I sat next to Minnie on a flight to Chicago, back in the early 70s and she confided she was uncomfortable flying. We talked easily throughout the flight and she didn't realize the flight was over until we touched down. As we were disembarking, she thanked me for making her feel at ease and surprised me with a kiss on the cheek. Truly, I was Kissed By An Angel and her gesture stands as a memorable highlight in my 77 years on this planet. RIP Minnie, you are missed by many, including myself.

Will somebody wear me to the fair?
(To the morning, sing a lovely flower)
Will a lady pin me in her hair?
Will a child find me by a stream?
Kiss my petals and weave me through a dream
For all of these simple things and much more a flower was born
It blooms to spread love and joy faith and hope to people forlorn
Inside every man lives the seed of a flower
If he looks within he finds beauty and power
Ring all the bells sing and tell the people that be everywhere that the flower has come
Light up the sky with your prayers of gladness and rejoice for the darkness is gone
Throw off your fears let your heart beat freely at the sign that a new time is born

    (Looking for vayda tay breeze)
    May mosaydee kaylie lowya roses

    [Chorus]
For all of these simple things and much more, a flower was born
It blooms to spread love and joy, faith and hope to people forlorn
Inside every man lives the seed of a flower
If he looks within he finds beauty and power

The mastermind behind this sound and arrangement is Charles Stepney...an absolute musical genius who was classically trained. Stepney was also was the real sound behind Earth Wind and Fire...but Maurice White and the record companies stole the credit after Stepney’s death in 1976. Eventually White had to settle with the family years later.

So this song is used at the end of the film “Us” by Jordan Peele.
Maya Rudolph is Minnie Riperton’s daughter.
Maya Rudolph is the voice of the Hormone Monstress in Big Mouth.
Jordan Peele voices Duke Ellington in Big Mouth.
So Jordan Peele is friends with this artist’s daughter.
(Bonus fact Jordan Peel is married to Gina from Brooklyn 99)
