This is very informative, now I feel somewhat confident to tackle this when the day comes.

Amazing what a couple of Thousanths of an inch will do for a small engine! Good work Jeremy!

Where do you set the piston to adjust valve. I missed something somewhere. Great video though.

After doing the valves on my snowblower, I got myself a set of t-handle Allen wrenches.
The handles give you a better grip and more room to tighten the nuts after.
I have to check the valve lash every year on this machine, couple years back I broke the connecting rods during the worst storm of the year. That's how loose the valves got 😐

It will breathe a little better now.

I use a Stihl BR 700 at work that gets really difficult to turn over when starting but otherwise seems to run fine, would this solve that problem? And would the measurement for the valve lash be the same?

Yes, it is, an "over head valve" ...

What kind of reading are you supposed to get when checking the compression on these engines? I have a mm4 concrete saw and the compression is under 30psi.. but the cylinder has a beautiful crosshatch pattern..

My valves are extremely dry. Is that normal? I use 10W-30 oil as recommended. Additionally, my blower operates fine without the muffler, but when I reconnect the muffler, it loses power, and I also notice some mist coming out from the carburetor

Jeremy, what is the gap for a EH025 Makita blower? In/Ex?

Was that a normal amount of required adjustment for the time on the engine?

Greatly depends on how well it’s maintenanced

    Hi,
What about the top dead centre. How do you find that before you adjust the valves?
    Thanks

Look through the spark plug hole, rotate the crank until you see the piston at the top of its compression stroke. If you there is no play, rotate the crank again until the piston comes to the top again.

Hi I have the eb5300th and one off the rocker arm had snapped and can’t find them for sale anywhere. Was wondering if the ones for the eb7660th would work on mine.

Hi likelihood. This video shows something that looks exactly like my eb7660th
