In my humble opinion too, McCartney was the best pop/rock vocalist, phenomenal range, breathtaking tonal quality. He could go from heart rending, beautiful softness to ripping it up like Little Richard, in fact as far as I’m aware, the best Little Richard tribute ever.😊 There will never be enough accolades to sum up the Beatles, their music, their effect on society. I agree totally. I was 9 or 10 when they were on Ed Sullivan, and I laughed at my older sister who was watching them and bouncing up and down and giggling while sitting cross-legged on the floor. She turned around and told me to shut up. Within a year or two I was obsessed, got a guitar and amp, and my life has been an obsession with music because of The Beatles especially. Tonight, for the first time, my wife of 38 years said she was looking deeper into The Beatles, because we watched "Nowhere Boy" on Prime a couple days ago, and she became interested in John Lennon's life. Before this she would always say how she hated The Beatles. Oh, I could go on and on, but man, now I can finally live with a woman who is starting to understand why I get tears in my eyes listening to The Beatles. They changed everything. It's like living in the time when Mozart or Beethoven were alive. When Lennon was murdered in 1980, I was reading a newspaper article about it to my mom, and I couldn't get through it, because I was so choked up. Anyway, this is a great treatment of the genius of Paul. I love John's writing, but Paul is certainly the superior writer and performer of the two. Recently I got lost listening to Paul's solo albums. Just amazing.
Thank you for sharing these memories. I was born in 1964 so I missed The Beatles when they exploded in America. But the first album I purchased was Let It Be in 1970. I was 6 years old and I spent my birthday money. Thanks for watching!
I'm saving this. Since I first heard "Close your eyes and I'll kiss you" on the first Ed Sullivan performance, I've been totally in love with that voice. My favorite line he's ever written is from No More Lonely Nights. "May I never miss the thrill, of being near you". I can just feel that thrill.
Thanks John , another brilliant insight into the world of the Beatles (the vocal harmonies in helter skelter was a shock to me) and particularly the amazing talent of Paul as a vocalist … On that note I was wondering if you ever thought of giving us the grand tour of that album of Macca RAM To my humble opinion it’s a magnificent piece of art which did not receive the praise it should had at the time … And talking about vocal range it’s pretty awsome ! Uncle Albert , smile away and monkberry moon delight are the proof again that Paul could do it all !! Anyway , thanks again for it all !!!!
I agree with every word! Ram is my favorite of all his albums. It’s an amazing work of art. I have already began a part 2 covering Paul’s solo years. All the songs you mentioned are featured. I have so many projects and so little time to produce. Hopefully my channel will become my full time job in 2025.
@@JonBlackstone great , that’s music to my ears !!! Good luck with your channel ! Lots of people are on the market with a different approach ( beato , sklar Ect ) but you obviously have an audience … Musician, producer , singer you can go to the specifics like Rick beato and tell stories like lee sklar so keep on keeping on John !!!
I watched the entire presentation and it was fantastic.❤ As a fan for decades, you expressed what I love about his music but never had the musical currancy to name it. So well done.
Spine tingling vocalist extraordinaire. As a kid, listened to Helter Skelter over and over and over... catching all of those vocals u isolated. Kids couldn't understand why I loved that song so much. It was scary to them. To me it soared.
I totally agree! It’s so funny you mentioned that. I had the same experience with my friends when I was a kid. I would play them Helter skelter and they look at me like I was crazy! Thanks for watching!
You nailed it! It's the same reason why I admired and loved Paul's voice from as early as I could remember. Even though the Beatles broke up when I was 12, I could never resist following all their work as solo artists, but Paul especially. I think it was the perfection of Paul's voice which was always so incredible to listen to, in any song format. Once you loved that voice, that nuance, that range, you could never get enough and I always bought every album afterwards to enjoy the new gems. Some of best work post-Beatles were the non-commercial songs which you could only hear on the albums. For example, Monkberry Moon Delight ranks right up there with Oh Darling, in my opinion but did we ever hear it on the radio? No. There are countless more examples. In John's case, the Plastic Ono album was stunning and powerful too. I still love it to this day, but yes, this discussion is about Paul's voice and there is no one who can compete with him on that level.
Love seeing another person so passionate & moved by the nuances of vocal artistry like Macca's. There's no formula to it, but it gives us a momentary window into their creativity. Some of my favorites are: his slight vibrato/resonance throughout "I Will", his final high vocal at the end of "Nowhere Man", the way he "combats" John's vocals on Norwegian Wood, the way his voice comes in like butter for the bridge of "Wait", and oh man I could go on & ON about every little nuance throughout The Long & Winding Road. we can go on for hours but at the end of the day, the best thing we can do is continue to listen, share & sing along to the music 🎶 till the GRAVE haha!
But Paul was the cool guy! He's the one who hung out with the Avant -garde artists and was a silent partner of an Art Gallery where the meeting of John and Yoko took place actually. And guess what?! He's still a cool guy!
@@pauln7058Thank you so much. One of the hardest aspects to doing this is the cruel people who write terrible things for the sake of hurting others. So I really appreciate the kind words!
I'm 22, and I just discovered The Beatles 2 years ago, but my love for them never soared. They opened my music taste to a whole new side. Even though I listen to many great bands and albums, I always come back to them. Great video, by the way. I love the RAM album more than any Beatles album, so I'm looking forward to your next video
So this is basically a video of you playing snippets of Beatles songs and smiling from ear to ear like a can in a kidney store for the first time ever and saying Awesome over and over again. Fantastic!
