DI literally is a good mechanic for Sim because zoners in general are better at forcing opponents at using DI or commital pokes in very risky scenarios. It's Drive Parry that actually ruins his fundamental gameplan.
@@A2ZOMG Its both. Sim isnt really known for having special cancellable normals so you can DI through a lot of his moves if you know the MU. I do agree with you that the drive system in general hurts him more than helps him
@@benross9174 Sim 2MP is one of his best pokes and that's cancelable. A lot of how inexperienced players throw in this matchup is literally trying to raw DI his pokes when this usually puts them in range to get blown up by this cancel. I will point out technically you are supposed to DI **after** blocking the 2mp to beat unsafe specials, but the point stands that zoners generally have better control over baiting people into using DI in bad situations, so the mechanic actually benefits them more defensively than other characters benefit from its cheese potential. Sim crucially has no chip damage in sf6 if you use parry correctly which granted Leshar wasn't doing (he also made a lot of routing mistakes DRCing punish counter pokes that could have been converted with LateKR and he also never used H.Flicker+KR to control Sim Float.) Ppl also need to just hard turtle more on a big life lead vs Sim because he has the hardest time forcing strike/throw mix out of the whole cast and parry lets you keep gaining resources if he tries to poke.

In a game with DR and DI I think Sim is always gonna be lowtier really. Well played by both players though
