This collection is so special. I was born in ‘94 and one of the most memorable parts of my childhood was playing HE games. I recently purchased them on Steam so that I could relive the nostalgia of playing them as a kid. Such wonderful memories and these will always hold such a special place in my heart
My favorites were the entire Putt-Putt series, Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds, and Pajama Sam No Need to Hide When it’s Dark Outside 😊 EDIT: how could I forget Fatty Bears birthday surprise!! Definitely in my top three
@@ParkorPlays That's sweet, I believe that Fatty Bear is an overlooked game. It definitely is a unique and special game. If you haven't played the rest of the games in each series please do so! They all are amazing in their own way. You can skip Putt Putt Pep's Birthday Surprise though, that one was objectively bad.
That is so fantastic! I'm glad that people like you remember and revisit these games. You and I are about the same age so we remember them as they were being released. I think it was definitely an exciting time.
I admire your passion of collecting these. Humongous Entertainment is a wonderful and outstanding developer corporation made my childhood bright. I keep coming back to play with these masterpieces even as a 28 years old man.
This is great! As one of the very first employees of Humongous Entertainment, this really brings back fond memories. I wore many hats early on, doing everything from animation to character design, but eventually became the Lead Background Artist for most of the Junior Adventures, including Freddi, Putt-Putt, and Sam. I also recognize a some of the box art I created in here, including Freddi 3. Nice collection - thanks for sharing!
That's wonderful! You have done amazing work, Derek. Also thanks! I have had a lot of fun playing and collecting Humongous Entertainment games since I was young.
Wow! that is a jaw dropping collection! I have all the games but only about 12 games are in the big boxes. I thought I was maybe the only person to care about these amazing old games. I'd love to get as many as you someday. It's difficult shopping on ebay for the big box releases because there are so many re releases out there and the seller isn't always clear. It would be nice if there was some kind of collaboration online that compiled all the different releases. It would help us collectors out a lot. I didn't know Freddi Fish 4 was ever released in the huge box for example, my boxed copy is shorter like Freddi Fish 5. Operation Ozone is my favorite Spy Fox also. I look forward to checking out your other videos and seeing what you make in the future. Sorry for the long comment i'm just excited to find someone else who collects this stuff.
Thank you so much! I get it i felt the same way for a long time. There are people on the jradventures forum who know a lot more about specific releases and re-releases. Some of them have break downs of each specific version release as well. However not really a good resource for finding retail variants like you are asking for. I spent a lot of time looking at pictures and comparing measurements and dimensions. If you find a seller with something yourr looking for you can totally ask them to send you thr measurements of the box to see of it is the right one. It took me a while to find Freddie Fish 4 but a seller was kind enough to share the measurments for me. A good rule of thumb is that when HE was bought by infogrames they began to release games in that slightly smaller from factor. Theres a lot that I had to try and figure out it felt like feeling in the dark for a long while. Not a lot of information is around on these games. Well not the info I wanted. Mr.EightThreeOne was a huge help to understand some of the finer details. Check him out if you haven't. I get it man, I get excited over this stuff too. It can be super interesting. I love to talk about it. This has been a passion project of mine for years.

I found a 12 inch talking putt-putt plushie in a thrift store for 50 cents. I couldn't find the exact one online, a bunch of those 6 inch ones you have. The only evidence I have of mine existing is the wayback machine of the humungous store in 2001. Mines called "Putt-Putt interactive Plush" and the 6" ones are called "Putt-Putt and Pep Plush". I think they sold the 6" one in stores as well as online and the larger one I have was only through the website. They apparently made 2 versions of the spy fox plush as well. Humongous entertainment made a tonne of toys looking at their early 2000's store. Some you could only get through pre ordering. The ones by toy point made seem to be somewhat rare, Blue-Box made a version too that has almost no evidence of even existing. But it's listed on the 2001 humungous store so it was sold at one point
I really loved the Spy Fox series when I was a kid and wished there were more of those games cause that series got the least amount of games out of the big four. I played pajama sam years later and really liked that series too.