I really enjoy listening to isolated vocals. It's like being right there with them. Listening to a dry run, no auto tune or pitch correction and before any overdubs, just the pure natural voice and yes, it can be very telling. You can hear right away if a person has a singing voice (or not). Lessons and coaching can help develop a singer but the actual "voice" is of course something we're born with. Some voices are just easier on the ear. That's what helps separate the good singers from the great ones. A vocalist like Paul comes around once in a lifetime. His singing and songwriting (with John, George and Ringo) as you said, created a new culture, changed the direction of music forever and set the world on a new path. Through 68-69 you can hear him intentionally change his singing voice. Going more in the direction of what became his solo career with songs like (my absolute favorite) "monkberry moon delight." to the simplicity of, "Ram on". Along with so many other great songs that display his vocal range and ability. Check out his isolated vocals (if you haven't already) on monkberry'. It will blow you away. I listened through headphones for hours! So many little nuances.
Nice job. It was really great to hear his vocal parts isolated. What an incredible human being. So creative, like you say it just comes pouring out him. Some of those high parts and just little phrases he does; you don't necessarily hear all of those in the record. I have been watching a lot of interviews and performances lately because I appreciate him so much, too! I was 13 in 1970, and I received a funky little portable stereo record player, and Rubbersoul was the third album I ever bought! Just magical, it affected me for life. We watched The Beatles on Ed Sullivan on our small black and white TV 📺 for their US debut. I turned 7 on Feb. 9, 1964! Thanks for the birthday present, lads. And a lifetime enriched and blessed by your brilliance and humanity. 🙏 ❤️ Thanks for continuing the journey. 🎶 🎸 Cheers 🍻 👏 peace ✌️ ☮️ 🕊
Oh Darlin’ is just a phenomenal vocal ever put to tape, I ain’t kidding. There’s so many outstanding performances from Paul McCartney it’s unreal. My first introduction to music was Elvis, but I’ve adored The Beatles and their solo work next in line. And his bass playing? Phenomenal. He’s so melodic it’s stupid. 😊
Jon Blackstone. Loved your Paul McCartney vocals, piece you put together on you tube.Fantasticly put together. Big thank you. From a great fan of Paul McCartney.Ive always thought his work is bigger than the universe.Nothing and no one to match his genious. He was born very gifted. Not only is he a genius, he's so good looking with it.What a Man.I love him to pieces ❤️. Thanks again really enjoyed your work 👍
Jon, when my sister and her neighbour were upset/crying about the breaking up of The Beatles I asked "what is a beatle?" Ignorant child, I was! Not much later I was diggin' "Another Day" and "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey." My first Paul album was WINGS OVER AMERICA which is a great live record. Over the years, I bought the occasional Paul album or Wings album but about 20 years ago I decided to discover The Beatles more properly: I started by buying a specific CD, listen to it non-stop for a month or two, buy the next CD, listen to it it likewise, buy the next CD, and so on. I started with 1965's RUBBER SOUL then 1966's REVOLVER then 1967's SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND and so on... I was able to follow their music chronologically and to see how they changed as songwriters, how their instrumentation changed, how they experimented, and how their production changed. What a journey! You can see clearly how they shaped other musicians in terms of songwriting, vocals, production, etc. How many late 60s and 70s musicians were shaped by Paul, John, George, and Ringo? My favourite Beatles album is now the WHITE album. Similar to Elton's BLUE MOVES, both albums are all over the place genre-wise and both are pushing the limits and not staying safely within the musical box. Really enjoyed this video.
I was born in 1961, so Paul's vocals have always been with me. I'm still utterly fascinated by him, his talent and his virtuosity, so this was a great video for me. You also had a few pictures I hadn't seen which was a bonus.
Couldn’t agree more. Looking forward to the next part. The album “Ram” is an endless gold mine of examples and I can’t wait to see if you’ll mention all the ones I’m thinking about.
Another fun fact: On June 14, 1965, two days after is 23 birthday, Paul recorded the vocals for "I've just seen a face" and "I'm Down" and closed that session recording "Yesterday". That's how fantastic of a singer Paul is.
There’s no other vocalist who vary his voice like Sir Paul. Is there anyone in history that can sing “Here There and “Everywhere”, “Helter Skelter”, “And I Love Her”, “Oh Darling”.? No one.
Yes there is one, Freddie Mercury. He could also sing everything and all genres. Listen to him singing love songs, for example, You take my breath away, Save me or Teo Torriatte. Incredible. Paul McCartney and Freddie Mercury are my favorite singers of all time.
This is just spectacular and can never get enough of this. I think I’ve heard many pf these vocals probably a hundred times, but they always sound new, exciting and somehow different. True mastery and beautiful artistry. Just amazing.
Great video as always, Jon. I am planning to watch the full version tomorrow. No question that Paul is above all else as far as recording artist and vocal artist. I can never tire of listening to The Beatles and of course Wings.
Just listen to Paul sing , I've got a feeling on the rooftop concert....now that being said listen to the bass lines he's laying down, this guy grooves like no one ever and no one ever will groove like this genius...
Used to avoid listening isolated vocal tracks, but you showed me what is hidden there! Thanks a lot! I'm also a McCartney fan for more than 50 years! I'll be waiting for your analysis of his solo career.
@@JonBlackstoneSo glad to see someone is listening as carefully as I am to his awesomeness he is the King. I saw the fab four last night at the Orange County fair in California, I just closed my eyes, pretended it was Paul, sang along with everyone to every song I knew every word. People say he’s lost his voice I would give anything to see him but he hasn’t been around here in a while.
You are right. There has never been anyone like Paul. I have always been amazed at the force of his voice on Golden Slumbers. Other people have covered it but they can’t get close. The thing with the Beatles was not just that they were better than everyone else but how very much better they were.
This video made me think abt being a teenager in the 90’s and how excited I was listening to the Beatles for the first time back then and how I fell in love with them. I am still in love with them- but it’s like remembering how you felt when you were first with your spouse of 30 years-
Jon, i just found you & this video tonight. I got tears in my eyes a few times listening to the isolated tracks. I have subscribed to your channel now. Thank you!

