  • Horseshoe Canyon contains some of the most significant rock markings in North America. The Great Gallery, the best known pictograph panel in Horseshoe Canyon, includes well-preserved, life-sized figures with intricate designs. Other impressive sights include spring wildflowers, sheer sandstone walls, and mature cottonwood groves along the intermittent stream in the canyon bottom. Horseshoe Canyon was added to Canyonlands National Park in 1971.
The archeology of Horseshoe Canyon spans thousands of years of human history. Artifacts recovered from sites in this area date back as early as 9000-7000 BCE (Before Common Era), when Paleoindians hunted large mammals like mastodons and mammoths across the southwest. www.nps.gov/pl...

Locations of these areas are best not published. Too many people have little or no respect for these places. By making the locations known, the next time you visit, you just might find them pot marked with bullet holes or otherwise vandalised. This is sad and unfortunate, but this is how the times are we live in now.

Brings back memories. We were there December of 2005. Camped out in the parking area for 3 nights and explored during the dat. It was cold at night. We did not see any other people while there. We got some great photos. I was awesome to be among such ancient art.

Nice camera work! And what an amazing place! What fascinates me most are the presence of European-style swords in the pictographs. You can see them clearly at 10:13 (broad blade angled as if worn on a belt), and at 13:04 (long, upright, sword with hilt at top)The "little fingery things" are orbs.

At 14:47 I'm surprised by the rectangle glyph with the horizontal and vertical lines within, also the "soda and fries" reference to the other horizontal lines and big gulp-looking container and the cut out designs within the "beings" are so interesting. The being with the 3 rectangles and one circle looks like its waving and pointing to rest of the nearby scene. The rectangle glyph is surprising, is it an attempt at representing a time-line, a separation of scene like like an independent story?? and the fireballs falling from the sky, somewhat unnerving. Thanks for sharing the journey.

The natives were not the natives everyone assumes ..these natives, just like us also had religion ,beliefs and practiced worshiped activities..the only difference was that the natives didn't worship some sort of God like we do..the natives worshiped. " LIFE/ BIRTH "...the gift of making life.. their rituals and ceremonial acts/activities where more physical and they depended on the interaction between each other.
Your female friend here was the only one correct...when she mentioned the pregnancy in a glyphs.she was right..that was what that glyph meant..I'm not saying I decoded the mystery of the glyphs or can interpret every single glyphs..it's more like understanding some of the glyphs..not all.of them but a few ...I'm nobody special or a archeologists...I'm just a regular dude, I have a major in graphic design and I've been a visual artist all my life and when I look at these glyphs I look at them different than others.idk why but maybe cause im an artist and have that third eye that makes me look at objects different than othets. I look at the negative spaces first of a glyphs ..don't just look at the dark lines, that will throw you off but the negative spaces.the majority of the glyphs represent parts of a woman's reproductive anatomy ..the vertical lines/triangular shapes represent the vagina, when a glyph has the white coloring in the middle, it represents virginal insemination, the circles with a swirling lines inside a circle represents birth. When we humans are born we come out of the womb head first exposing the top of the head whirl hair also known as cowlick or tornado hair which represent the swirly lines..when you mention the glyphs that look like meteors are actually vaginas...look at the glyphs closely...observe them..I'm not a perv, I'm not on drugs ot someone that has lost their mind...this is just what i see
