I know it’s best to get many opinions and discern the best info for yourself, but in all honesty I’ve ended up coming here for 99% of my climbing, tree work questions or concerns. Same here. I used to recreationally climb indoor rockwalls while in college (nothing serious, just got a climbing "certification" from the university rec so I could climb without a staff member's assistance). I just recently started climbing trees about a year ago because I didn't want to hire a professional to prune a few maple trees on my property. As you can imagine, it didn't take me long to realize the substantial difference between climbing trees and (indoor) rockwalls. Earlier this year, I agreed to do a full removal of my neighbor's huge white ash. Definitely ran into some sketchy/difficult scenarios during the removal, but @BinoH got me through the job. Very much appreciate all the technique/safety knowledge you are providing. Climb safe!

Great tip Bino H, on tying a overhand knot after the two clove hitches. My grandson and myself tried that just today. It’s simple and saves time. I use to tie a Yale Whiplock followed by several clove hitches.
Just made my adjustable friction saver from spare ropes. Grateful for the end tip of getting it out. I'm doing tree work on the side but saddle hunting for deer. I leave paracord in the tree for later hunts. Great video!
Saw a suggestion from one of the Teufelberger arborists demonstrating use of one of their cambium savers that use rope to connect the rings. It appears to me like he keeps all rings together prior to installing, and pass the middle of the rope as a bight over the fork. Put the large ring through the bight. So you need quite a bit of length between the rings. Kind of like an almost-cow-hitch

HTP makes a great friction saver. I like using an ANSI carabiner on the big ring side. It's much easier to attach on the throwline, able to reposition in the canopy, and works well as a basal anchor. That's the first time I've seen a barrel knot.
First time stopped by channel and love the clear concise well planned delivery. I’m bow hunter just getting into saddle hunting using rope for lineman belt and tether plus rappelling down.
I did this with the 2.5m line from my PulleySAVER when I damaged it right at the splice. I already had the dmm rings and some hitch cord. Although I tied it differently. I ran the hitch cord through the small ring, and then tied it like a prussic loop, but including both legs of line in the knot. Like I have seen some people making a 'soft eight'. I then attached it as a triple wrap prussic knot. I feel this made the knotting more 'inline' with the main rope for retrieval.
Yeah great video for beginners..only thing I'd say is that you want your tail of the double fisherman's knot needs to be atleast 5 times the diameter of the rope your working with. So my opinion is binos is just a tad too short. But hey if he's comfortable with that it's alright. Just wanted to let any beginners know that. Good job bino 👍🤙
True good call the tail on the 11mm should be at least 2.165 inches and it's a 3" little more that 5 diameter lengths and the 8mm's are at 2". Thank you!
It would be nice to have an adjustable one to go with the other 3. I have 2 Dan House along with a Herbol. That way I can climb up on the regular friction saver & tie myself in. Then install the adjustable just above. Then after I check to make sure my lanyard is attached to my tether 100% I can put the looped end of my climbing line through the friction saver & reattach it to my HitchClimber Eccentric. I'm either attached by 2 climbing lines to my main bridge or I am tied to my tether through my other bridge. Better to be triple tied in & then double tied in than the alternative. I rarely use the center tie in on my Hitchclimber Eccentric for this reason. ➕ the 2nd bridge on my saddle is an Oplux that is permanently attached to the saddle. I attach my Oplux tether to my saddle on a large webbed loop & it's very accessible. I have 2 new Oplux 8' tethers I haven't even used yet since they r tough & light like Samson Amsteel Blue is for cable rigging. Thanks for another great 👍vid Bino.

Can I use a rope with end scaffold knot and mid bowline (with 8 stopper) both with rings and adjust the mid bowline to different lengths to adjust? Thx ♡
@@kyleboman6 I know it was one of those days at the end of the day I felt like trimming so I climbed into a small Bradford Pear and was going to work on wastersprouts my first cut with a super sharp saw blade went quicker that I expected and with that follow though I nicked my line enough to not trust it. So I cut that piece off. I didn't have the hart to throw that piece out.

