear you" to this subset of viewers. I'm reminded of how lucky I am for getting my @ss handed to me to wake up. ; )

I agree that a lot of individuals are not on the right path to finding who they are through their spirituality. At the same time, I feel like there is this great awakening of the mind in a lot of individuals in this modern age through exploring their individual spiritual journeys. I think it is incredibly negative and pessimistic to look at this concept as individuals pursuing a fake spirituality or a fake purpose.

I lived in Asheville, NC for years, And worked in co-ops and natural food stores, as well as restaurants. There are more bliss bunnies, star-children, hippies, new agers, yoga instructors and spirit guides than you can climb over walking through three blocks downtown, not to mention the homeless and panhandlers. This video Couldn't be more spot on, I'm surprised they didn't discuss their fiber intake and juicing too.

Can I just ask everyone... Reading some of the comments, found that some participated in group festivalties and "hippie cultural" stuff... As if branded in a group. What is the need most have to be in a group, to be branded as one member of a certain group? What is the need, if you're spiritual, to make part of a group?
I came to realize, that most groups never correspond to what we expect. People have their own views and perspectives of the world and their own spirituality.... I find odd and interesting to see, that the majority of people, have to feel like they are part of a group, in order to practise something, a belief, whatever. Why is that? Can't we find guidance within? Is not enough the guidance we have within? What is the need to be part of a group and be labeled like everyone else?
I am only asking as a curious person... I was branded when I was born... But I am completely apart now from this religious group I was branded into. I am finding a new path, but I can't see myself attached to a label anymore, my identity, my spirituality, their mine and unique.

The problem with alot of "spiritual" people these days is that they get their spirituality from books or internet and they never do any self work or go within themselves.
