I agree, it will be a side by side thing with 1 russian and 1 NK officer. I heard about 500 oddicers from North Korea, some really low ranking, and they will put the lowest ranks in command of the 30 men units, and then they will learn from the russian commanders. I think, the North Korean troops are just there to be meat, to let the officers practice, and that's their main purpose. I think, the thing, that's important for the north coreans, is their officers. They will throw away the soldiers, and bring the 500 officers back to North Korea, so they can train other officers. Maybe they even rotate officers, and send more North Korean troops. They use the troops to train as many officers as possible on a real battlefield.
They won't return ..they will tell people in Korea what the world is like and how there is more food and buildings and cities ... Nah , they won't be allowed to return. They are just there to create global retoric as there is an election.
It will be additionally ineffective because of the competition for resources between Russian officers. A lot of these Korean officers will happen to “unfortunately enter a live fire area”.
Will it matter? Having an officer exposed to radically different ideology, policy, and operations coming back to an isolated and extreme politically indoctrinated organization is going to be near anathema in a totolitarian regime. That officer might learn, but will the upper levels of the organization learn? Unless the God Emperor takes the information, these lessons will go nowhere.
Russia is training them to fight south Korea, Russia doesn't need new troops they have 3 armies and Ukraine has been fighting only 1 they have the soldiers of Chechnya too.
The biggest question in my way of thinking is: Why can't Russian generals figure out that integrating North Korean forces requires more planning, training, and equipment than local forces can provide? This (IMHO) is a relic of how new troops were trained/inducted in Russia's standing army -- which no longer exists. As long as current units have to scramble for resources the North Korean soldiers will get next to nothing.
My guess is (a) they don't have time to think and (b) they're used to sending cannon fodder into battle as-is. Towards the end of ww2, germany was giving panzerfausts (anti-tank rockets) to civilian teenagers and old men to fight back - nobody left. Japanese soldiers and civilians were starving, but loyally fighting on.
@@bobwatson8754 My reply has gone. What I want to say is that these generals can choose between speaking up or being replaced or worse. It’s putin that has come up with this and the generals just follow order no matter what. I’m pretty sure they can figure out that there will be problems. It seems some troops worry that they will get no weapons. Wagner troops got very little and the table may have turned now, who knows?

Drones in warfare has been around for a long while but now they are small and everywhere. Not the remote controlled scout aircraft the US used in a limited role in the Pacific war during WW2.
Historical note: German Army 1918 offensive in France bogged down in part due to German soldiers, who had been so deprived of supplies due to Royal Navy blockade, stopped to loot British lines of food, waterproof boots, cigarettes, just about anything. How will NoKo men react to the relative abundance they see in Russia and the Ukraine? In 1944 the Indian troops of the British Army were stunned by the wealth of the Italians. Mind you, it was a country that had been ruled by Mussolini for 20 years, bombed by the RAF for 4 years, bombed by the USAAF for 3 years and fought over by the German Army. What struck the Indians as extraordinary was "there is a cair in every home".
When an NK sub ran aground and was discovered, special forces blew away the crew, then offed themselves. This to avoid being rescued by troops not their own. It would not be a surprise if that is the speical forces role here.

It's only 16,000 troops max. They have over 2 million active military. They've also sent shells. It's probably all on lend-lease, Russia will owe them with interest.
I did see some information about the language barrier from a South Korean, that does lend some weight to the argument there will be problems and may hamper even auto translate effectiveness. Now whether this has a large impact will have to be seen. The issue arises from the way their language uses (oh gawd, I have forgotten all my English classes, they were like 35 years ago) an unusual tense that denotes respect. So you would use one word in a sentence for a well respected person and a different word for someone you just met. The other issue is that they didnt incorporate new modern words from english ect like other languages do, because of their hostility and hermit cultures to outside cultures, so for a bad example: South Korea would call a big mac a big mac (with an SK twist) where as NK would call it a word they made up. The translator problem is also that there are likely not many North Koreans that actually speak Russian and vis versa. Again how this plays out is to be seen.
Yeah, this is a topic to watch. Hard for us westerners to size up, when we speak neither russian nor korean! Thank you for your understanding of how subtle the differences in language can be. BTW your English is excellent, better than most Americans.
I think your take on this is shrewd bud, the language barrier has definitely been over emphasised, folk adapt quickly when they are trying to stay alive
Didn’t work well for the cubans or the Napoli’s!!! The few sitting in POW camps have said those they fought with are all dead!! Why do you think they’re now pulling in NK??
As someone who worked with South Korean soldiers on a daily basis. I can tell you it’s going to be extremely difficult for them to integrate into the Russian system and thrive. Can they exist of course but fight side by side ? They are having to be educated fully on tech they have zero idea how the world works. Speaking to North Koreans their marksmanship is horrible because they don’t practice. Not really sure what they will do other than hand to had and cannon fodder.
13:46 Jake Broe says the North Korean language is spoken with different levels of respect and that is going to cause the problem between communicating not necessarily the structure of the militaries. Both what you say makes sense, so it is probably easier cause of the structure of russian fighting technique but difficult because of the language structure due to respect styles.
All soldiers being sent to serve in a foreign land should be taught a standard sign language they could use to communicate no matter what language they speak.
The Russians have way more, for one. Might also speak to how good of a negotiating position NK is relative to Russia, but more likely, it's the usual deal where authoritarian regimes don't want to provide decent gear.
@@silaslong-js8ps Yeaahh... You might want to reevaluate that stance you got there. The only modern warfare experience Russia has, is failing to occupy a country thats like 30 times smaller and right on its border. 2:40 "enough ammunition" Yep. Even if the ammo is coming from North Korea I doubt the logistics trains will be terribly concerned about dropping supplies off at North Korean units. Good video. You put some thought into it. Thumbs up.
Even with the meat grinder tactics the NK troops are probably in a better situation than if they were back in North Korea. Hell if they get more than one meal a day and get to use toilet paper they are living like kings.
The other problem is the very different language ethos from the very unpolite Russian vs North Korean in which there is no one word from another language than Russian, french or english and where the politeness and consideration for hierarchy is the main topic of their current language .... good luck !
I work in a German financial institution in the UK. We have offices all over the world, rather than everyone trying to speak German on global calls everyone speaks English as it more widely spoken. I'd imagine that even in north Korea and Russia it may be easier to find English speakers. So communication in English then translate back in either English or Russian.
Those N.Korean soldiers are going to get steam rolled. For one, they have no real combat experience. The Ukranians have all the combat experience and have been stepping on the Russian forces. The N.Korean soldiers are conscripted, so they already don't want to be there. They're in a foreign land, so they don't have home field advantage. They have no ties to the land or the people, so the motivation and morale wont be there. They're relying heavily on the Russians for leadership and supply. Their communications and supply lines back to DPRK are LONG. The North Koreans are starting with so many obvious disadvantages. They're literally just waiting to die at this point. Sad really.
In WW1, the U.S. military was smaller than the country of Portugal at 26th largest and had hardly any experience in any modern combat. Our military was so outdated that we still had horses while Europeans had tanks and experience in combat. Not to mention most American enlisted were impoverished and malnutrition young teens as young as 15 years old sneaking into the service, yet history shows it can be done. So my point is never underestimate your foe. As we couldn't even defeat ragged civilian soldiers of the Taliban or Vietnam. Spreading BS due to fear of the unknown is a sign of weakness. I'm going to say both Ukrainians and Russia are idiots and collapsing Europe even faster.

