My professor just dropped a script on me, and told me to learn the monotonous text in it by heart. Which i have epically failed at. Indeed! Though, admittedly, he is drawn as a typical kitchen sponge which is not really sponge (but instead plastic designed/shaped like the animal sponge). Sponges (the real animal) don't breathe the same way we (or Spongebob) does but instead does it at the cellular level via diffusion. Essentially, each cell is responsible for getting the oxygen it needs, though it does it passively because the water has more oxygen in it than the cell, so the oxygen will move from a higher to lower concentration.

Yes and no -- technically, your hair has cells but they are dead cells. The dead cells get completely filled with keratin -- so functionally your hair is just a bundle of protein!
