Yeah, tails flight animation at the end of the stage is pretty damn good too, I love how amazing this game looks I replayed the demo so many times just because of the look of the game lol. Glad they're going to do the whole game, the physics are a bit off and there's a bit of slowdown, but still pretty good physics better than sonic 4s physics.
Jroshot 914 i think it has the potential to be once it's fully completed an fleshed out, what really wins me over is that art style it breathes so much color and life into the game, for example there's shade when sonic goes into an underground or tunnel section, and warm glow illuminates from the lava. It's the small things in this demo that truly make this great

I hated it when people said in the trailer for this game it looks like just some weak shitty Photoshop drawing and it has no talent whatsoever. LOOK AT THIS! Its beautiful!
I love the fact that they even kept the broken door texture in Chemical Plant and even added in the unused Eggman-covered-in-goop sprite in there. Good details, honestly.

I've been following the project for a long time. Here's what happened: They began the project a long time ago and made some headway. It was going pretty well and then they released the first demo. Here's where everything fell apart. When people downloaded the demo, they found that shoddy input programming allowed the game to register keypresses even when the game was active, and this lead to many AV programs falsely labeling it a keylogger. This, on top of a bloated engine, caused a lot of criticism over the programmer. The team decided to remove him as the lead programmer. However, he essentially held the engine hostage and kept the team from being able to use it anymore. This caused the project to completely die for a time because they would have to completely rewrite the engine code. A couple of years later they decided to restart the project with a fully rewritten engine, and so technically what you see here isn't the same game at all as what you played in the first demo.

This is the best fan game I've ever played. Words cannot describe how good this is. It makes me want Sonic 1, and 3K to get the same treatment. I simply cannot believe this is a fan game, like... people need to understand how amazing this is.
A different team unrelated to this one or the old S2HD one is working on a Sonic 3&K remake, though from what I've observed they've only finished a small demo of Mushroom Hill Zone. At the moment, it doesn't impress me too much, particularly with Sonic 3 Complete out in the open already, plus I'm somewhat concerned as to how the music will be handled in the final product (what with Michael Jackson and his sound team having composed a good chunk of Sonic 3's soundtrack).

This is a fantastic job. Just watching the video brings back some great memories. Very crisp and the music is fantastic, especially the way it is changed in the second act.
Can we just take a second to appreciate the Chemical Plant background? It has, what, like 4 or 5 layers? It completely changes the vibes moving from act 1 to act 2.

No sure how I feel about the faster speed animation, or the uncurling animation, but overall it's looking pretty good... love the ending poses. Good job on the music too (There's still a note in EHZ that I don't like, and CPZ needs some heavy sax, but it's still pretty good.)

I like the little touches in this demo. The chemical falling on Eggman's head after you beat him in Chemical Plant, the red lighting on Sonic's body when he's close to lava. Just needs to fix a few little issues. I think I saw Sonic take damage from touching the sides of the spikes, and those red robots that shoot spikes out of their heads could be killed via spindash without taking damage in the original, but not here.
not quite ready to showcase Aquatic Ruin or Casino Night yet, eh? there are a lot of really neat and fine touches throughout. one thing that i felt was missing/not quite right though was the spinning (SSA) animation. in the original it alternated between showing Sonic as either a shiny blue globe or curled up. also, i'm not sure but it seems like the physics might be slightly off. but wow, all this work shows the game with a LOT of polish! Excellent job! I am hoping this project is completed someday (and this time around without a keylogger embedded within the game's download file)!

@ MyDbzfan9000: That's what I meant. lol. The music of this demo (except the Act 2 ones) was made by Tee Lopes, whom Sega later hired to work on Mania's music, so it's safe to assume that fan projects like this shouldn't be a problem for Sega.
Someone just reminded me of Bomber Link's Streets of Rage fan remake, which was taken down by Sega's legal team 6 years ago. Things might different now, though. It probably just means Sega wasn't always lenient towards fangames (or they were just being picky about which ones to go after).
really hoping they will be adding what christian whitehead did for the mobile remake, particularly the hidden palace zone. for pc users who can not play that remake this would be a great opportunity to finally get it.

this game is a masterpiece made by those fans, the graphics look really beautiful specially Chemical Plant, I wish they would fix Eggman fights since they are pretty easy to beat and boring (no difficulty). I wish they would add like a 2-3 seconds delay to make another hit on him, I always remember the chemical plant act 2 boss where you could beat it straight with 8 hits.
I wish developers could add a sort of "difficulty scheme " instead of playing the game exactly as it was in 1992. Less shields, 0 invincibility monitors, no 1up monitors nor with scores , stuff like that. Quite cool the graphical upgrade though.
It might be me but the physics in the game seem a tad bit off from what I remember, but that might be my instinct for sonic 4 since the game is a classic HD

I don't see how accepting background input is "shoddy." It's found as an option in many emulators. And it's great for testing purposes.