why would we? Are the NK troops dangerous? Are they well fed or armed? No. Hell, the Russians hate their presence. Let it happen...they take up Russian food and resources..
South Korea responds, because for them, it's serious. It's serious, because there also are 500 officers from North Korea, who will get trained up and gain experience now, and that's a threat to South Korea. Tend to agree. The reports say 'Special Forces' and if you live in a western country, any western country, those two words put together in a military context evokes a very specific mental image. That of highly trained and experienced small groups of soldiers tasked with being able to perform complex and difficult missions without the level of support of 'big army'. So think the SAS performing special reconnaisance or direct action, US Army Special Forces being sent to a foreign land to train and prepare local troops, Delta Force performing hostage rescue or extracting a high value individual from under the nose ofthe enemy. Whereas the reality of these NK Special Forces will be that they are soldiers who are ostensibly loyal to the Kim regime, have a decent amount of military training and useable amounts of reasonable military equipment.
It's quite crazy. The cultural differences, language barrier and everyone having to get along in a war in life threatening situations. You'd think it would get better and it likely will until people start dying and getting replaced. Then you start again from 0.

@h : Not a problem for Kim! Who needs “unlimited friendship” when you have “unlimited meat”, right??
It will be additionally ineffective because of the competition for resources between Russian officers. A lot of these Korean officers will happen to “unfortunately enter a live fire area”.
Will it matter?
Having an officer exposed to radically different ideology, policy, and operations coming back to an isolated and extreme politically indoctrinated organization is going to be near anathema in a totolitarian regime.
That officer might learn, but will the upper levels of the organization learn?
Unless the God Emperor takes the information, these lessons will go nowhere.

If they do, they will fall out from a window. This is something putin came up with and you don’t question his wisdom.

How will NoKo men react to the relative abundance they see in Russia and the Ukraine? In 1944 the Indian troops of the British Army were stunned by the wealth of the Italians. Mind you, it was a country that had been ruled by Mussolini for 20 years, bombed by the RAF for 4 years, bombed by the USAAF for 3 years and fought over by the German Army. Good morning Paul I just thought of something. When I was little, I used to watch Batman. And when he hit the bad guy, they would cover it up .
With words like Wow , so the kids couldn’t see the violence. So they made the Batman show more kid friendly. So I was thinking why couldn’t you do that with the Ukraine war covering up the explosions with boom ,bang ,pow
It worked for Batman and Robin being a kid show so why couldn’t it work for TH-cam?
Well yeah, Kim Jong Un probably felt like sending North Korean troops to the frontline was an opportunity to get rid of dead weight.
Mouths to feed…
It's only 16,000 troops max. They have over 2 million active military. They've also sent shells. It's probably all on lend-lease, Russia will owe them with interest.

It must have been misunderstanding!! They were supposed to fight with stpd and degen west and not the most advanced tech imaginable 😅
Thanks.
I think your take on this is shrewd bud, the language barrier has definitely been over emphasised, folk adapt quickly when they are trying to stay alive
And how will you do that when zero percent of your language is understood?

As someone who worked with South Korean soldiers on a daily basis. I can tell you it’s going to be extremely difficult for them to integrate into the Russian system and thrive. Can they exist of course but fight side by side ? They are having to be educated fully on tech they have zero idea how the world works. Speaking to North Koreans their marksmanship is horrible because they don’t practice. Not really sure what they will do other than hand to had and cannon fodder.

This is the reason for this deployment. Learning to intergrate and gain real combat experience.
None of that matters if they don’t return home alive with what they learned!!
I can safely assume that Russia has extended their attrition rate up to 7 to 8 days.

Even with the meat grinder tactics the NK troops are probably in a better situation than if they were back in North Korea. Hell if they get more than one meal a day and get to use toilet paper they are living like kings.
Dreadful summery 😮
Yeah. My guess is that NK soldiers' "motivation" is less of an issue. You can't have motivations or novel ideas in NK, they get viciously punished.
