    I'm so proud of you for sharing this and know more people have to deal with it than we realize.. so being able to talk about it together is super helpful. I'm definitely a "do lower priority tasks or procrastinate instead of doing what needs to get done" kind of writer. I need to be consistent with exercising and your other tips to help lift my mood.     As a psychologist I can say, that sadly anxiety and depression are very often, I cannot think about anyone who does not have at least one of them. I am so glad that medication helped and I can totally agree that sports, healthy living and contact with loved ones are very amazing cures.     Thanks for sharing about such personal things, Holly! Knowing that other writers are struggling with the same thing as me makes the struggle more bearable! I have rollercoaster emotions about my writing life: sometimes I'm like "yes I am a writer and I can do all the things! 💪" And other times I feel like "what was I thinking I can't actually do any of this it's too much." I never feel like I'm doing enough and constantly think I should take more on, while at the same time wondering how I will ever do it all. But despite the struggles I love the writing life and I'm glad to be in it with people like you! 😊

    My story is similar to yours. I've been going through depression since about mother's day. In fact, I was in the emergency room on mother's day because of my depression. As you, a lot of my depression is writing related, esp with finding writing friends on social media. Growing up, we didn't have the internet, so friendship was up close and personal. A lot of my anxiety comes from trying to make friends on social media, and feeling out of my element. However, from my understanding, dealing with social media is a part of the author platform. I've stepped back from my writing to deal with my depression. Thank you so much for making this video. I needed to see this!

    I suffer from anxiety and depression as well. Mine stems from 2 big things. The sudden death of my mom many years ago and my own near-death experience after surgery. I never dealt with it after mom but did finally get help after my own experience. I will say that the hardest part for me was that I had been dealing with both for so long that when I got on medication and I stopped feeling anxious and depressed, it freaked me out more. Suddenly I was feeling a way I wasn't used to in a long long time. But once I realized what was happening, a new world was opened to me.
    Anyway, what got me back into writing after many years of not doing it was finally moving past my depression and found that writing was a great outlet for all that was going on inside me. I started journaling and then that led to more writing. I also do exercise and lots of walking to clear my head.

    Great video, Holly! As always. And proud that you were able to share this. I definitely deal with a lot of depression and anxiety. Coping usually deals with just making sure I give myself enough alone time. When it gets really bad though, I usually end up playing lots of Zelda--which is literally the only thing that helps me when I have panic attacks.
    Oh, Zuko. He so crazy.

      WriteHollyDavis You know it's weird though. I feel like if I didn't have depression and anxiety, I wouldn't be much of a writer, so I'm cool with it. That may sound weird, but I've come to own these feelings.
