For Minor tweaks, you can keep the old date for minor edits.
For significant updates on the article, you can use real-time and add a note about the update (e.g., "Updated April 29, 2024"). This shows freshness and transparency.

In general, changing the date of an article should be done only if you’ve made significant changes to the content. Changing the date is unnecessary if you are making minor changes or corrections.
It's also a good idea to include a note or a "updated" label at the top of the article to inform your readers that the content has been updated.

Great content, much of which I haven't thought of before. My comment is on use of tables. Tables don't render well on mobile devices. My adsense stats say only 20% or less of my impressions are viewed on desktop monitors. Probably help to reformat some useful old content to be mobile friendly, i.e. user friendly.

WIth regards to the sitemap, I understand that RankMath generates updated versions of it but does it also automatically submit the new sitemap or will I still have to do it manually in Google Search Console then?

All good except the 301 you are supposed to keep 1 URL live for is age , then make 2 - 301 and update content.

Google upgrades have a history of rolling back modifications and resuming some traffic to trustworthy websites that provide high-quality content and employ white hat SEO methods. On the following Google upgrades, or even earlier, your site may occasionally regain rankings. Therefore, when affected by Google also updates, there is cause for optimism, at least initially.
