Yep he had the fking balls to spit this rap at a California radio station broadcast. I think deep down, after Pac's death, he knew his demise was near and embraced it.
I feel like folks attribute ANY verse as subliminal if the Artist doesn't straight up say the others name in the track. Big doesn't have to say "fuck you Tupac" for us to know who this verse is directed at. There are multiple references that might as well be saying Pac's name without saying it. I don't think this falls under subliminal, its for sure towing the line but to folks who were around and consuming Hip Hop in this era its pretty unanimous that this is directed at Pac. It also highlights Biggie's skill and shows that lyrically he was better than Pac. Now that comes from a 42 yr old man with a poster of Pac still in his office. What Pac did better than EVERYONE else was relate his EMOTIONS to the listener. It didn't matter if you were a white kid from Iowa, a child from Beijing, China, or a young black male from Compton, you could relate to Pac's lyrics because of how raw and vivid his portrayals were. Regardless, we for sure lost two of the best that will EVER do it in less than a year. Fucking tragic, and I wish it never happened. RIP to both of these amazing artists.

@DÆDVÀDÉR but he referenced the car accident he was in which was a few days after pac died. I think that makes it, at least in part, written after he died
@DÆDVÀDÉR if he "edited" in lyrics after pacs death he would have had to "write" those lyrics. Whether we call it writing or editing the song is written at least in part after his death

Yep he had the fking balls to spit this rap at a California radio station broadcast. I think deep down, after Pac's death, he knew his demise was near and embraced it.
Biggie died like a week before his album was released. He did rap this verse on the radio in LA, days before he got killed.
