Mate, I have to say, having someone who is an industry professional teaching Blender is simply amazing. While other youtubers are excellent, you show and demonstrate fundamental understanding that pours from the screen because you know what to change in Blender to suit your skill set. I have used Blender for a long time and the fact you have come in with a few months experience to reveal a side of Blender I have never seen before made me feel like a beginner all over again in the best way possible. Please keep doing tutorials for Blender and I wish you all the best because you deserve it. Cheers!!
Thank you :) Really appreciate your comment and already working on the next Blender course for my gumroad marketplace now. There'll be a trailer for once it's done and it's going to be great. The previous tutorials should serve a good base to take it to the next level from there. I will have more free tutorials in the future too of course.
Just when I was thinking it's time to make a switch for Blender, my favorite 3D tutor comes up with a Blender tutorial. We're lucky to have you Tim, keep up inspiring and being awesome!

How convenient, I just changed jobs and have to learn Blender, then this comes out a day later ! Thanks a lot
Wow, man. I learned Max by following your grenade vdos. I started using Blender couple years ago and it's an awesome 3d software. Your channel is going to blow up if you do blender tuts.
One thing I'd like to add is that I have never been a friend of all the 3DsMax vs blender quarrels going on - it does have some funny memes though 😂 Both are excellent pieces of software so I don't look at it from "which side are you on perspective" but more from an angle of what makes a good software worth making tutorials for and how good is it for doing the actual modeling work. It's a win win for both sides. I love 3ds Max and Blender. From my perspective I see Blender only getting better from where it's now and ultimately the end result matters. In general what can be achieved with 3ds Max can also be done with Blender and vice versa. One question that gets asked a lot is whether it's worth learning Blender over 3DsMax (or Maya) if you want to make an entry into the game industry where many studios are still using Autodesk products for the most parts. I'd say that if you get really good with one software it won't be hard to understand the other and that's also why I have tutorials for both. It will expand your horizon to be able to compare them and make you an even better 3D Artist. Another thing is that in most companies I ever worked for it would not make a difference what software I use unless perhaps you make very unique objects that require certain tools that have been specifically written for only one software. Even then there's a good chance you could do the main work in Blender, import the result into the next software and do the final export from there. At the end 3ds Max or Blender is just a tool like a hammer that allows us to forge 3D Art with it 🔨
I am very happy when I read balanced and objective comments, i've learned a lot from your 3DsMax tutorials and masterclasses and, sure, i'll do with blender ones. Thank you in advance for your excellent job and keep rocking!
@@comedyguy911 Sure, gonna do that later the day and put it into the description :) But if you follow the tutorial all the way you will have 1:1 the same shortcuts too. A few shortcuts are also assigned to plugins so you would need to install those for it to work. Again all explained in the tutorial.
@@ChamferZone I used 3ds max first for like 8 years then switched to Blender and found out there’s a lot of awesome features that make modeling more convenient in Blender than 3ds max like hitting G twice and then C to enable edge constraints that can go beyond the original mesh which 3ds max cannot do. Or the Blender’s Shrinkwarp modifier that’s a thousand times better than the Conform tool in 3ds max. That being said there are still lots of things that 3ds max doing better than Blender like the FFD modifier or Include/Exclude lights etc. All in all I still use both 3ds max and Blender by switching around between these 2 to get the best out of each program. p.s I can’t thanks you enough for making that killer AKM tutorial. I became good at 3ds max because of your awesome tutorials!
I am slowly getting Blender dialed in. I am so impressed with Blender. I am also blown away when I draw up a model in MOI, Moment of Inspiration. And send it over to Blender. And then I coat it with the red gloss matcap....oooooo. It looks so radical. Wonder if you tried MOI? Thanks again Tim.

Quite possibly the best and most thorough tutorial for Blender newcomers on the TH-cams. Brilliantly structured and awesome TH-cam timeline links to make navigation easy. Thanks Tim.
@@Wenedi The software used by production companies is technically more complex and more adaptable to large production pipelines, but I am not making the distinction between large scale production and single person contractors. A competent and knowledgable artist can create good work with basic free-ware. I guarantee you a majority of "professionals" working for companies know less than 50% of the capabilities of any given software. They are highly compartmentalized and know only what they need to know for their particular task. No, you won't be creating the next Godzilla/Marvel mashup spectacular using freeware, but simply saying "I know how to use Maya" doesn't make you an artist. But anyway it's a worn-out semantical argument . If you need to know Maya or Max then learn it and get that job.
Can't wait for more tutorials for blender! Your mk2 grenade and ak were my first 3ds max tutorials ever back in late 2015. Now I work in gamedev myself, so I got quite sentiment for your tutorials :)

Big fan of u SIR. I am a Maya user, i never used Blender but still i watched this full tutorial only for u and it was great. I loved the animation of Bullets and i guess i will install Blender to follow u in creating that Render. Extremely excited for more tutorials. ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for putting this together, it's very good. A couple notes: 00:40:33 Loopcut tool is Ctrl+R, or accessible from the Edge Menu (Ctrl+E). 01:07:00 Previously created materials can be accessed from the dropdown next to "+new" button (Material sphere icon). Linking materials is very useful, but assigning all materials to all objects like this is not ideal.
Awesome, thanks for pointing that out. Yes, that seems very useful for the materials and good to access loopcut through a shortcut. It's definitely often needed :)
I'm not a designer nor a programmer, just someone who is curious but while i was watching your video i have just noticed that what they call "web 3.0", "The Metaverse", "NFT's" will expand tremendously opportunities and creativity for digital workers/artists.
thanks sensei when u edit the key the same as 3d max u made me feel i was in home again. Gonna keep editing all to my preference to fast forward learning this software. And keep watching ur tuts.
I started to follow/watch this video, and quickly realized I should have paid more attention to the title specifically the "for 3D Artists" part at the end. I thought it would be for total beginners, but you are going at it from the perspective of transitioning from other 3D software to Blender, which is great, just not for me, as I'm struggling with the basics!!

I'm not sure if anyones already said this but the issue that arises at around 1:46:43 where the line you turned into a curve has uneven geometry and the only way to fix it is to use 2D but then, as you said, you cant change the z axis, a small fix I've found is 1) sometimes applying the scale fixes it but it didnt for me using the same shaped line you had, so, 2) turning it back into a mesh (without the depth applied, so its still just a single line) then bevelling the sharp corners into three verts so it still keeps around about the same corner shape and then converting it back into a curve and adding depth. When I did this, the geometry of the curve was as even as using 2D, but with the benefit of being able to move along the z axis also. Sorry if my terminology is off, or if my comment is already redunant because theres a better fix or it's already been commented and I missed it.
I’d love if you’d start making more blender tutorials! I think a lot of indie devs would benefit from this because of the slight price gap between blender and 3ds max.
