Judy, I'm going to start off by requesting that you react to Robin's "I Can't See Nobody" from this very same concert. What a wonderful performance he gave! One of my top Robin leads ranking right up there with "I Started a Joke". First, you asked about a female Gibb that sang with the boys. Yes, Lesley is the eldest of the Gibb siblings and is still living in Australia with quite a few children and grandchildren. She temporarily sang with Barry and Maurice when Robin left the group in March of 1969. Just wasn't the same (as you could well imagine) without that wonderful and unique voice of our precious angel and they finally made up with each other the next year and the rest they say is history! And, as far as the songs that Robin sang when they first came on the scene in 1967, well, most of their earlier hits were ballads sung by Robin alone or leads shared with big brother Barry. The melancholy you definitely pick up in these early songs was for good reason because Robin and his future wife Molly were on the train involved in the November 1967 Hither Green train disaster and almost lost their lives. Many people died or were seriously injured that night and Robin helped to rescue as many as he could even though he was only a teenager at the time. Barry and Maurice were expecting Robin to show up for a press conference because "Massachusetts" (another great Robin lead to react to using their 1989 Melbourne concert) had hit no.1 but he obviously was a no show and Maurice (his fraternal twin) all of a sudden just told Barry that something was really wrong with Robin. They finally got a call from the hospital that Robin and Molly were there with minor injuries and, the very next day, Robin wrote the song "Really and Sincerely" about this awful experience that they both went through. The song is full of melancholy but it's quite beautiful. Please react to it in the future. I believe that it was only performed live at the 1971 Melbourne concert with a full orchestra. I hope this gives you a little more insight into this wonderful man that is sometimes overshadowed by his older brother, especially during the disco era from the mid to late 70's. During this era Robin had no leads to speak of but the 80's and 90's into the turn of the century once again produced some beautiful Robin leads like "Bodyguard" from their 1989 "One" album. This is also a must for you to react to. There is an official video where Robin is smoking hot!! 🔥
OH WOW!!!!! I do love that Twin Bond... what a neat blessing.... I'm sure really hard at times too. Wow, Scary! Thank you for sharing that... really interesting. Passed on the request to the DJ! :)
Nice reaction!❤ This song and performance is so beautiful that it often makes me tear up. The innocence of the lyrics mixed with Robin's beautiful voice. Just magic.❤
@@JudyAdele I imagine a young man of 14 to 16 who is idolizing an unattainable girl or woman. Then he has to come to terms and face reality that she will never be his lover. That is when he wakes up out of his dreams and grows up.❤😊
Robin's voice really suits melancholic songs so a lot of his solos are like that. He did sing happier, up tempo songs like Road to Alaska, End of the Universe, Juliet and Tokyo Nights.
My favorite performance of one of my top favorite Bee Gee songs. I love love love Robin's vocals on this song. They all did everything over the years. The big orchestra ballads was more characteristic of their earlier music, but then they did "For Whom the Bell Tolls' post fever and it is one of the all time best power ballads. Barry did is fair share of ballads and really soulful songs pre-fever. "Don't Wanna LIve Inside Myself" ior "Bury Me Down by the River" are good examples. Can never go wrong with "Nights on Broadway" or "Wind of Change" especially from the live versions from the Spirits tour.
@@JudyAdele Over the past year I have been absolutely emersed in their music and I am still finding new songs. I have listened to every studio album repeatedly thinking that would get me there, only to find a new song on the same album released in another country, or some "unreleased" song that shows up on a compilation, or a "B" side that was never on an album, or some bootleg demo. It just never ends!!
@@JudyAdele - The uniqueness in Robin's voice was mostly due to his vibrato, the quavering quality. It is something you either have or do not have. You can't fake it. It is a natural variation in pitch and his voice can go from a to A# to A to A# to A to A# for example in a millisecond and it related to the central nervous system control of the vocal chords. A comparison would be like AC current vs DC current. A lot of people think Barry had vibrato but he did not. He used tremolo to great effect which is a change in volume on a single note and can be learned. Two totally different things. One pitch, one volume. All three could sing falsetto and had amazing vocal ranges. Although Barry and Robin had two very different voices, when they sang together they blended like butter. Genetics. Robin's song specialty was usually ballads but he did up tempo songs as well. The first time I heard the Bee Gees in 1967 it was a song sung by Robin and I went out and bought their LP. I was hooked. A great up tempo song written and sung by him is "Juliet". The live version in Berlin in 1991 is my favorite version. "Black Diamond" also features his enigmatic voice. Ciao.
@@susieq9801Though i was always more keen on Barry on leads,Robin's emotion and penetrative vocal colors can also stand alone perfectly for me.Also their unison made an exceptional chemistry.
Thank you so much for reacting to my request. Loved your reaction! You are spot on about the type of songs Robin sang lead on, a lot of pathos and longing, especially in their early years. If you are interested in some of Maurice’s contributions I would recommend checking out Trafalgar, On Time, Wildflower, and Walking on Air.
Robin's gorgeous vocals. Maurice sings lead on Man in the middle, or the Bridge which Maurice sings woth Sammy his daughter and Adam his son. . They had a sister Lesley who filled in briefly when Robin left the band but she didn't want to be in the limelight. She is a year older than Barry and is still living here in Australia.
Very nice video reaction, I love Rob’s voice on “it doesn’t matter much to me” would love to see your reaction to that soon if possible please thank you 😊
Hi Judy, I think I listed, in a previous reaction, some of songs Robin was the lead on. Again my absolute favorite is "I Started A Joke". I hope that one pops up soon. I just love his voice. Thanks for the great reactions! EDIT: I just finished watching and heard you say you listened to that one, so NEVERMIND 😂. Next I would suggest "Massachusetts"
Listen to later leads by Robin. Tokyo Nights, When He's Gone, Bodyguard, Don't Fall In Love With Me. Ellan Vannin (the unofficial anthem of the Isle of Man, their birthplace). Also listen to his solo work. Juliet, Another Lonely Night in New York, Toys, Like A Fool.
Это сложная в исполнении песня. Робин прекрасно спел, его голос ни разу не дрогнул . Голос ну просто потрясающий. Есть в нем что-то завораживающее, обволакивающее, хочется без конца слушать.
Hey Kevin... I'll check in with the DJ. :) We have a HUGE bundle or requests... which is SO freaking fun... and challenging to prioritize, order, keep up! LOL. So, know it is nothing personal at all!
Good choice Amy. This is such a beautiful song and we all know how beautiful Robin's voice is. ♥️
:)
Thank you. It’s a favorite of mine. ❤️

@Barry Gibb - You are NOT Barry Gibb and you are annoying. You can barely speak English. Please stop.
