This was the best soul tag I've seen yet. Al Green, Teena Marie, Clark Sisters, Prince, Al Green, Sade, all great choices! And that Van Hunt??? That was a pleasant surprise.

Fantastic to see The Dramatics kicking off your tag. And so wonderful to see Lisa Stansfield and Lady T as the "blue-eyed" soul artists. Lady T 's "Portuguese Love" really shows off her amazing range. And George Michael's "Older" album is wonderful. Didn't know Bobby Womack worked with Rungren and yes, couldn't agree more an Isley Bros box set would be on my wish list! Looking forward to checking out LadySoul's channel . Great tag featuring so many killer soul artists and groups.

@@MrLovell1971 Must have been an incredible experience seeing her live. She was taken away way too soon. I saw a brief documentary about The Dramatics and apparently that song, "What You See Is What You Get" whas a phrase the comedian Flip Wilson used when he played "Geraldine" in his tv show skits .

First off.. TROOP!!! Damn dude, you went there, huh?! I still have my Attitude CD, never had the LP, unfortunately. I'll have to dig for a copy next timeI hit up a shop.
I was all about some New Jack back in the day. Of course, the Tony's was required listening, being from the Bay and all.
Teena!!! One of the baddest singers of all time! That was my early Jr. High days... Teena, Rick, Midnight Star, Egyptian Lover, Mary Jane Girls, etc.. That's still my favorite of hers too.. Square Biz, of course, a classic. The title cut is my jam though!
Dramatics = essential grown people's soul music! It really doesn't get any better than that.. i.e. the REAL shit!
Van Hunt... supremely dope and very underrated and overlooked! Been a fan since day 1. Played that CD to death! The follow up is insanely great as well and desperately needs a vinyl release! Dude is on a whole other level, as far as modern soul singers/songwriters!
Speaking of Van Hunt and artists more people should know about, Rahsaan Patterson!!! That dude is f*****g unreal.. BEAST! Truly one of the greats! Albums are all stellar, live shows are out of this world and he & Van Hunt wrote on my favorite songs.. "The Best"..!
Todd = Legend!!! Interesting fun fact about Nearly Human, two of my good friends and bandmates played on that record.. My homie Nate Ginsberg, who sadly passed away not too long ago, plays keys on a couple of cuts, he was in Graham Central Station for a while as well. And then Mike Rose, who laid down trumpet on a few cuts, including the one with Womack! They both had some cool Rundgren stories too.. :)
And I see ya got all the old school essentials. Not much needs to be said, other than any self respecting lover of soul music should have each and every one of those LPs on their shelves.
Rainbow Children is one of his most brilliant musical statements! And yep, that tour ruled!
    Kendricks!
Woman's Gotta Have It, one of the greatest cuts of all time! The band is ridiculously on point on that record!
Sugar Minott, there ya go! Taking me back to my mid teens, skateboarding and listening to punk rock and reggae jams all summer long via Sugar Minott, Pato, Mikey Dread, Yellowman, Eek-A-Mouse, Steel Pulse. Just all around glorious music!
And ok, I was gonna say, where the hell is Maxwell? haha..! That live record rules! I'm really hoping that VH1 Storytellers set he did a few years back (Black Summer Nights era) gets some kind of DVD release. That was one of the best live performances of his I've ever seen.
    Sade! Nuff said!
Lastly, where's the Mint Condition bruh?!?! haha.. next time!
Anyway, superb selection! Hope you're well dude.. Peace.. DC

Dave man I appreciate you stopping by and Mint Condition saw them 3 times i definitely should have mentioned them I do have their debut on wax . Sugar Minott was VCLt man I was blown away I completely slept on him his voice and delivery killer . Troop was my group I recently finally track down the 12” of “Spead my Wings” 12” man it a very one to find it feature the long version and the Clark Kent Rap and instrumental. New Jack Swing was so fun back then I missed those days I was just getting out of high school. Rahsaan Patterson is another underrated singer I saw him on tour with Me’shell Peace beyond Passion tour and he was one of her background singers during the show he has those killer vocals. You definitely should grab that Van Hunt on wax it sounds amazing. Lady T I miss do much she was definitely my heart her voice came from the heavens . I never knew that about that Todd Rundgren album . Yes the Tonys can’t wait for them to tour I’ll definitely be there brother. Dave it was great hearing from you take care my brother . Peace ✌️

@@MrLovell1971 Hey brother! Yeah, Mint Condition are one of the best live bands I've ever seen! And yeah, I figured you must've had some of their music in the collection.
RE: Troop.. that's awesome man, yeah, I really gotta get some on vinyl. I see Attitude pop up in the bins every now and again, but yeah, that 12" is a little harder to find these days.
And yup, Meshell and Rahsaan are pretty tight, that was an amazing tour and record!
And I definitely plan on getting that Van Hunt LP.. I remember when they were talking about releasing it on vinyl and for some reason, I forgot and missed out, but I see it's up online still, so I'll make sure to grab a copy.
Anyway, I'll talk to you soon, have a great weekend! DC

that's a nice Sade compilation, I think I had it on CD back in the day. Huge Sade fan, can't wait for the next album three decades later. I do have to disagree with you about Moon and the Stars remix. Old Hov is as boring of a rapper as it gets, I have a hard time not nodding off during his verse. The studio version way better. Wish the band had chosen a great rapper to feature on the remix since it was the only time they went in that direction. Tariq or Big Boi would have been a huge improvement.
