It would be funny if the AI got "incentive" for killing the other side but a greater "decentive" for dining, making it so that although the optimal solution would be arm stance, they would still kill each other because of the incentive
I HAVE AN IDEA! Why don't you make it so soldiers turn 50% darker after death, so you can tell apart dead ones in large battles? Also you could make an health indicator. Not health bar, but like make them slightly lean forward when they are low, or something like that.

I'd say reduce the area of damage and buff warrior shield or alternativly turn on friendly fire
