Hola! Que tal! Voy hablar en portugues, ok? Jorge, sigo seu canal há algum tempo e só comecei a fazer mandalas em string art há 3 semanas (publico as minhas no Instagram @ltonini.atelier). Dúvida: qual a espessura das linhas que vc usa? Elas são de algodão? Tenho usado linhas mais grossas e de poliester por gostar do brilho, mas são terríveis para fixar com nó porque escorregam muito. Right at the start of the vid, Jorge wrote he used 668 nails. There are 36 lines with 15 nails each, separated by 0,7 cm each. 36 * 15 = 540 nails for the star, leaves 128 nails for the inner circle. Jorge also wrote that the mirror has a diameter of 35 cm. I estimate that the free area in the center is about 40 cm wide. Using the formula for circumference ( c = Pi * diameter) you'll get:
x = 3,14 * 40 cm ==> x = 125,6 (nails). If you use the amount of said 128 nails, you'll get the formula: 128 = 3,14 * x (with x being the unknown diameter). Divide 128 by 3,14 = 40,76 cm. Final step: Divide these 40,76 cm by 128 nails to get the distance between two nails = 0,31847 cm. I guess that 2 cm will do, since only 15 nails are used for each color.
As for the white thread in the middle, it should be placed in such a way that it just covers the border of the mirror and leaves almost all of it free. The thread should cover just the black area between the mirror and the six colored threads. Jorge said something about nail nr. 32, but this number surely comes from his sketch which, for obvious reasons (selling the artwork) is not published.
I hope this helps a bit. Still, Jorge did a great work with this piece of art, and I wish him that he sells a lot of these masterpieces. Excellent work, Jorge!
