RIP Margaret. What an incredible talent
You are making me nostalgic. This San Francisco is long gone.
That whole world is long gone unfortunately. I could make a list of places that used to be so much more interesting and fun that are just totally fucked up now. But i guess if you own real estate youre pretty happy with the results haha.
You got that right
Then bring it back!
Make something happen
@@astephena just don’t drive out there…You’ll get bipped
@@astephena The world is a very different place. Cant go back.
This is incredible. Twist was a mythical creature to us in the late 80s early 90s.
Yeah he was.
@@MrDBcooper77 Used to love seeing his throw ups on the overpass right there by Emeryville... Stuff appearing there lately is garbage
Had the pleasure of meeting Twist in San Francisco in the 90s…One of my favorite writers of all time..Margaret was special….Awesome stuff.
have seen this one so many times, never gets old. rest easy margaret
Margaret passed away??
@@AngelMontoya-kl9qj unfortunately yes, back in 2001
@ damn how sad :( would it be okay ? If I asked how she passed away
@@AngelMontoya-kl9qj of course, it's very sad. she passed away from cancer. there's a story on the new yorker about barry, her, their daughter, and clare that is very much so worth reading. i have so much respect for all of these people
@ oh so she was Barry’s girlfriend and they had a daughter wow didn’t know that
RIP Meta. Peace Twist and thank you for continuing to be legendary.
Oh no him too he's up a ton bk in city. Used to out to take flicks. Then do the rounds haight, mission ,market street. Guys were always rocking below market st to the water n the muni tunnels filmore tenderloin by the freeways what beautiful inspiring stuff bk then.
Recorded this on VHS when it originally aired. Always loved the Margaret parts. RIP.
Can’t believe I just discovered these two, and she is long gone……..
her beautiful energy and spirit will shine on infinitely
Back in the days, this was one of my favourite episodes. Thank you Art21
I love this re-edit of this older footage! Love Barry Y Margaret Killgallen
This is actually our original footage and episode edit from 2001! (Season 1 of our broadcast series, "Art in the Twenty-First Century") Thanks for watching! 😄
Rip to a legend, Barry on the other hand continues to inspire all
I have waited years for this to be on youtube! Many thanks for all you do!
Gracias Margaret. Gracias Barry. ❤
Two of the best to ever do it.
Margaret is one of my hero’s
Who's the other one?
Beautiful, beautifully shot, beautifully made, beautiful artwork and beautiful people.
"My hand will always be imperfect, because it's human."
well, then so is your thought process. Is a chicken egg more perfect cause it's not human ? I'm pained to think that a popcorn ceiling is more important and should be restored and replaced whenever possible based on the fact that it isn't human. That said, God is perfect man makes mistakes. (such as this reply)
and that's your takeaway from this documentary.
@@NicholasFedor-d3p You missed the point of it. It's not as deep as you tried to make it. Your ego is in the way.
@@NicholasFedor-d3p All he did was quote what she said because it stood out to him. Is there a specific "takeaway" all of us need from this video?
“My butt will always be farding, cause of poop”
These 2 were made for each other! ❤ RIP Margaret.
I remember watching this exact video in one of my college art courses back in 2002.
8:32 "Barry, don't do that" :)
This has the charm of a Linklater film, subbed instantly
gone too soon but not forgotten
One of my favorites! Two very inspiring people.
I loved this video so much. What’s funny is a lot of the quotes from this have been living in my head for decades just like they say at the beginning of the video. Ugh my heart ♥️
I get so much out of these. Thanks fof all you do❤
TWIST GOAT 91 the start of my Graff career..I got a lot of inspiration from you Sir. Thanks
🔥🔥❤❤❤❤❤🔥🔥
R.I.P. MARGARET
An an early 90’s mini bus hopper, this brings me back to a great time to be alive
Beautiful souls
A CLASSIC
Love these two!
In 1992 I stole a Twist piece offa a construction site in SF. It was on a big piece of plywood and I lost track of it when I moved out of Noe Valley. Whoever ended up with it, I hope it’s still out there!
My favorite time was randomly ripping shots and blessing lower haight with Ether. Just a one off encounter. My hearts bleeds for “stack.” I was homeless at the same time. 3am crew. We’re based out of Larkin street youth center off the track in Polk. What a great place to house the homeless youth…
Long live Margaret. Rest in Power.
It was a magical time in sf and la for graffiti and fine art installations with many talents during 96-2000
Really great piece
RIP
great video
Really enjoyed!
Love this video. Big ups to THR!!
legends! rip MK
RIP homegirl
Twist used to have some insane pieces waaay back in the day on the bombers section in the source.
Margarita lo más grande ❤
I'm assuming this is back when artists used to be able to afford to live in San Francisco? I remember seeing his stuff up a lot in New York in the early 2000s.
Rest In Peace 🙏 Matokie
🔥🔥🔥
Barry McGee is one of my favorite artist of all time.
Margaret would be world famous artist if cancer didn’t take her.
Twist could be portrayed by Fred Armisan or Zack Oyama lol
I've been trying to find this thanks
Haha when he throws the rock what moment.
Soul!!
Shout out PBS
yesssss
Twist had an amazing mural in the Justice League (now the Independent I think) on Divis. Anyone know if it’s still up? I don’t really go to clubs anymore..
Twist a the king of the city
What camera was this shoot with? so beautifully documented!
Dope…
You can never make things perfect , but you can get pretty damn close.
heroes
Bookmarked
RIP Mattie
MTK bows 🙏🏾
These two are total weitdos and I love it!
Does anyone know what the book is she is looking at at 3.24?
Twist army?
I don't know why, but i'm so depressed right now.
I miss
what market do they use to tag the trains?
looks like a paint marker, like POSCA
they could be paint sticks
Something like a Sakura paint/oil stick.
./43weq2` The Stock Market ?To market to market to buy a fat hen .......
@@mattbray_studio Nah its a mean streaker
It is literally impossible for anyone to contemplate their surroundings today as these two did back then. The very existence of the internets capabilities nullifies our localized experience, whether we are aware of it or not.
This
Introducing yourself with "I'm an artist" is the best way to get people to avoid you
For the record they did not tag a train yard and if they did would be instantly buffed due to wackness
I'm sure the people who operate the small businesses with hand-painted signs at the beginning of the video love graffiti just as much as you.
Awesome 🎉🎉🔥🔥
