    Well Mark I have to say you've convinced me to buy a set for myself just based upon that intro! But seriously, a really great and comprehensive review. I've been looking at the Thrustmaster TPR pedals but to be honest, the price is a little salty for me, not to mention I love the different pedal options available on the Turtle Beach and since these are also hall effect sensors, should do the job nicely. Thanks again!

    I’ve watched a number of your videos recently and I’m thankful for your wonderfully thorough videos. This helped me with my decision to purchase the Turtle Beach VelocityOne set of Rudder Pedals and Control Center. All of this experience is new for me and I’m hoping my wife and I will enjoy using this together as we learn about MS Flight Simulator.
    I would love to see a video for Xbox users explaining how many flight related accessories could be connected to the Series X. I’ve seen other accessories that I’d like to incorporate but I don’t know what is Xbox compatible and if there’s a limit to how many peripherals Series X will support.

    Watched your review and ordered a set of these pedals. I am new to sim flying and had just purchased all my gear, was not happy with my Logitech pedals, could not get comfortable with them, heel on floor control was very difficult. My pedals arrived today and what a difference, make the Logi set look and feel like toys, these pedals are worth every penny. With the GAA pedals installed and the front of the pedal lifted up they control perfectly with heels on floor, braking is so easy and comfortable, no stretching my legs way out to try and push the pedals down. Glad I saw your review while my return window was still open for the other pedals, back they go!

  • @tedwaetford
    @tedwaetford ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Very easy to increase brake resistance in GA mode by lifting the spring behind the pedal with a small screwdriver and screwing an M6*20 bolt into the slot to hold the spring up. Makes it about the same as in Airline mode.

    Well - I'm going to have to take back what I said earlier about TB. My rudders were delivered just 2 days after I ordered them. I am on Xbox Series X and the set up was a 'piece of cake' using your video as a guide. To my immense relief the 12 V1F profiles I have set up were not overwritten, either by SU11 or during the TB Rudders installation. (I imagine that your problems Mark were something to do with your involvement with SU11 beta, as you suspected). All I had to do was set up the two toe brakes (left & right) on each existing profile as the rudder axis was already set up by default (as you mentioned).
    I couldn't be more pleased with my rudders. There is a lot more fine control compared to using the triggers and bumpers on the yoke, but I do need more practice to get the hang of turning and braking at the same time! I need to find a good use for the triggers and bumpers now.

    I had the whole thing setup and working fine. Closed MSFS, shutdown my Xbox, and then when I fired it back up the next day, the pedal Brakes were no longer responsive (even though they were still properly mapped under Control Options). After doing some digging, I found a temporary fix that another user posted. This seems to do the trick for anyone else having this problem.
    1. After starting the xbox normally and before clicking on the MSFS icon, go into the menu on your Velocity One yoke unit and deactivate the rudder under “accessories” (lights go off and on)
    2. Then start MSFS normally
    3. During the last booting sequence of the game, when you actual see the last game content liverages etc. and the blue loading bar is around 50% done, activate the rudder pedals again (accessories menu on the yoke again). Once you open up the game, brakes should be working just fine.

    Excellent video Mark - the best I've seen on the V1F Rudder Pedals. So much useful information there and very clear presentation.
    So after SU11 I'm going to have to input my 12 V1F profiles all over again! Then more changes to each profile if I buy the pedals later? You are quite right to criticise TB over this, it is not acceptable. They seem to make great products but then let themselves down with the software.

    GREAT job, Mark! I've REALLY appreciated your clear, concise and often humorous insights across many different videos (MSFS, Velocity One, etc.) whilst preparing to get set up with a Velocity One system (rudder pedals almost here) on my Xbox series X.
    That said...and please forgive my "noobishness"...at 16:33, you advise, "Update the unit on a PC if possible". I'm not quite sure what that means. Is that going through the Xbox app or the Xbox Console Companion on my PC? This is all a bit new to me, so please pardon the confusion...
    If I follow you correctly, you're saying to NOT do the updates via the console itself, even if I've already downloaded the Control Center to my console. So I'm a bit mystified on how to get it from my PC to my console.
    Cheers from Bend, Oregon USA

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Neil, the update is to the firmware that is held and stored in the VelocityOne Flight peripheral. The firmware is for both PC and Xbox. If you update via PC you don’t need to update via Xbox as the ‘’in-built’’ software is now already up to date. Hope that makes sense 😀

    • @neilmackey9626
      @neilmackey9626 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahhhhh...I think I get it! So even though I'm not using any of the peripherals on my PC, if I download them to my PC, they'll automatically get picked up by my console? Is that because both are on the same network?
      I have Control Center downloaded and installed on both so hopefully that is how things get integrated...

