I'm a young man myself, only 28, and this is a beautiful song. No surprise, of course, as it is Minnie Riperton. Nonetheless, I thank Jordan Peele for including this powerful song. I can only imagine what it meant in the year it was released.

I was too young to know the title of the song, but remembered the melody, so as soon as it played near the end of the movie, I yelled" that's the Minnie Riperton song" I've been trying to find! lol

Discovered this song from that episode, thank god for Atlanta leading me to gems.
I was 10 years old and when I heard the announcement on the radio, I turned the radio off and went outside and sat under the tree and cried for the rest of the afternoon as I looked at her album what an incredible loss for me. She is my absolute favorite singer!

The mastermind behind this sound and arrangement is Charles Stepney...an absolute musical genius who was classically trained. Stepney was also was the real sound behind Earth Wind and Fire...but Maurice White and the record companies stole the credit after Stepney’s death in 1976. Eventually White had to settle with the family years later.