I did, when I was younger though. I've been on the look out for it for some time. I have the other two, Let's Explore the Farm and Let's Explore the Jungle.
@@5taytos You missed one Humongous Entertainment Games. So, I'm was an big fan of Humongous Entertainment back in May-June 2010 (until the beginning of the 2010 FIFA World Cup) and I'm was sometimes an big fan of Humongous Entertainment in 2008, 2014 and 2015.

Which series is your favorite? I poured so many hours into these (except the bear game?) plus backyard baseball..spy fox probs my fav but pajama sam so special to me. Thanks man , I may track down a few items to put on display in the house !
the backyard sports games i'm missing are backyard baseball 1997, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, backyard soccer 1998, mls edition, 2004, backyard basketball 2001, 2007, backyard hockey 2005, and backyard skateboarding game of the year edition.
They are difficult to find sometimes but definitely not impossible. It depends on what you're looking for. eBay is the place where most people will be able to find most things. Some people use other sites: Craigslist Kijiji, Gametz, Offerup, Amazon, Worthpoint. There's others I'm sure. You just have to be patient when searching.
@@5taytos definitely aiming at the earlier games. Stuff like pajama Sam 1 or putt putt goes to the zoo. The later games, especially the later putt putts, are the last on my list. I got a big thinkers kindergarten big box when I randomly found it on eBay for like $12!

Very random titles but I hope to find more big boxes online and thrift shops. One question I had for you, if you don't mind me asking is how much have you spent in total for the big box games specifically?
Oof, well I started collecting before the prices went up they way they have. I never spent more than $20 or so for each of them at the time. I got a few lots for cheap, I got the majority for between $10-15.
No, that would have been super sweet though! It was one of their various merchandise products. If you every are able to look through one of their product catalogs from around 2000 you'd see it there. They did have gift box sets though that came with a Junior Adventure, Junior Arcade, and a character watch. I think that's the closest thing to a special edition they ever had.

Well, nowadays the prices have gone up quite a bit. Generally I would say around $30 is a fair price. Especially if it comes with the activity/comic book. Sealed copies will cost a bit more usually. I've seen copies of Humongous games commanding $80 -$100 recently. Seems a bit much if I'm honest. Good luck!
I would say $15-$25 is fair. That's generally how much I payed for the majority of my games. Humongous Entertainment made a lot of multi-game bundles which usually are priced a little higher. There are special variants which may come with a promotional item like a plush or a watch. Those also will cost a bit more. Their merch is highly sought after. the backyard sports games i'm missing are backyard baseball 1997, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, backyard soccer 1998, mls edition, 2004, backyard basketball 2001, 2007, backyard hockey 2005, and backyard skateboarding game of the year edition.
The backyard sports games are really fun to collect imo. Are you interested in the variants, cards, console and handheld games?
@@5taytos yes, because the backyard sports games were my childhood, and i always play as the pros as kids.
How do you guys find the big boxes I can never find them?
They are difficult to find sometimes but definitely not impossible. It depends on what you're looking for. eBay is the place where most people will be able to find most things. Some people use other sites: Craigslist Kijiji, Gametz, Offerup, Amazon, Worthpoint. There's others I'm sure. You just have to be patient when searching.
@@5taytos thank you! ebay usually has them but they go so quick!
@@drewhughes2406 It's true, they do. Gotta be persistent as well as patient. What are you trying to get?
@@5taytos definitely aiming at the earlier games. Stuff like pajama Sam 1 or putt putt goes to the zoo. The later games, especially the later putt putts, are the last on my list. I got a big thinkers kindergarten big box when I randomly found it on eBay for like $12!
the only games i'm missing are freddi fish one stop fun shop, pajama sam 2, pajama sam games to play on any day, putt putt joins the parade, putt putt one stop fun shop, moon base commander, blue's birthday adventure, blue's treasure hunt, blue art time activities, and blue's reading time activities.