Once I ordered all my components, it was under $60 CAD. I was quite pleased, as it was $120 CAD to buy one made with spliced ends. I used a sliding double fisherman's bend instead of 2 double fisherman's loops. Is a figure 8 acceptable for a stopper knot in this setup?
Novice from the sport climbing world here with a question: why set the prusik knot on the smaller ring instead of the larger ring? If I'm thinking correctly, wouldn't you get a more mechanically efficient, more acute multipoint angle of load on the ring? The rings themselves look pretty bombproof and the difference would be minimal, but imo all things considered no such thing as too safe. Plus, for retrieval, you'd be plulling on the non-adjusting side of the saver and not have to navigate any slippage. Would the more open ring make for a less "binding" prusik? Like I said, kinda new to all this. (also your shotbag throw line tricks blew my mind haha)
I like small ring on the prusik side so I can remember what side to retrieve last. The Bee line normally does not run but if it did you have a stopper knot. Also the Bee line is rated at 8,000 lbs. so you don't need to worry about strength. Thank you!
Thanks for the video, im New to this and choose to buy a taufelberger multisaver with dmm rings. I already have som burn/scuff marks on the aluminum rings, and I dont consider myself that fat or fast descending. How are these marks coming with so little use, and when should i be concerned about it? Manufacturers manual shows no wear limits, but I dont wanna throw it out, its brand New! Thanks in avance

The bowline is a darn good knot. King of repelling rescue knots. A strong knot. For simple recreational use I don't see why this wouldn't work. Certainly the scaffold knot will be tight and reliable for the end. But a bowline in mid section should be darn reliable. Especially with a stopper knot. I'm hoping for reasoning besides "it's just not done this way." For a minimalist approach the bowline saves me the problem of adding a prusik line. And prusiks do slip. Bowlines don't.
What about instead of that two fisherman's separate knots on smaller ring (this is bulky) tying one fisherman's knot but with two parallel lines at once (and I am not saying about double fisherman's for joining lines)? It is much more snug then. I am only not sure if such knot is safe - I can't find anything similar in whole internet ;)
Do you mean to make a prusik loop on the small ring? If that is what you're asking that would work you just need more rope but you still need to use a double fisherman's knot sometimes called a grapevine knot.

It is much more snug then. You will not have 2 separate fisherman's knots side-by-side like in Your case but double-line-single-fisherman's-knot. Is that more clear now?

Wow I didn't know you could buy it at Home depot. You might try an arborist supply web site. Here are some names. Bishop company, Sherrill Tree, Tree Stuff, Wes Spur, Weaver, are you see if there are any near where you live.
I can use this type of friction saver on limbless leads to rappel right? I'm saddle hunting like I did arborist work but I never used a friction saver.

In one of Bino's previous videos he explained the exact formula. I forgot which video, but he was explaining how to tie the fisherman's knot in it.

I’ve been climbing for 20 plus years and never sliced my rope. Ive gaffed it before, but never cut it

That's a cambium saver you have to use it through a crotch a friction saver would allow you to choke it off to a spar when their is no union

Nice sounds like a good setup. Yes a Figure Eight is an acceptable stopper knot but like all climbing gear inspect it every time you use it.

If you see the rings start to show wear where you see the diameter decrease or if they had cracks.

What is the side of liter ring and the bigone in inchs
Can I just use a long rope with a bowline on one end making it easy to break and adjust length avoiding the need for prsck knt.
Not for a adjustable friction saver it's better to have a knot that cinches and the prussik is the adjustable part.

Wow I didn't know you could buy it at Home depot. You might try an arborist supply web site. Here are some names. Bishop company, Sherrill Tree, Tree Stuff, Wes Spur, Weaver, are you see if there are any near where you live.

Yes, but it's better to whip it or melt the ends. Tape works but not for that long.
do you ever do three wraps on your fisherman knot? is there any benefit to having more wraps on a fisherman's knot?
I have not. I don't believe there is a benefit on having a Triple fisherman's over a double.
I can use this type of friction saver on limbless leads to rappel right? I'm saddle hunting like I did arborist work but I never used a friction saver.
In chokings situation. It should work as long as you keep it weighted.

Hello, one question I have a new tape protector. Is it made of tape like the first one you showed, can't you put a prusik with a ring on it to make it adjustable?
Thant might be possible. I have never attempted to do that. It would almost be like a Tee Squeeze.
@@BinoH Exactly, I need a Tree Squeeze but it is not available in Argentina, I tried it on the friction saver and it bends a bit when the prusik squeezes it but I think it works, I would also like to make a lanyard with a steel core, you did not upload a video about that or Yes? I made one with 1/2 in tREX hollow braid cause it's easier to splice the ends and just used a eye to eye prusik and it works great
