I’m 55 years old and I’ve been watching the protests all over the country this week where these names are being called out from podiums and megaphones and not once have I heard Daniel’s name mentioned. There are lots of people showing up in cities that aren’t their own, that are seeming more and more like opportunists who only want to take advantage of peoples anger and fear when something happens and they aren’t doing the long hard committed work for enacting change, they are it organizing registration drives or working to get policy changes like so many who have stepped up and even ran for office have. When we are talking about addressing how we are treated at the point of contact and what protocols should be in place to have all of us being treated with dignity and not escalating a stop into a situation where lethal force is wrongfully used then that is obviously not just about racism alone, it’s about the blue wall and how we’ve seen the justice system closing ranks around an officer who has abused his authority or made a terrible decision out of incompetence. The two officers in Atlanta who were just fired for using excessive force were black so it’s not just about racism. There are areas where racial injustice happens from point of contact because blacks are perceived as being a higher threat, to the bench where plea deals are forced and imprisoning blacks for a slave wage labor leasing prison system that seeks to keep beds filled but when it comes to point of contact and how tactics for detainment or lethal force is used that does include all of us and saying only black names and putting emphasis only on racism is going to sabotage and pull this movement of the rails, because some of these voices we are hearing don’t have sincere change in mind, they only have their own exposure during a high profile moment when a high profile case is there to pounce on. If you don’t get that then I feel sorry you cuz you don’t understand people like me who ran on justice reforms and have a very informed understanding of what needs to be addressed from getting in the trenches to campaign for it here in Alabama. At 55 and being from this state trust me, I know all about racism and what opportunists look like who only want to see their own names being mentioned and their own voices speaking. People showing up with megaphones acting like they are leading aimless groups of protesters who have already gathered are not organizers they are predators and they will be the ones who ruin this energy for the ones who have been doing the work for years at this point.

Quincy hasn’t seen his father since he was 4 or 5 years old, he’s 26 now. Unfortunately him and his sister are probably extremely devastated that now they will never get the chance to have a relationship with Floyd. It must be also painful to hear that George Floyd spoke with his nephew, according to the attorney Crump, a almost every day & was a father figure to him. Very sad.
I am so upset that police keep killing are men, i wish i could have done something for him and as a black woman i am hurt angry 😡 i want to see that Martin Luther King's words I have a dream will have some meaning in all this there must be Justice at the end of the day because if black people don't get this Justice I know the world will see something this time round the world will see something we are not going to take this anymore

I’m 55 years old and I’ve been watching the protests all over the country this week where these names are being called out from podiums and megaphones and not once have I heard Daniel’s name mentioned. There are lots of people showing up in cities that aren’t their own, that are seeming more and more like opportunists who only want to take advantage of peoples anger and fear when something happens and they aren’t doing the long hard committed work for enacting change, they are it organizing registration drives or working to get policy changes like so many who have stepped up and even ran for office have. When we are talking about addressing how we are treated at the point of contact and what protocols should be in place to have all of us being treated with dignity and not escalating a stop into a situation where lethal force is wrongfully used then that is obviously not just about racism alone, it’s about the blue wall and how we’ve seen the justice system closing ranks around an officer who has abused his authority or made a terrible decision out of incompetence. The two officers in Atlanta who were just fired for using excessive force were black so it’s not just about racism. There are areas where racial injustice happens from point of contact because blacks are perceived as being a higher threat, to the bench where plea deals are forced and imprisoning blacks for a slave wage labor leasing prison system that seeks to keep beds filled but when it comes to point of contact and how tactics for detainment or lethal force is used that does include all of us and saying only black names and putting emphasis only on racism is going to sabotage and pull this movement of the rails, because some of these voices we are hearing don’t have sincere change in mind, they only have their own exposure during a high profile moment when a high profile case is there to pounce on. If you don’t get that then I feel sorry you cuz you don’t understand people like me who ran on justice reforms and have a very informed understanding of what needs to be addressed from getting in the trenches to campaign for it here in Alabama. At 55 and being from this state trust me, I know all about racism and what opportunists look like who only want to see their own names being mentioned and their own voices speaking. People showing up with megaphones acting like they are leading aimless groups of protesters who have already gathered are not organizers they are predators and they will be the ones who ruin this energy for the ones who have been doing the work for years at this point.

I really do like Ben Crump, the Floyd's family lawyer. He is a strong lawyer and you can see him supporting and speaking about for the family. He is a good public speaker.
This makes me kind of sad for the thousands of families who were told they couldn't have a proper funeral service for their loved ones during the pandemic...I guess the coronavirus understands the sociological impact of this funeral and will thus respectfully stay away.
