@Worm That’s an interesting question. Can I ask why you need to know? I. ask because the tempo is simply what it is on the recording. A Google search says about 130bpm, and that seems to fit with the recording.
ukeplayalongs thanks, just wondering because I have a horrible time keeping up with tempos and always need a metronome when I’m not using the recording
There are a number of music educators who make these, and we index them in different places. All of these songs have been made into play alongs, if not on this channel. Check out ukeability.org or ukeplayalongs.com (both are free) to access the lists!
I remember trying to learn this when I first started playing ukulele it was extremely hard but now I got it first try I didn’t even need to hear the song before I started
just E instead of E7 is a little harder, but it sounds better. just a suggestion for those who think it sounds a little wonky (like me) ;). but otherwise great job
The unhappy answer is that it just takes time and practice. There's no easy solution. Some work arounds are to simplify strumming and just focus on playing the chord needed and singing; or to switch between strumming and then singing. You can also slow things down with the gear icon. Slow means smooth, smooth means fast.
Sometimes listening to the play along helps and dont pay attention to your fingers while doing this just try to keep the strumming, or one thing i did to get used to singing as well is match a chord change with a certain word, Hope it helps!
Hey! I have a suggestion although, it's probably not the more practical suggestion, but why not. I play uke really well, but I'm not very good at singing, so I have a bandmate do the singing, and sometimes I'll do backup singing humming or little solos. So get a friend to play with you! :)
when i was learning, i would do single strums for the whole song and focus on the word the chord changed on. for instance, the first line of riptide by vance joy is “ i was scared of dentists and the dark.” its Am on “I” G on “dentists” and C on “dark” hope this helps!
I was watching her play it live and in the mahogany session, and both times she used a very weird chord instead of E7, she put her index finger covering all of the 4th fret and her pinky on first string 6th fret, not sure what thats called since ive never seen it used before, but either that, E7 or E work
@@ukeplayalongs Awww thanks a lot...do you have any video how to get used to using fingers while playing chords? For example: it's hard for me to go to G from F

I’ve been making tutorials ever since, and people don’t even read the description. So I’m guessing most people won’t read the comments, even from individuals who leave comments about their perspective of the strumming patterns.
for ppl who cant strum and sing the same time, sing the song slower and sing the song on beat, even if it dosent sound right, pnce you can do that, singing and atrumming is very easy
This is the first song that I learnt how to play! I started playing ukulele 2 weeks ago and I can do it! The video is helpful. But I have to practise a lot cause I can't change the chords very fast and this a problem 🤪
Thanks for your question. Usually I just delete the strumming questions, but you asked so nicely, that I decided to respond. This is one of the rare videos that I actually put the strumming pattern into at the beginning (freeze at 5 seconds in). And for more than a year and a half, I have been making tutorials for these play alongs, linked in the description, where I show how to play the chords and offer strumming suggestions. This one is an old tutorial...I have changed them a lot and worked a lot on the presentation...but the information is still accurate. th-cam.com/video/v-Nj_ISkiqk/w-d-xo.html I would strongly encourage you not to get caught up in the concept of a "right" strumming pattern. Instead focus on playing a steady pattern and putting the chord changes in the right places. The strumming will come by itself in time. To read more about strumming patterns and why I don't include them in most videos (this video is an exception), read my post about strumming patterns in the community area of this channel.
I added "Yesterday" not too long ago, and some of my friends such as Ukulaliens has already done the "No Time to Die." I was literally starting to work on it, and checked TH-cam and she (Rachel--Ukulaliens) had already posted it (within 24 hours of the song being posted!). So...if you haven't seen our master list, check out www.ukeplayalongs.com. (Free lists of all the play alongs, more than 1200 of them).
Check out the strumming tutorial I made for the song. It's a pleasure to have you leave a comment on the channel, Billie! 🤔 Tutorial: th-cam.com/video/v-Nj_ISkiqk/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for leaving a strumming idea. What we need to make sure is that we don't tell people there is "one" solution, because there are always other ways to strum...and if someone can't "chuck," they can still play along until they can. What is important is to find a strumming pattern that works for you (whoever is playing the song). So many people get caught up in "the right" strumming pattern, and it's not about that at all.
I made a tutorial video (available on the sister channel to this channel) to help people with chords and strums! th-cam.com/video/v-Nj_ISkiqk/w-d-xo.html
Hey um I this song a melody or not? I’m a newbie so I really don’t understand. If not, can you explain what a melody is/an example of a song that has a melody? Thank you so much!
The melody is the main "tune" of a song. A good example of melody is what you sing with a children's song, such as "Row, Row, Row Your Boat." By the time that you reach music like Party Favor, you're not just hearing melody...you're hearing harmony (Other notes that supply support and context to the melody), and rhythm. Another way to think about it is that Billie is singing the "melody."
Go for it. I did make a tutorial video for this one (it's in the description). When I do a ukulele-based song, I try to make sure that I am doing what the artist originally did.
That isn't what I heard when working through the song (see the strumming parts of the tutorial video...th-cam.com/video/v-Nj_ISkiqk/w-d-xo.html), but if that sounds good for you, and you like it...use it! :)
