Thanks for the review. It's refreshing to hear a good honest persons review of an assembly line trailer. You being a contractor gave you a hand in you knowing what to look for.

Thank you very much for this video, I ordered a rock-solid custom-built trailer about 2 weeks ago, I'm currently waiting for the call to pick it up.
it's nice to know exactly what to look for and what I may need to ask them to take care of before I leave.
I'll be pulling a new trailer behind my truck for over a thousand miles. so I have installed a brake controller as well as the Anderson weight distribution / sway control system, but I would have never thought to balance the tires or Grease the hubs on a new trailer. I am also converting my trailer to a camper and look forward to seeing what you've done so far.

If you don't mind me asking how much you paid for it?

Wheels and bearings are so important. I did mine after getting hounded by my friend. I thought they would be okay on a 2018 trailer. We had to replace almost half of the bearings. And I balanced all the wheels at the same time. A week later I left Northern IL for Daytona Beach. On the way back I found a nail in one tire before I was to leave the campground in Nashville. Gladly it didn't happen rolling down the road. I plan to have 2 spares before my next trip! R

Im also in the process of converting a 1990's 7x14 double axle with barn doors that i purchased last fall for 2k. It's actually more common than people think these days with not balancing trailer tires at places. especially in small towns or farming areas. I have to request it otherwise they won't do it. Manufacturers will cut corners on trailers unfortunately with hopes others don't notice. It's good practice to check everything before purchasing and driving off but sometimes we forget things lol. I also got bearing buddies, rubber dust caps and filled with marine grease which will last way longer 😉

I've found just about all manufacturers have the same issues especially with wiring. I typically rewire my trailers completely.

I just purchased what seems to be the exact trailer just a different sticker and color. So far I've notice the one I have (7x14) has the same issues. It cost me 6grand. Down in GA. It was the lowest price I found on a brand new 7x14 with same features. Others were in the mid 7 thousands. So for the price I just figure I will tackle the little issues myself. Didn't think to check the wiring, balancing, and greasing. I will do that first thing in the a.m. Thanks for the video👍

I think all the manufacturers they're in Georgia produce about the same quality product. Haven't been able to finish working on mine as I've been busy starting to build a pole barn house. Hopefully I can get back to the build soon.

@@miked.cargotrailerconversi5689 Or close to the same quality product. I say that because I was looking at a diamond cargo 7 x 14 and though I was just going to walk up and open the door. The door didn't budge with one arm.... So I checked around to make sure I didn't miss a latch.... tried again with one hand again and failed, so I quickly switched to two hands and the door budged a little.... I had to put some body weight into getting the door to come down. I looked around to make sure nobody saw the struggle lol. I'm saying that to say that diamond cargo was built with something different because that back door tried to eat my lunch.I vow to never let another trailer ramp door so that to me again. The one I purchased like yours I walked up and with ease pulled that door down. So either it's anticipation or the diamond cargo was using heavier stuff.... Good luck on that barn... I will follow up on the trailer im about 1 hour (wiring ,greasing, and all)

@@miked.cargotrailerconversi5689 Ok I just checked the trailer and exactly everything that was the issue with yours was the same issue with the one I just bought...Grease, panels not down in some places, and the wiring under the wheel well exposed etc as yours is. It was explained to me that the screws don't rust if aluminum is used, and one doesn't have to worry about dirt around screw if they wash the trailer . If it wasnt for your video I wouldn't have ever checked.

The trailer brand new was $5,291. I plan on doing a spreadsheet soon of what it cost to build out the interior.