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@neilmackey9626 firmware is an ‘’operating program’’ held on a peripheral (it has a writable eprom to hold data) so it functions regardless what it is plugged into. Update via pc and it is stored on the device. Plug into Xbox and Xbox recognises it as updated.

    • @neilmackey9626
      @neilmackey9626 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SimHangerFS
      Ah, I think I've got it now! 😉I wasn't aware the peripherals had any sort of eprom in which to store data.
      So, if I follow you correctly, for the major "new, right of the box" update, the process should be thus?
      1. Download the TB Control Center to PC (and console, for later use). Plug yoke and throttle quadrant together and plug into PC;
      2. Perform the initial download. When done, attach the rudder unit to the first two with the supplied patch cable;
      3. Do the rudder update; when done, unplug peripherals from the PC and plug back into the console.
      Once attached to the console, I'm assuming it will notify you if there are any missing updates (or prompt for future ones)? And, for any subsequent updates TB does down the road, same process or do you think they'll download through the console OK? It sounds like the initial update and the rudder update were the big issues, thus your recommendation to do them through a PC...
      Cheers!

  • @neilmackey9626
    @neilmackey9626 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good day, Mark...
    Have you been having any issues with the rudder integration with the Yoke/TQ on Xbox?
    I recently started having control issues with the rudder inputs. Toe brakes were set/saved for L-Axis 13 and 14 and L-Axis 2 for the rudder axis. Things worked OK for a time but now, I'm finding that when I've logged out of MSFS (the "long" way, highlighting the MSFS program, hitting the "hamburger" button and then chosing "quit", as opposed to simply powering the Xbox down with MSFS running) and turning the console off, on the next bootup, those inputs have been forgotten.
    I see there are a number of other users having the same issue. I've been in contact with TB and have been working with them, sending them a number of detailed "quasi" crash reports. Part of their (possible) solution was uninstalling MSFS and then reinstalling it. I tried that, lost all of my sensitivity settings (but no my custom profiles, lucklily) and the issue still remains. The issue, IMHO (NOT a software engineer by any means!) is that even if you've updated the rudders from V1.0.0 to V1.0.1 and saved that update, after logging off and then back on, things revert back to V1.0.0.
    TB IS aware of the issue as they put this out; I've tried that several times and problem still exists. And, their solution is a PITB, involving switching cables, doing uploads/downloads, etc.
    support.turtlebeach.com/s/article/VelocityOne-Rudder-Issues-With-Rudders?language=en_US
    I've posted to some of the various Discords, etc. I did find a bit of a easier workaround from another user on the MS Flight Simulator forum that seems to consistently work and can forward that to you if you'd like. In the meantime, I've temporarily ditched the rudders and put the rudder/brakes inputs back on the yoke...nice, expensive footrest at the moment...😞

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure. But I have had a few config ‘’losses’’ over time. I suspect it is a MSFS issue, especially after an update of TB firmware, MSFS seems to think it is new hardware! Please send the link I would be interested in other opinions etc.

    Have not been able to get the velocity, one rudder pedals to work with X plane 11. I get an error message that the road pedals have been detected, but are not assigned to any access or button. I can’t figure out how to do this. They calibrate OK, but after calibration fail to actually control the aircraft rudder.
    This is a huge disappointment, because otherwise, the rudder pedals have all the benefits described in your video, which is excellent by the way. As far as X-Plane is concerned, for me they are at this point 5 hours of frustration away from plug-and-play.

    i can not judge this stuff, because i didn't use pedals before, and 30 years used twist before this pedals. second day of lelearning and i feel much less stress than yesterday:) looks like couple a weeks adaptation, but i will miss the twist all my life i guess. it will not give you same precision and if you don't need that benefit you don't need pedals. but twist if it works good enough, like mine in x65f, much much much more intuitive and convenient, than any pedals. but any way this thing is good:)