Thanks for that video. It's a great job. I've always thought that, a part of an innate ability to sing, Paul is one of the most effortful vocalist of this period.
Yes, I'm a fan of Paul's incredible vocals, too. What a talented artist he is! I'm glad to have witnessed his career and the Beatles career since I was a small child.
Not the same year gap but the vocals in Monkberry Moon Delight are outstanding .. plus I might be the only one on the plane but I love Mary Had a Little Lamb :)
Thanks for watching! That’s one of the songs I cover in part 2. I’m working full time so my production time is very limited. I’m hoping to become big enough that I can produce content as my full time gig.
Man, you are pointing out and expressing things that I have done for years about Paul’s vocal abilities to anyone willing to listen…and there’s only been one or two that were actually willing! That was thoroughly enjoyable (I watched the full vid on Bitchute) and I’m really Monkberry Moon Delighted that you’re going to go into his solo career soon. (After his vocals…perhaps examine his prowess as a bass player)

@@JonBlackstone
WOW at age 6! Do you have older siblings who would have influenced you about the magical Beatles sound?
I'm saving this. Since I first heard "Close your eyes and I'll kiss you" on the first Ed Sullivan performance, I've been totally in love with that voice. My favorite line he's ever written is from No More Lonely Nights.
"May I never miss the thrill, of being near you".
I can just feel that thrill.
I love what you wrote. It warmed my heart. Thank you for watching!
Thanks John , another brilliant insight into the world of the Beatles (the vocal harmonies in helter skelter was a shock to me) and particularly the amazing talent of Paul as a vocalist …
On that note I was wondering if you ever thought of giving us the grand tour of that album of Macca RAM
To my humble opinion it’s a magnificent piece of art which did not receive the praise it should had at the time …
And talking about vocal range it’s pretty awsome !
Lots of people are on the market with a different approach ( beato , sklar Ect ) but you obviously have an audience …
Musician, producer , singer you can go to the specifics like Rick beato and tell stories like lee sklar so keep on keeping on John !!!
He is amazing. The best 🩷
You know who else listened to Helter Skelter tons of times? Charles Manson🤣🤣🤣🤣
The cool kids would disagree with me but Paul was always my favorite Beatle.
But Paul was the cool guy! He's the one who hung out with the Avant -garde artists and was a silent partner of an Art Gallery where the meeting of John and Yoko took place actually.
And guess what?! He's still a cool guy!
Brilliant Jon well done sir !!🙏
Thank you for the kind words. I just received a very cruel comment from someone else so I really appreciate your comment. Thanks for watching!
@Jon Ignore the cruel comments... those people don't know what they're talking about, but you sure DO !!