Wow only 10 games, you're so close! I'm still missing a couple as well. Hopefully we can find them soon!
@@5taytos yep, and some of their games are on steam, phone and tablet these days.
@@charliesplaytimeadventures4011 I've never played any of the modern ports. Have you? Are they any good?
@@5taytos no i haven't but i wish i did.
i never played the last pajama sam and putt putt joins the parade but ive played all the spy fox and about half of the freddy fish
Is that right? For some reason a lot of people don't like Pajama Sam 4. I dug it though. Not really sure what people didn't care for about it. I loved all the Spy Fox games, those were my favorites! What do you think was their best game?
@@5taytos
its really tough to pick the best but:
1. putt putt: saves the zoo
2. pajama sam: thunder and lightning
3. spy fox: operation ozone
(i always found spy fox to be hard so i didnt like them as much as a kid but they are very good games)
4. putt putt: travels through time
5. freddi fish 4
im going to give pajama sam 4 a try though
nice collection by the way!
@@rickybungalow8839 I know it is super tough. Great choices though!
Hope you dig it. Thanks!
This collection is humongous!
Haha thanks!
Where did you find these for the most part?
eBay for the most part. But this was years ago before the prices went up to the point they are now.
impressive collection! out of curiousity, would there be any way you could do scans of the front and back of the boxes to the pajama sam, spy fox, freddi fish, and putt putt games? ik its a weird request, but i am currently in the process of creating dvd style cases for the games and it would really help me out
That's not really that weird of a request. I can see what I can do. I don't have a scanner. Are you looking for all 19 of the Junior Adventure games?
@@5taytos just the all the spy fox, freddi, putt putt, and pajama sam. do u happen the have a printer?
@@nadeedoo6945 right so, the mainline games? Or are you looking for all the games featuring those characters? Including the arcade games and printer software? No I don't have a printer. I'm going to try and see if I can do it at work.
@@5taytos yes all those. if you can't it's ok
@@nadeedoo6945 Sorry man, I tried to find a way. Short of buying a scanner there isn't much I can do.
I have the small cd case version of the games, where can you buy the big box versions?
eBay is probably the only place you can get them anymore. The boxes were the original packaging on release.
@@5taytos you got they all from ebay?
@@matthewmugo Not all of them, a few I found in thrift shops and stuf like that. But the majority yes. When I was younger, all the packaging got thrown out immediately. I wanted to get all that stuff back.
Amazing amazing collection!!
Like everyone else here, HE games were my childhood. I just started out my collection, I have all the games on steam and I have a couple big boxes; Putt Putt Joins The Parade, Let's Explore The Jungle, Pajama Sam 3 and Super Duper Arcade 1.
@@5taytos oh wow I wish I got in early. Yeah the prices have been really high for some pretty beat up boxes.
@@brothermajid yeah it's been pretty brutal the past couple years. What are you thinking of going for?
@@5taytos the main ones I want are Putt Putt Goes To The Moon, Saves the zoo, Pajama Sam 1 and 2.
@@brothermajid right on, well I hope you find them!
Where did the lunchbox come from? A special edition box set?
No, that would have been super sweet though! It was one of their various merchandise products. If you every are able to look through one of their product catalogs from around 2000 you'd see it there. They did have gift box sets though that came with a Junior Adventure, Junior Arcade, and a character watch. I think that's the closest thing to a special edition they ever had.
@@5taytos Thank you so much for the information! I just got the pajama sam watch and I'm starting a collection of my own! (I love your humongous entertainment videos by the way!) Your collection is wicked great!!!
@@MrSmith96 Hey that's fantastic! Glad you want to collect this stuff too. Thoae watches are super neat. What's your end goal for your collection?
