Living in san diego I got to see motorex skylines from time to time. I remember being 12 in 2005 and walking by the carmel mountain Arco and getting detailed was a bayside blue nismo r34 and standing by it was a Japanese man. I dont know if it was hiro or not but thay skyline is burned in my memory
We had a brand new Chevy Astro as a kid and the serpentine belt dropped out from under it on top of Mt. Hood when it was only a month old. I often think back on that day because it was the day I learned it can really suck to be a Dad. My Dad missed the day skiing waiting for the tow truck, and I think about my Dad missing that day of skiing while everyone else went and he paid for it.

I had an r32 GTS4 AWD rb20det 5spd manual and if you've driven an early 90s maxima it's VERY similar. Don't expect a crazy track monster, bone stock GTSTs and GTRs aren't that fast but the thing is that you can say you own a skyline. I loved that. And the RHD aspect got a LOT of attention especially at Seacoast Cars and Coffee here in New Hampshire

There was a new subdivision being developed next to mine when I was a kid, and me and friends would walk over to it and steal construction supplies to build our own forts in the woods with. Did you use to own a shop back in the day? I knew a guy named will with a bunch of SR20 toys. I had a 89 240 hatch with a black top

What isn't excusable in all of this, is why the Skyline GT-R wasn't available to the U.S. in the first place. Especially now, when you look at the current offerings from Dodge, Ford and Chevy. The Skyline was a threat to the domestics, plain and simple.
That’s false. Nissan didn’t sell the skyline here because they thought it wouldn’t sell well. Even when MotoRex was importing them they only moved 2-3 cars a month. They never really sold that well in the grand scheme of things. GTS cars too.

I really want you guys to do a show on the beginning of the "Tour de France". I know its not explicitly automotive related, but there are so many shenanigans you guys would love! There was even a Wario look-a-like, angry mobs, and Dick Dastardly levels of cheating.
It's just really not at all... Like even a little bit... Practical for a CAR channel to be doing a podcast about a bike race, no matter how large and popular said bike race is. Gotta know your audience and kinda stick with one thing ya know? That's how businesses function usually. Like say if Intel, they manufacture CPU's for personal computers (and until recently, Macs as well). If they decided to start trying to get into the designing and manufacturing of turbochargers... Not only would they have zero reputation in the car world. Their fan base, although surely includes some car-guys such as myself, wouldn't translate well into the turbocharger market... On top of that they'd be spreading the company too thin in order to start completely from scratch in a new area and probably bleed money. It just wouldn't be good! Lmao. Although this is just about the worst example one could possibly give its kind of the same thing... Even though you might enjoy a video about the Tour De France, my guess would be it wouldn't bring as many views as they'd be wanting.. It'd make a ton of people who love cars and this channel pissed because they spent so much time and effort on a video that doesn't interest their audience. A lot of people would potentially see that video because biking and the tour interests them, maybe those people subscribe. They may end up being pissed off that the video was a one off and the channel doesn't interest them in the slightest, being bikers. It's just no bueno all around trying to get a channel to make a completely unrelated video even if you want it... Well, I believe that Motorex really tried to be a good importer company when it opened, but Hiro is the one to blame for screwing up the whole process. He was just a playboy seeking for easy cash without any previous business experience. What isn't excusable in all of this, is why the Skyline GT-R wasn't available to the U.S. in the first place. Especially now, when you look at the current offerings from Dodge, Ford and Chevy. The Skyline was a threat to the domestics, plain and simple.

That’s false. Nissan didn’t sell the skyline here because they thought it wouldn’t sell well. Even when MotoRex was importing them they only moved 2-3 cars a month. They never really sold that well in the grand scheme of things. GTS cars too.

Motorex only sold that many because A. They were proper expensive and B. They had to test each one and it was very time consuming.

I really want you guys to do a show on the beginning of the "Tour de France". I know its not explicitly automotive related, but there are so many shenanigans you guys would love! There was even a Wario look-a-like, angry mobs, and Dick Dastardly levels of cheating.
It's just really not at all... Like even a little bit... Practical for a CAR channel to be doing a podcast about a bike race, no matter how large and popular said bike race is.
Gotta know your audience and kinda stick with one thing ya know? That's how businesses function usually. Like say if Intel, they manufacture CPU's for personal computers (and until recently, Macs as well). If they decided to start trying to get into the designing and manufacturing of turbochargers... Not only would they have zero reputation in the car world. Their fan base, although surely includes some car-guys such as myself, wouldn't translate well into the turbocharger market... On top of that they'd be spreading the company too thin in order to start completely from scratch in a new area and probably bleed money. It just wouldn't be good! Lmao.
Although this is just about the worst example one could possibly give its kind of the same thing... Even though you might enjoy a video about the Tour De France, my guess would be it wouldn't bring as many views as they'd be wanting.. It'd make a ton of people who love cars and this channel pissed because they spent so much time and effort on a video that doesn't interest their audience. A lot of people would potentially see that video because biking and the tour interests them, maybe those people subscribe. They may end up being pissed off that the video was a one off and the channel doesn't interest them in the slightest, being bikers.
It's just no bueno all around trying to get a channel to make a completely unrelated video even if you want it... It'd be like me asking Megan Fox if she'd do a porn where she's DP'ed by well endowed black men because that's what I'm into (not really, just an example lol) and I think she's good looking so I want to see her in a porno. It's totally like that. Almost the exact same honestly. Yep.. Totally.
So making real-world comparisons isn't my strong suit.. GIMME A BREAK!

Well, I believe that Motorex really tried to be a good importer company when it opened, but Hiro is the one to blame for screwing up the whole process. He was just a playboy seeking for easy cash without any previous business experience. Probably the white suit investor was an Yakuza who forced him to commit seppuku, as he couldn't pay back the dude the money he owned.
The Yakuza part was in accurate. MotoRex wasn’t tied to the Japanese mafia. Also Hiro had a lot of experience in the import export business before MotoRex.