This is such a fun clip, which really gets us to notice the artistry! Thanks Jon!

What this is about the 15th time I've watched this and every time I watch it I love it even more you've made a masterpiece John
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your kind words. I truly appreciate it. Thank you for watching!
That was surperb! Been idolising this man all my life, and now I have heard so much I never heard before in those isolated tracks. Thank you SO much.
Thanks for continuing the journey. 🎶 🎸
Cheers 🍻 👏 peace ✌️ ☮️ 🕊
Thank you for the fantastic comments! And thanks for sharing your own story. Thanks for watching!
Yes! As a former audio engineer for studio and live I could listen to iso vocals all day! Thank you for sharing this
Oh Darlin’ is just a phenomenal vocal ever put to tape, I ain’t kidding. There’s so many outstanding performances from Paul McCartney it’s unreal.
My first introduction to music was Elvis, but I’ve adored The Beatles and their solo work next in line. And his bass playing? Phenomenal. He’s so melodic it’s stupid. 😊
As a huge Beatles fan I absolutely loved this. Bravo :)
Thank you for the great comments! I really appreciate hearing from the true blue fans!

Thanks again really enjoyed your work 👍
Wow, thank you for the great compliments! I truly appreciate it. More coming soon!
You and I see eye to eye on so much. I also compare Blue Moves to White Album. Both unusual, highly creative and original albums. Thanks Douglas!
Ram is amazing! Yes we’re thinking of the same songs! Thanks for watching!
Another fun fact: On June 14, 1965, two days after is 23 birthday, Paul recorded the vocals for "I've just seen a face" and "I'm Down" and closed that session recording "Yesterday". That's how fantastic of a singer Paul is.
I can tell you're a Beatles freak like I am! Thanks for watching!
Love that comment
Paul’s birthday is the 18th not the 12th. I know because mine is the 14th.
His birthday is on the 18th of June
Tatsächlich no "fun". Tatsächlich unbilivieble
Enjoyed this thoroughly, Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed it! I really appreciate that. Thank you for watching!
Great video! I'm huge Paul's voice fan. Thank you. Cheers from Brazil
I've been listening to these guy for 60+ yrs and still enjoy them more than ever.
This was really great and now I understand and appreciate Paul's talent and hard work much more. Thank you !! 😜
I look forward to hearing your next piece of work on Paul McCartney .🎉
Coming soon!

NOT at all above the other Beatles
Just listen to Paul sing , I've got a feeling on the rooftop concert....now that being said listen to the bass lines he's laying down, this guy grooves like no one ever and no one ever will groove like this genius...

I couldn’t agree more. I consider the Beatles in a universe all their own. There’s everyone else; and then there’s the Beatles. Thanks for watching!

Yes, I'm a fan of Paul's incredible vocals, too. What a talented artist he is! I'm glad to have witnessed his career and the Beatles career since I was a small child.
My all time favorite band. I became a musician in 1964 when I was 10 after The Ed Sullivan Show.
I think MMD I think is my favorite solo song from Paul
I find it difficult to say I have a favourite.. possibly because there are so many my mind changes every time I listen to them 😂😅
This is brilliant Jon.Paul is another one that's underestimated. Love your enthusiasm as usual❤
Thank you, thank you thank you! I so appreciate your kind of words.
Great video! You could make one like this on each of the Beatles. John was the genius behind the group, especially in the early years. It's amazing that he would go home with the movie title to "A Hard Days Night" and come back the next day with the song written.
