    Hell yeah man! So glad to see you having success with this combine and with your corn. You are a damn hard worker. That combine is incredibly nice. Next thing youl have to get you a semi with a hopper bottom trailer lol. Great work man. I'm thrilled to see things going well for you.

      @@Oliver66FarmBoy just a cute little single axle semi with a single hopper bottom trailer will easily haul the 600-700 bushel you do with 2 straight trucks so then you'd have less time going to the elevator and less fuel bill.

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ok. But first you have to buy the semi. 8-9 grand for a driver but no beauty Queen. Then you have to buy a hopper bottom. In the current market 8-10 grand for a nice rust free trailer. Then yearly DOT inspections, 2500-3000 dollars depending on your state. DOT number. Don’t even know how much that costs right now. Commercial truck insurance with a good liability policy, close to 2 grand a year. Commercial plates because I’m not going to waste money with farm plates because they are to limiting. You have none of those expenses with 2 straight trucks. You don’t just go out and buy a semi and start using it.

    • @oilfarmer706
      @oilfarmer706 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Oliver66FarmBoy you do make very good points. I wasn't aware michigan was so strict on farm plated vehicles. Insurance would be the real kick in the you know what. Maybe one day it will financially make sense to get one but until then your still kickin butt. Keep doing you man.

    • @jeremycherny2041
      @jeremycherny2041 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Oliver66FarmBoy wow that sucks for what a semi costs to keep on the road there. Up here it costs me 102 bucks a year for insurance because I'm under a thousand km a year and not commerial. Also 95 bucks a year for farm registration on the truck. I bought the plate for the trailer and it's good for life.

    With only running a 4 row head that motor should have enough for that no problem! I run a 750 with a 354 turbo in it and I run a 6 and 8 row on it in 160 - 200 bu corn and unload on the go some times any it handles it just fine! I would think that motor should be plenty for that combine!

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not really. It’s only 115 horse. You compare that to a Deere 6620 at 130 horse, IH 1440 at 135 horse or a New Holland TR75 at 145 horse it’s pretty much at the back of the pack in it’s size class. It’s only 15 more horse than a 7300. By the time you run the head, thrasher and hydro you don’t have much reserve left. Pretty much anybody you talk to says the 8700 should have had a 354T at 145 horse like the 8900 had and the 8900 should have been turboed and inter cooled at about 165-170.

      Turbocharged 354 is an entirely different animal. Different manifolds, head and head gasket, crank, pistons, rods, I think they even changed the block to add some different oil galleries. You’re better off to change the whole engine.

    • @bryanginder5903
      @bryanginder5903 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Oliver66FarmBoy most of that stuff is different in them non turbo engine then turbo engines but I think it's still do able like a add on to a tractor without changing everything in the engine and it would be just fine, but you do have a good original engine their!

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Putting a turbo on a NA engine is a bad idea. Turbocharged engines run a lower compression ratio to compensate for the boost. You don’t lower the compress ratio you greatly increase the EGT’s and you start melting stuff down. That’s why so many 4020s and 560s failed when guys added the M&W turbo’s. Guys were cheap and just put the turbo on without adding the rest of the kit like M&W recommended. All a turbo does is kill engine longevity.

My mentor growing ups dad bought a 9700 White new in 79 and they ran it on there Farm up until 2017 and along the way they picked up two more. They ended up selling the 3-9700's tp a guy that already had 2-9700's 2-9720's and one 8590 MF. SO the guy now has 7 machines its quite a sight.

    Looks like all the work paid off fixing the old girl up, It's nice you got a good reward for saving it. that sample looks better than what I saw in a customers yard today that came out of a way newer and expensive JD ! Over filling those trucks reminded me of 15 years ago when I worked full time for the JD combine guy.
    He told me fill the old GMC tag axle tandem with a good load and take it to town. I thought the old gas engine truck was gutless on the way in, Oh yeah it was with over 700 bushel on it when the ticket was printed. I was told don't do that again, But hey I did what I was told boss L.O.L Thanks for the video

      Guy I used to work for had a truck like that. 350 with a triplex transmission. It wasn’t going anywhere fast.

    I have been looking forward to this video ever since the wrecked girl arrived at your place. I have enjoyed watching you and ur dad get her back in the field. This vidio didn't let me down. Maybe one of your top 10s. I really enjoyed it after a what 2 year wait following her rehab. Great job and thank you for keeping her going

    You got yourself a jewel there Farm Boy!! All your prep work is paying off. I think your trucks are gonna say WHEW! when they get empty. Keep on farmin!!

      They’ve hauled heavier. Both trucks had 12 inch side boards when we got them. Those were the first things to go.

    Damn that’s a nice combine. I bought the same one, a white 8700 Harvest Boss and it’s been sitting outside for six or seven years! It will need a lot of work but I hope it will make just as beautiful of a corn sample as that one next fall

      Hopefully there isn’t much rust. Check the grain pan. They are notorious for rotting out at the front under the rock trap.

    Why are you not using the combine that you use last year just your corn if I ever call I thought it was a green combine maybe I don't know I've watched so many of your videos I'm getting all your equipment confused

      So he acquired this White last fall and fixed it up this year. The White is now going to be the corn machine, it is a higher capacity machine. The 7300, green combine he was running in corn previous years, is now going to be the bean machine. 525, green machine he previously ran in beans, will eventually be the wheat machine. All 3 of the old girls still get to come out to play each year and as a bonus Ethan doesn't have to switch them over from one crop to another.

    Awesome video as always Ethan. Love it! Love it! Love it! Man that 8700 is awesome. Fantastic job getting that combine and it's eating corn like no tomorrow. It sounds great too. Like you said if it just had a little more power it would have been a beast. Thanks big time been waiting to see it in action. Sorry to hear about the 7300 but that unfortunately is farming. Keep them videos coming and stay safe my friend 😎🌞👍

    Very nice! It's interesting how memories come back... I have fond memories the smells of fresh cut hay, that warm corn smell from harvest, raw cotton, the earthy smell from freshly dug and combined peanuts, and believe it or not I like the smell of a barnyard with cattle and horses. Those things coupled with diesel exhaust and crisp clean cool air and nothing is better! Can't wait for more videos... Best wishes!

    That was awesome, now I've got my fix. That old girl sounds great!!!! And teeter gets to ride too. You did a great job on the revival. Looks good,sounds good, and seems to be doing good. Might need to get some sides for the trucks, lol. Thanks for sharing.

      We have sides for the trucks. They were the first things to go when we got them. They are to heavy to legally scale the way they sit now.

    Awesome to see all your hard work pay off. Nice job fixing her up and putting her back in the field. Would be interesting to have you compare and contrast all your combines sometime. Hope this cab is quieter for Teeter. Can certainly hear you better!

    Great job putting that old girl back on top, but speed your header up a bit. It’s taking in too much trash.

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no provision to speed the head up. White corn heads take in trash. It’s what they are known for.

    Great to see it doing the work it was built to do. It's always more fun when things go good. We got close to 3" of rain this past week. We'll be out for a while here in NC Indiana.

    Thats a mighty impressive video all round, congratulations. I am very pleased for you to see that all your attention to detail and the repairs you and your Dad carried out have worked out so well. It looks like a really clean sample of grain. I do hope that you have a decent spell of good weather although it sounds as though you expect some wet days.
