The item style design from D1 is still the best I have ever seen, every item looks so cool in your inventory. The music is just so iconic and the tone of every level, you always feel in danger.
I love Llama, but I am laughing so hard right now 😂😂😂 *engages fight with unique Carver mob, runs out of mana, tries to melee, runs out of health pots, runs towards more enemies to escape, opens sarcophagus which contains skeleton, doesn’t use Charged Bolt charges, sees unique long staff and runs into deadend, and when he clicks on the staff… “Where would I put this?” 😂😂😂
This reminds me of a more than a few really late nights back in high school. There was something about this game that hit so right for me back when it came out. Can't explain it to this day. Environment? Music? Ambiance? Tension? Fun game.
Almost didn't recognize you Mr Llama. Haircut looks good man. Love seeing the old school gaming too. D1 is a classic and I killed so many hours into it during my childhood. D3 and D4 really needs to take notes from D1 and D2 in my opinion. XD
The best strategy was to look in the room, get the attention of enemies, than immediately go back and strike them behind the corner one by one. Advance towards the rear - that's the correct term.
Beating hell in hardcore w/o maphack and no trade. The true psycho's did it with no town, so no tomes. That was the OG-style. Trade off all the duplicates This one guy that beat hell mode with the necromancer. He did a run where the only monsters killed were the bosses. He had to save his respecs tomes for certain bosses. Waiting for his updates on the forum were fun. I made a Zealot paladin that could kill hell cows quick, using the starting green paladin set. That set was OP.
you are suppose to abuse the staff's charges in early game, because you can recharge the staff at will as a sorcerer, but at the cost of reducing the max charges
Bro Llama, when fire walling butcher you need to walk along a wall after casting and closing the door. Standing near am outside corner will have him standing near the inside of the same corner- in the fire.
Since the Warlord of blood was immuned to both fire and lightning damage you had only two options: 1. Try to kill him with the blood star skill which does magic damage or option 2. Cast the stone curse on him which will completely immobilise him and you will be able to hit him as much as you need.
You missed the crucified skeletons in Leoric's tomb and The Halls of the Blind quest on floor 8. It took you long enough to realize you didn't have to use a staff just because you were a sorcerer. I was getting frustrated watching you sell good stuff just because they weren't staves.
Mr Llama, thats not enough of you! What about the crypt levels? I always wanted you to go there. You have to fight Na - Krul, thats a real challenge there.
Played a lot of Tchernobog mod recently, it's a huge mod that makes game more like diablo 2 in some ways. But damn, this mod is really hard, way too much RNG with monsters sometimes, i personally don't like ultra hard mods like this, but it's addicting. And farming actually feels similiar to d2. Especially because mod ported a lot of uniques or set items from it.
Such a shame how whichever hero you choose to be, ultimately their fate is a sad demise after being tainted by the demonic powers. Aiden, Moreina, Jazreth. Venturing to Tristram was their undoing overall.
@@HTRism ok. i moved vid a little bit, so maybe it's not vanilla, but max pure Devolution X. so mostly vanilla but for newer systems. and it's an engine that some people create mods for D1. so to clarify. Llama plays only an engine, not a mod itself. google Devolution X for features of this engine.
@@mine5066 Warrior is the best class lol. Biggest challenge, highest skill celing, most rewarding. Sorceror is boring with all those immunitites. Btw, you can abuse fleeing enemy AI or use stone curse/teleport. Personally, I play without magic, just healing and town portal. Archmages can be stunlocked with faster/fastest weapons. If you want better warrior gameplay try WKDmod (upgraded verison of Devilution X). It adds SPLASH (2 extra tiles), has new unique items with spell effects and, life stealing and mana stealing. Also, oil drops that can permanently improve %to hit / base dmg of weapons. Higher difficulties drop more items generally. You get 3x more items on Hell. You can now find all the unfindable uniques from D1 and affixes like Godly and Whale. Crippling shrines are fixed and only remove 2 MAG, no mana loss. Black Deads don't permanently steal HP but only 1 VIT (but not HP for that VIT), which you can then increase back with VIT elixirs while keeping the HP, so you can actually increase HP with this. Great mod.
I like how D1 is a totally different playstyle to D2 where you can just run through mobs at a certain point while in D1 you need to be careful and methodical.
the only way for sorceror to beat warlord of blood is to use stone curse, and use golem while you hit with your staff. he's immune to any and all magic damage
Single player can be brutal, but I think the best way to play. You’re at mercy of the drops. All determined when you make the game. Can’t shop vendors. No mana shield on sorc is painful. Nice work.
@@stiv66630 I just mean you can’t continuously remake the game and change vendor inventory like you can in multiplayer. Makes it significantly harder. Also not repeating levels.
D1 without buying items. No books, staffs. No Wirt. No Griswold. Only repair and sell. You can only buy pots, tps and elixirs. Everything comes from the loot. With DevX, you can now put all the items in stash. That's how I roll. Best experience. I also use WKDmod, great addition.
Try "the hell 3" mod for D1, it has 29 classes & subclasses, over 500 named monsters, 2 character traits to select for synergies during creation, makes game harder, etc.
I like the original game but you have a chance of being bricked.. I tried the hell mod (didn't finish it yet) but I have over 20 hours in and enjoying it so far
why dont you play the original d1 without mods? that is the real game, not this modified crap, you say quality of life improved? just play tha damn original one, or is it too chalanging for you?? of course it is
wow the diablo 1 music sent chills. what a beautiful soundtrack. was obsessed in elementary school.
Yeah it's easily in the top 10 of best video game soundtracks ever.
I love playing D1. It's still fun to sit and play through it a few times a year.
Totally agree
On hellfire or regular? I’ve never played considering doing a play through

The emphasis on the music in this game is on the same level as then new doom games. Fantastic!

DevilutionX, you can barely see it under the twitch chat when he's in the menu.

not going for "Crucified Skeletons" in Leoric's Tomb? :/