Thanks man, really kind of you to say. I'm pretty proud of my collection. I'm glad other people find it as interesting as I do.
@@5taytos I have no goal to my collection, I just love the humor, the art, and definitely the music of the humongous entertainment titles.
So once I heard there was merchandise, I started looking. The watch's are really cool!! The next one I'm looking for is definitely the Freddie fish watch.
I also have the pajama sam lunch box too. Did you know that, dairy queen had humongous entertainment toys? I had no clue they did a collaboration.
I definitely need to start looking for those next!
And your welcome! Thank you, for showing off your collection! You definitely inspired me to start my own collection of humongous entertainment merchandise!
@@MrSmith96 Yeah there are quite a few Dairy Queen toys. I have two personally. But they had a series of Backyard Baseball toys and a series of general Humongous Entertainment characters.
Unfortunately, HE toys go for quite a bit. It can be hard to find the toys for a decent price.
There are a bunch of books though that you can get for reasonable prices. There's around 15 various books.
If you're interested in lunch boxes, there was also one themed after Putt-Putt Joins the Circus.
Good luck! I hope you find the watches! (There's a Putt-Putt watch as well)
My favorite are definitely pajama sam 1 and spy fox 1
Yo, Great choices. I'm getting the feeling that Spy fox wasn't as popular as their other series. Shame, it was super good.
Awesome collection man! I just started collecting these as well! What do you think a fair price is for pajama Sam 2 and pajama Sam 3 in the big box?
Well, nowadays the prices have gone up quite a bit. Generally I would say around $30 is a fair price. Especially if it comes with the activity/comic book. Sealed copies will cost a bit more usually. I've seen copies of Humongous games commanding $80 -$100 recently. Seems a bit much if I'm honest. Good luck!
@@5taytos thanks for the reply man! I really appreciate your thoughts! Definitely gonna subscribe to your channel as well!
@@codycarlson9441 Thanks bro!
i hope you get the blue's clues games with joe.
Oh it's not made by Humongous, I won't be adding it to my collection unfortunately.
@@5taytos oh, ok.
What prices are realistic for putt putt or freddi fish big boxes?
I would say $15-$25 is fair. That's generally how much I payed for the majority of my games. Humongous Entertainment made a lot of multi-game bundles which usually are priced a little higher. There are special variants which may come with a promotional item like a plush or a watch. Those also will cost a bit more. Their merch is highly sought after. Most of the games thouvh are not uncommon. They pop up pretty frequently. You can get good deals if you are patient. Which games are you looking for?
@@5taytos Ok thx. Im from germany and some sellers want up to 150€ for it :D
Shit be crazy in other countries. Maybe some American sellers are willing to ship to Germany? I don't know.
How is my german by the way? I don't get to use it very much.
@@5taytos Your german is quite ok :) In understood the most. Yes I often see some american offers, but I want the german box (we had special ones in a special format). I also collect other childhood cd-rom games in big boxes. But they are very hard to find.
@@SilverTiger4000 Really? I'm interested in what that looks like. How do they differ?
Hi Sebastian - I was sent this way by a fellow computer game collector. I've been collecting for many years now and I've got a piece of Pajama Sam artwork hanging on my wall (possibly an artist's proof). Humongous Entertainment is not really a focus for me, so I would certainly consider letting it go to a dedicated collector. If you may be interested, let me know what's the best way to connect! :)
Hey Kevin, thats super interesting. I'd love to talk more about it. You can DM me on Twitter if you want, @5potatoes.
Sebastian Scholz DM’ed!
Great collection!
Thanks! I'm really proud of it.
you are missing blue's 123 time activities
I was missing it at the time. I have it now!
It’s been a while but if you’re interested in trading your pajama sam t-shirt for a Putt Pitt watch plus a decent chunk of money please hit me up. I’m a very serious collector of t-shirts and pajama sam is one I’m missing!
Thank you for the offer! Unfortunately, I actually already have the Putt Putt watch.
