You took an interesting house with character to one that looks like every other flip. You could have worked with some of the light fixtures and door details. Did you think we would not see the stains on the white smooth cooktop?

Yes, removing wallpaper is labor intensive, but painting over it is pure WRONG. Total lack of respect for future buyer to paint over wallpaper. Do a few hours of work and remove the wallpaper.

I agree that painting over the wallpaper is not right but the owner must be having a budgeting issue..

Sometimes it’s not even difficult…depends on the glue used, etc. I’ve taken some off and it’s easy peasy, but sometimes it’s difficult.
Regardless, i agree, painting over it is a really lame thing to do to the buyer.

Totally agree. If I bought a house and found out it has painted over wallpaper, I would be furious.

We had two large rooms ( kitchen and dining rooms ) with 32 year old wallpaper removed for $700 ( tipped the gentleman and his partner an extra $100 because of the perfect job they did ). My husband initially wanted to just paint over it 😱, but I told him to let me find someone who could do it reasonably priced. It was well worth having perfectly clean and smooth walls to paint!

I check for paint over wallpaper and that’s an immediate no to that house!

We moved a lot, and I learned to say absolutely No to paint over wallpaper! I let someone else buy that problem. It looks lovely but closeup inspection will give it away every single time.

Did you have a special process for painting the wallpaper so that it will not be a future problem? Do you disclose to buyers that the walls are paint over wallpaper

Looks great. But painting over wallpaper will be a problem and you will see every seam. Other than that. Just beautiful

Please do not paint over wallpaper. I have sadly discovered that the previous owners did this in my house. Now I have to deal with it.

If I were buying this house I'd be hella pissed that someone painted wallpaper making it impossible to remove it!

The base colour changes and paint, and bedroom created - great. The staging of the furniture and accessory choices - minus 10. I’m shaking my head.

The transformation is fantastic. It shows well. I didn't like the painting over the wallpaper. I think it should have been removed. Did the house sell? If so, did you get your price? Where is the house located....city or state?

Ugggh I loved the wallpaper so much!

The staged version looks like the owners are struggling to pay off college loans, the furniture cheapens the house incredibly. You can tell by the back yard this is a nice neighborhood. EBay sells real hand made rugs all day-every day for less than $100, there is absolutely no reason to purchase a basic machine rug, and even more of a reason not to display one. If budget is an issue you can buy used art. The condition is generally good, and you can buy nicer pieces for the same money or less than you would spend at homegoods, target and the other home department stores. Love how the doors and trim came out with the clean paint, fantastic.

Just no... this is not staging, its putting lipstick on a pig type of renovation - will work on camera but in reality it just adds work to undo your "lets make it neutral"

What a beautiful transformation but painting wallpaper!!!!!! That’s absolutely horrible! At some point the wallpaper paste will break down and delaminate from the wall. What a mess to deal with for future home owners. That’s a total hack job taking corners like that.

    • @gracemoore384
      @gracemoore384 ปีที่แล้ว +11

I totally agree. What a horrid mess to leave a buyer . It will take 3x as much work to remove after painting. Just do it while it’s fresh & unpainted.

Yes, horrible idea! It’s just as easy to rent a steamer and steam it off as it is to paint. I’ve done it a lot!

My house has painted wall paper . I bought it 7 years ago and I didn’t notice 2 bedrooms have painted wall paper. The seams show and I felt duked when I discovered it.

I wouldn't even consider a house that had painted over wallpaper it is pretty simple to remove until you paint it. The front bedroom should have had the open wall enclosed so you could have a foyer and put the door on the hallway wall. I have remodeled over 20 homes it's not that complicated.

I would never buy a house with more concrete than yard. Also, people, please don't fill your yard with rocks! As a gardener, that's a turn off.

I'm not sure who you are fooling by painting over wallpaper. That's just gross and will have to be ripped off, walls patched and painted anyway. Really bad advice!

The deception of this video is whats overwhelming to me.....I know that this comment will be erased, but maybe a few will see it before the owner will discover its been posted, but it hurts me to see the deception of it....see I get it...I know that the staging is real, its authentic, but what I dont understand is why would you use inauthentic photos????? Like the work is excellent, but why use picture that simply dont match???? You guys thin that we are stupid and we wouldnt catch that the windows wouldnt match etc.....I dont feel like going into detail but, my issue is that we get it, you did a make over, but you dont need to embellish the severity of the before and after........thats coorpoaratism.....if thats in fact a stupid word!!!! I just hat this system, a system of manipulation. Why not just simply be authentic. Your work is excellent, why act like its more than what it is???
Just forget it.....sorry the typos etc...

And one more thing, did he come to inspect the work, or himself????????????.......lolollololololol!!!!! Im kidding, but its painfully obviously cute, only if your in tuned with narcissism.......the mirrors triggered that mans addictions.......just sayin..
